Hello,

I have extracted the FSH, reskinned the BMP, turned the FSH back into a FSH. I overwrote the old FSH with the new one. Now I am unable to get the new FSH in to the Reader. What have I missed?

Thanks,
Kevin

Andreas

What exactly were your steps when doing this? Here's what I do when I modify an automata skin:

- open the DAT in the Reader, save FSH as file
- open the FSH in FiSHMan, export image and alpha as PNG files
- edit the PNG(s) in Fireworks (or any other graphics program)
- import edited PNG in FiSHMan and add alpha, if necessary
- save FSH file (overwrite old one)
- import FSH file in the Reader (using the TGI file that the Reader has created during export)
- remove old FSH file instance and save DAT

Andreas,

I am able to import FSH files into the Reader and give them the instance of the original FSH. However, after I have saved the S3D view crashes the reader.

I double checked the FSH files that I created and I made them in DXT3 with Alpha, with the other settings left at their default.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Kevin

Hmm, I have no idea. I didn't went to the process very often, but so far, it worked fine everytimes. Are the FSH files compressed, by any chance? Try to export (and import) them as uncompressed files. Other than that, I can't think of anything.

Reload the DAT file you are working on after inserting FSH images, but before attempting to view S3D models. This has been my work around for this issue for years (3 or more).

Thanks Jan, I had some how missed that in the tutorials I read...

And, in case anyone else is following this thread besides Jan and Andreas, this is exactly why I love SC4D: the people who have knowledge are willing to share it.

Cheers,
Kevin
