Fantastic update, you do a real job of taking real life cities and making them SC4 cities. Very realistic, and I like your focus on traffic flows as well.

thundercrack83

Oooh, I love the traffic views, my friend! I always find that kind of stuff interesting. Another splendid update! I'll be looking forward to more!

ESSEN

This is the largest city of the region, with almost 600.000 inhabtitants. This update will only show all of the progress I've been making the last weeks. It has been a huge step forward and the region-view is looking nicer & nicer..

Left = Duisburg, Middle = Mülheim a/d Ruhr & Right = Essen

This is the matching transit-view; starting to look complicated...

I've also decided to expand the region more northwards, this will be shown in a few updates. First, we gonna take a closer look on the City of "Essen", so be prepared the next updates.

See you on the next close-up update on ESSEN!!

ESSEN HOLSTERHAUSEN

Today we take a first tour around the largest city in the Ruhr-valley; Essen! We start the tour entering with Highway A52 (Essen <-> Düsseldorf") and we'll see the first suburb of Essen, called Holsterhausen. (please don't mind the windows-taskbar..)

The Autobahn south of "Essen" (A52 to "Düsseldorf")

The A52 entering "Essen" on the Southside of the city

Parts of "Essen-Messe" (convention center with large halls) and "Gruga-park" in back of it

Old industrial railroad in the south of "Essen-Holsterhausen"

That's all for now, in the next updates I will follow the suburbs of the city to provide every bit of the city with an update.

Fantastic looking new pictures, ejc! Great work on ESSEN!

thundercrack83

WOW! Stunning!

Your region maps are always incredible and I love that train station in the first picture, too! Which one is that?

paroch

I love the region views - shows what a tremendous amount of work you have put into this one.

Essen is looking good as well.  Will your map go as far as Dusseldorf?

ejc

@ Paroch; I can tell you... Düsseldorf is planned, but will take some time. First I'm gonna develop eastwards towards "Dortmund" and "Unna". After that I will go a little bit up, and build westwards -> "Castrop Rauxel", "Gelsenkirchen", "Bottrop" and "Duisburg-nord"

@ Thundercrack83;
that station is "Tokyo Station".. Can't remember where I get it, I do have it for 2 years allready now I think. You should search the "Japanese BAT-tread" on ST

E- FROHNHAUSEN

Kaufzentrum or Mall "Humbold" (I am aware the tower is on the wrong side;lack of proper BATs)

Some industries in "gewerbegebiet am Fördeturm"

The junction towards "E-Holsterhausen" and the road towards "E-altendorf"

Highway "A40" crossing "Essen" south of  "E-Frohnhausen"

That's for another update on Essen.. More will follow; LOTS WILL FOLLOW>>>

Great new pictures of Essen! Great work on E- FROHNHAUSEN!

thundercrack83

More stunning recreation, ejc! I feel like I'm in Essen when I look at your work! I can't wait to see more development! And thanks for the tip on the train station, too! I'll be looking for it!

ESSEN suburbs

Today's update will contain some different close-up shots of different parts of the city. Not really a storyline to tell here, just some pics that I want to show you!

Junction in "E-Frohnhausen", just gotta love the w2w-buildings made by our BATers around on ST

Some heavy traffic on the  "A40" (Ruhrschnellweg)

A40 running through the city and devides it in 2..

Heavy railtraffic towards "Essen-HBF" near "E-Altendorf"

Next update we'll transfer to the more northern suburbs of the city

Cool, I have been to Essen once, back in 02 or 03 on the Essen Automesse. I remember seeing the city being greener than I thought it would be :D
I didn't see much of the city though... just the area around the event.

take care,
...coming soon

Nice updates there ejc.

I really like the way the A40 snakes its way through Essen - and the build up of traffic on both the A40 and on the fly over adds even more realism.  I also like the apartment blocks that have the blue bit on the top - don't think I've seen them before and they fit in well in your city.

Keep 'em coming!

E-nord

Some green areas in "E-Bergeborbeck" a suburb in the north of Essen

Some industrial parts in "Essen-Nord"..

Same warehouses zoomed out and showing some parts of the area

Heavy traffic at the junction "Bottroper straBe" and "GrillostraBe"

This is German!! A Intercity crossing the Essener-city ring..

Some hotels and mid-rise office blocks are settled near the rail-tracks in "Essen-nord"

Some older parts closer to the city-center.. Gotta love the German sign!!

Some football-pitches near the neighbourhood

Also some tennis-fields are here for some relaxing on the Sims

Closed up detail shot of some flats near the parks edge..

Well.. a large update today as you see. I want to make some more speed with this MD. This is because I work 4months ahead now of what I'm showing you here now. Hmm.. how can I explain it better... -> the shots in this update were allready made in june this year!

Anyhow; there's coming more soon!!!!

More extraordinary work here, ejc! I agree with Robin above, those rail bridges look great. And I love those big warehouse and industry complexes you've placed, too. I'd love to get my hands on them! Keep up the good work, my friend!
