Thanks for the update ejc.
The industrial area looks really good. I also like the Interregio train passing by, looks exactly like the train i'm using everyday during the semester to university.  :)

I don't think there is anything about your great region views that hasn't been said before ...

And as fellow railroad lover I love not only these railway shots but I love your spectacular shots of the unspectactular.

Keep it coming like this and don't forget to make backups!

BERGKAMEN

This is the center of the small village of "Bergkamen" that is 10km north of "Unna"

Highway "A1" crossing some farms just east of the town

Farmlands stretching out over the outskirts

A railline is connecting the north of the village with "Münster", "Dortmund" and "Hamm"

An out zoomed shot of the station, allready visible the coal-mine mountain and it stacks

On the Canal we find the power-station of the area

The overview of the total complex

The main street of the city, nice wall2wall buildings here.. typical German

A nice shot of the city of "Bergkamen" a real peaceful village..

Last shot; the church and some advertising on the buildings

Super update E.  I especially like how you did the farms on the diagonal road so you can get those nice irregular shapes for the farms.  Your city looks very good as well.

Hello EJC.

Excellent pictures. I enjoyed looking at them all. I especially like the one where the A1 motorway runs through the rural country side.

RUHRSCHNELLWEG

Today a very special update I say... We gonna take a tour along the entire highway that stretches from west to east along the entire region!! With this update you'll see what a variety the region has to offer; industries, rivers, cities, farmlands, railways, harbours, valleys, stations, forests.. etc etc

Red line -> Ruhrschnellweg & Blue dots; Pictures taken

So; sit back and enjoy this huge update and let the little story beneath every picture tell you something of the region...

We enter the region from the west and we reach the first junction of the region; "Kreuz Moers" Farmlands are being taken over by housing and industies now on!!

We're passing by the western suburbs of "Duisburg" and we cross the river "Rhine" with the nice bridge that holds the "Ruhrschnellweg"

We enter the most industrialised settings of the Ruhrpott; "Duisburg Hafen", with large petrochemical plants and steel mills the banks of the river "Rhine" holds most of the very heavy industry of the region..

We are passing by the city of "Duisburg" and we enter some more hilly terrain east of the city. Here a couple mayor highways meet, aswell some raillines which are here bundled together towards Duisburg main station; "Duisburg HBF"

This is the only time the "Ruhrschnellweg" crosses the river "Ruhr". Between "Duisburg" and "Mülheim" several rail-tracks and the highway crosses the river and some farmlands beneath.

The eastern suburbs of "Mulheim", southern of "Oberhausen" and western of "Essen" Here the highway makes some turns and we enter the denser residenital areas around "Essen"

The shopping-center (einkaufzentrum) Ruhr is near the highway A44, here we enter the city-border of "Essen"

The highway continues going deeper into "Essen" city center. Here we can see the trade-center that's on the banks of the highway and the "Fernsehturm" or in English; radio & television-tower of "Essen"

"Essen Zentrum" (center) with a highway that tunnels itself underneath highrises and popping above ground just in front of the railway station; "Essen HBF"

The junction "Essen abschweig" in the east of "Essen". Also visible on the right the suburb of "Essen Kray"

The eastern suburbs of "Essen" with some heavy used raillines by commuters that travel in & out "Essen"

We enter the city of "Bochum" where the first thing we see is the large factories of "Stahl Grupp" (Steel company)

Passing by on the center of "Bochum" aswell the football arena of "VFL Bochum"

"Bochum Ost" with large garbage dump (Müll) in the left bottom corner and large highway junction that leads towards A1 highway

Some farmlands between the cities of "Bochum" and "Dortmund", here we almost enter the most western suburb; "Lütgendortmund"

We enter the last city of the region on the east-side; "Dortmund". We cross the valley with a nice "Talbrücke" and enter the city of "Dortmund"

The other side of the valley; we're passing by "Westfalenhallen" (a large conventioncenter) and the stadium of "BVB 09 Dortmund"

The highway has changed to more like an avenue. Here we cross the "Ruhrpark" in the center of "Dortmund"

We meet with the "StraBenbahn" of "Dortmund" (tram or LGR) It connects the suburbs with the innercity..

Almost the end of our journey; we encounter the Int Airport of the region; "Dortmund Lufthafen" A small airport with only 1 runway and terminal-building

The last junction of the "Ruhrschnellweg" -> "Kreuz Unna" here we meet the north <-> south highway A1 that connects the area with the entire country of "Germany"

Well... Nothing more to say... I hope you enjoyed this update with 21 pictures that shows you the true feeling of the area "Ruhrgebiet" or "Ruhrpott"

Stay tuned for more updates!!
