well the right lane will now be straight only, but my god, I will laugh when I get downtown to take a picture of the "straight" lane since its only 4 car lengths long.  I actually spoke up and said to eliminate parking on that side period and make where parking is now be straight all the way through and have a left turn lane which got nixed right away by business owners, then I suggested making the traffic light blink instead of continuing its cycle when a train is coming, this way the people who want to turn left from one street do not have to sit there and wait for the light to cycle, again nixed to go with their stupid idea which as one town board member stated "will work out great" at which point I said "this town is absolutely run by morons" which got some people to agree with before I was escorted out.

Incidentally I actually care about where I live, just my town is all run by 60+ yr olds who think they know more than a 36 yr old with 9 kids who lives "in the sticks"(my house is just inside the town limits after being annexed years ago, and now I am seriously considering disannexing(since I recently purchased more land which is still part of the county)

I like the weave lanes Hal, very well done

Here are 2 that I completed a while ago.  The first one is totally finished but the second needs some aesthetics added.  Where can I get some sound walls that actually work?  I downloaded some but they dont appear in my menu.

Man I cant believe I fit all of that in the small area given to me.  I did the best I could but I ended up tying a RHW with a southern tunnel terminus, an eastern tunnel crossing, an east-west RHW expressway terminus and a full service interchange on the northern section... :satisfied:

Does not look too small. Pretty real to me.

@mike3775, Yeah, I hate how dumb*$$** keep on getting elected, hope all goes well with dropping that annexation back to the county, there are more stupid laws with being incorporated. I knew someone who got ticketed for parking on their own grass, the issue was they were off the pavement. There was this town called lisle that took a four lane road, and made that into two lanes instead, in a fail attempt to be more main street. The end result is they spent too much money on cosmetics, but could not come up with a way to resolve business better. The only thing they got right was they built an underpass below the Burlington. This other town used to have a signal and a bunch of buildings at the intersection of Burlington and Belmont. There was talk of building an underpass back in the 90's, but they did not get off their *** until just recently to do so, after the state deficit, when it would of cost less back then. There also were more fatalities since. They did not put the traffic signal back since errecting the viaduct to hold the tracks up. The worst town is Romeoville, because they lowered way too many main routes to 25 for too long of a distance.

The town I resided in, has a four lane road, but they can't get stop parking because business owners won't agree, parking decks were built after, instead of being on the main road, a meeting was discussed, a bunch of people wanted the parking taken off the on-street, but the issue was the shop owners did not want that taken from them.

Here's a new video of an old city:

SC4 has come a long way from those cookie-cutter intersections, and more realistic and ascetically pleasing as well. As you can tell I didn't know how to build slopes back then  :P (I think this city was built in 2005).

The NAM changed everything.

I call this one a heavy diamond.

Elevated Highway using a diamond interchange to connect with a ground highway. There's no room for a stack. (and this junction was built before I got the NAM :P)

A semi-directional T is very hard to do because of the need for three levels. In this relatively rural area, I have done a flattened, two-layer semi-directional T. The end loop functions as a sort of raindrop roundabout — sure, it's a weaving hazard, but it's the best option to save space. Not linked because I prefer PNG files and because of my VNC-based Mac setup.

Something I came up with, loosely based on an interchange in ~20km from me.

At first it looked like this:

After a few suggestions, it now looks like this:

Hope you like it!

I think it would be even better with a FAR transition on the right part, where you've deleted it. Just put it again and It will be super!

Sorry, for double posting, but:

Here's a Partially Unraveled Cloverleaf Interchange I've made using jdenm8's exemple but with some changes.

Man I wish I could build interchanges as well as you did there.  Mine always comes out looking like crap  lol

mike3775, I use to think it was very hard to accomplish such interchanges, but it's not really.  Very time consuming for the beginner, but very possible.  I suggest you save that picture and keep it open in the background while you are playing the game.  Go back and forth and copy the pieces used.  This is exactly how I have been doing it over the last few months. ;)  Eventually you'll be making your own interchanges.

Check out this one I made recently.  Not complete, still needs some dressing here and there and to be continued south. ;)

Great work in here everyone.

And to add to what Robin said about the picture open in background:

copying is the sincerest form of flattery

Just take your time, sit in your chair and enjoy a coffee or another drink. I always do like that when I want a good interchange ( being myself bad a creating things on my own) and I'm sure you'll be able to create such interchanges. ;)

Robin, nice interchange, I like it  a lot.  May I give you some suggestion ?

I think it would have been great too, if you put a ramp directly down the elevated MIS at the right, instead of getting through another bunch of ground MIS. That way it would be less ZigZag.

Arthur, can you show me what you mean, I'm not very good with the names and such.  Keep in mind I need the interchange to be a small as possible, realistic or not. :P

Is something like that possible with the place you have ?

thats my main issue, I am impatient when it comes to building those things because I want to zone and hit the button to run.  But great idea about copying, I have done that before with the interchange guides and should do it with these pictures as well.

This was by complete fluke! This interchange turned out beautifully! This is my airport area with industrial lining the highway.
There are no traffic generators in this photo! All the traffic you see is real live traffic commuters.
My favorite part of this interchange is how the middle of the Highway was able to be occupied. Although it took some work to get that middle avenue to go perfectly under a stretch of highway, then immediately raised 15m above ground to meet the Highway overpasses. For this city, I plan on developing the rest of the empty space for industrial.

A bit of a fun image I created! ^_^
