I LOVE most music pre-90s... I'm not into the more 'contemporary' stuff... Honestly. The quality of the "golden oldies" is just so much better. I do not like contemporary music.

Marius- Covers can be really good.  As you probably saw from 3RR, I am really partial to an old Simon and Garfunkel tune- "A Hazy Shade of Winter."  The original was good, but the Bangles' take on it years later just scorched.  S&G's version was a poignant lament.  The Bangles turned it into an in-your-face rage against the dying of the light sort of thing.

So, a groundrule or two.  Original artists.  No covers.  No pop, just rock.

Oh, and I might add that I think rock died sometime in the early 70s.  It left a beautiful corpse, and every once in a while I think (for a little bit anyway) that it's been resurrected, but rock is in fact dead, dead, dead.

Persuade me otherwise, my friend.

i realy don't like covers..there are a few that are good...and the once who are better than the real thing, you can count on one hand
Mostly the covers R*** the original song, becouse they want to make some fast money over the backs of bands and artist who layed ther soul in a song.

like here...dance and cheap "euro trash house" is realy hot.
but 99% is from old covers and all the kiddies go nuts...and when you say : the real song is better...they look at you if they see water burning...now i know that the youth of these days arn't that clever and think that milk comes out a milkpack. but come one....know your music!!!

all saints didn't write - under the bridge
Britney didn't sing - i love rock and roll first!
and propper education by Eric Prydz is a cheap rip off from pink floyd!

My mom and dad teached me about good music from the 70's and 80's and so on...i have many cd's with "back to"... in my cd colection
but i'm getting old i think....

and i realy love th early 90's...but thats for personal reasons...gives me flash backs! ( has to do with opening some closset)

i realy don't like the stones...altough i like paint it black ( some good SINGSTAR memories about that one, and i had to sing it at the last day of school at the farwel party) and Angie....but they are old farts with only old hits to live on!

the who...the who????   ???
ermmm. and the wha?? ()what()
*starts running*
i like old music from the 70's 80's and 90's...but i don't know them...maybe they are from before the ice age...?
*runs like hell*

I like the old Stones of the 60's. Some of their 70-80 stuff is OK too. But music of later date is not realy my game.
I am a big Queen fan and I like the way they adapted their music throughout the years without loosing the Queen-sound. However, at the death of Freddie, it all changed. For me there is only one Queen and that is with Freddy Mercury.
I am a big 70's 80's and 90's fan to. I listen to them on Radio VeronicaRadioVeronica while at work (as right now).

I also like contemperary stuff (Counting Crows, Blof), although I notice a lot of inspiration comes from the 60's and 70's band. But that is hardly surprising. the bands of the 60's and 70's (and 50's) were the pioneers and they discovered things first. In fact I think Music is re-invented every so odd years, where the main inspiration is from the years mantioned before of course. Does that make this kind of music less than those of the early years? I say a big nay. It's all a matter of taste.
There is only one genre of music I dislike and that's R&B. I never been into Soul or Funk anyway. But todays R&B is more like moaning cats than music. I have to admit though (judging from the sales fgures of the industry) a lot of people disagree with me.
