QuoteIn some cities, the icon is not in the landmarks menu at all.

- In other cities, the icon shows up pretty far down the menu, after Worldwide Plaza, Tour Montparnasse and Dorra Bay. In these cases the plopped lot is blank.

- After checking the lot in LE immediately prior to loading the game, the menu icon shows up just under the Marina Residence Plop, before Worldwide Plaza and Dorra Bay. In this case the building does show up when the lot is plopped.

This seems to me to indicate that you do have another copy of this file somewhere as the menu icon won't move normally or as ripplejet says that the information is stored in the saved game file.

Aha!  &idea

Yes, of course the main thing I was trying to do was to put the new version in a city where the old version had previously been. I had bulldozed the old version, saved the game and exited, then removed the old version from my plugins and replaced it with the new. I then loaded the city again and was trying to plop the new version in place of the old. Upon further experimentation, here is what happens:

- If, upon loading the game, I first enter the city where the original version had been, the icon for the new WTC version is farther down the menu and the lot is blank when plopped. Afterwards, if I move from that city to any other city where the original version had never been, the menu icon for the new WTC version does not appear at all.

- If, after loading the game, I first enter a city that never had the original version, the icon appears farther up the menu and the lot is not blank when plopped. I can then go from that city to the city where the original version and been and both the menu icon and the plopped lot show up as they should.

Thank you guys for your patience. I've never seen or heard of a problem like this, but I'm glad to have the mystery solved. I guess the remaining question is whether there is any danger in using the method described in bullet two to place the new lot in the city where the old version had been?

It also is clear that updating the original lots does not work in the same way as the updated Cerulean and Cobb lots. All instances of these lots must be bulldozed first - all original plopped and grown lots are left blank after updating, like the picture of the Marina Residence earlier in this thread...

Thanks to you as well, Patrick!
This once more confirms that ploppable buildings shouldn't be updated using the same TGI...
Barby will have to assign new TGI's when updating ploppable buildings. :P

Patrick, could you please re-confirm one thing about the Marina Residence you had?
Updating a growable lot should not remove the building from an existing lot...
Can you confirm if the Marina Residence you had was plopped or had grown (by querying it in game)? :)

snorrelli

Yes - it was the growable R$$$6 from the original download. Although the query didn't work after the update and the disappearance of the building from the lot, when I bulldozed it the green medium density R zone was left underneath. If it had been the ploppable it would have just been blank ground.

This is very odd and for future updates I shall change the IID for both plops and growables. The lots will then look identical but will be replacements not updates.
For the Marina Residence it is very odd indeed as I added ks_jpn's original desc for the building then put it through PIM_X and changed the query to the CAM one. I did not make a new exemplar at all.

Well, sorry it didn't work out, Barby. I know you were trying to update the lots with the original IIDs mainly to accommodate me in the first place. Your efforts and consideration are still much appreciated, even if I had to go back and bulldoze all instances of the originals anyway. Just glad to have it all sorted out now. ;) :D

It will take a bit longer now as I have several projects in the queue and redoing the IID will take longer than just updating. If there is anything you want specially, just ask and I'll move it up the queue.

No worries - take your time.

I only wonder if the updated lots for Marina Residence and Dorra Bay actually grow... &Thk/(
