GRIMES POINT

Grimes Point is located on the southern edge of Potter's Lake.  It is a fairly small village with a population of only 2,150. It is centered around the intersection of County Trunk A and 23, which intersect in the middle of town.  Grimes Point is names after Sir Walter Grimes, the famous British Explorer that navigated through this area in the late 1600's.  He made his way into this area first through Devil's Lake then traversed the lands with only a few men. He would eventually explore most of Badger Bay, but it was here where Grimes Point is today that he camped in 1705 at the age of 74.  In the middle of the night a large grizzly bear broke into camp and attacked him and his men.  In the ensuing chaos a horse broke loose from the others and took off.  On its way out of camp it hit a shovel that flew up into the air and landed on the fire where a pot of hot water was perched precariously on a makeshift warming rig.  Well the pot flew into the air and landed on the foot of Sir Walter Grimes, who from the immense pain took off running towards the lake that they camped around (which would later be called Potter's Lake) and dipped his foot to cool the burn.  As he walked into the water he slipped on a mossy log, fell backwards and cracked his head open.  He would later die from the blood loss.

Today Grimes Point is a nice little village that doesn't get as much of the tourism bustle as Henderson, but it does get some.  This side of Potter's Lake is a little colder than the north side due to the prevailing winds.  You will still see tourists here, but it is the residents of Grimes Point you will see more often.  If you liked Henderson you will like Grimes Point.  Though not as touristy it is still a great place to see, I hope you will like it.

So my next few updates will revolve around this little town, named after a famous explorer.

GRIMES POINT UPDATE 1.0

Just a quick peek into some of the spots in Grimes Point.

GP-1: Everyone needs a dentist. OPEN WIDE!!

GP-2: Ekerd Drugs at Night

GP-3: Towne Bank.  Recently robbed.  Attached is the note that the robber left.  He was caught three hours later.  His name was on the back of the paper, he apparently made the note on a letter addressed to him.

GP-4: Now these next two pictures have a special place in my heart.

GP-5: And at Night

Now you ask why these have a place in my heart.  Well these buildings were made by SimGoober first of all and unbeknownst to him.  In the corner is a Jackson Hewitt Tax Service.

Well you may not know this, but I am an accountant and I actually own a Jackson Hewitt Tax Service.  I have three offices that I own.  So with that said also, come January my updates will be a little more sporadic.  Thats why I am trying to get out more now and build some up for later when I don't have the time to play as much.

Hey and I encourage you all to give Jackson Hewitt a shot.  We are more highly trained than H & R Block and I know I am much cheaper.  Go to www.jacksonhewitt.com to find out if one ios near you.

Sorry about the advertising plug but it's my business and am proud of what I do.  Next up in a day or two more views of Grimes Point.

You know what they say, there are only two things that are inevitable in life: death and taxes.

I still like your city, though. :P

Wonderful (two) new update(s)! Great pictures of that town!

Grimes Point: Wonderful introduction to your comunity (as always). I'm sure Sir Walter Grimes would be proud if he could see the village today!

Grimes Point Update 1: 'Give me all your money' lol, I'd say you should invest in Grimes Point educational system because that isn't one of the smartest criminals. I'm having serious doubts visiting a dentist with an oral fixation though, oh man you really make me laugh  :D

A very nice update and introduction, good luck next January ;)

Hi there tkirch,

Another great town you've got there.  I have to congratulate you on the background you always give us for your towns.  It's very well written and gives the reader a nice feel for the place.  And I must admit that Sir Walter Grimes sounds like he could have been an British explorer.

And I can imagine it must have been good when you spotted the Jackson Hewitt offices - it's good to have something connected to you in your cities.

My favourite picture in this update is GP5, very nice nice shot - is that the new night mod I've seen people take about???  And yes, the bank robber's note is a very nice touch.

I'm enjoying Badger Bay, so as Arnie would say..... "I'll be back".

GRIMES POINT UPDATE 2.0

GP2-1 -Kelly's Escorts - The best place to get your Ford Escort fixed.

GP-2 -Kelly's Escorts at Night

GP-3 -Grimes Point Municipal Golf Course.  Not nearly as challenging as Ives Grove, this course is a Par 72 and 6700 yards from the back tees.  So you still need to have some mettle to play from the back tees.

GP-4 -{LINK}Bufallo Grille is the first restaurant you see entering Grimes Point.  Quite popular.  Make a reservation first.

GP-5 -The Grimes Point Police Department and Fire Department

GP-6 -Grimes Point School K-12

Let's get some mail replies done.  Been awhile....

Ennedi: Thanks for the tip about tastyzots.  Now I am using it all the time.  And thank you for checking in.  I appreciate your kind words.

capo: Thanks for the great comment.  I agree with you on the seasonal trees.  Just a bit here and there can make a huge difference.  You don't need a ton to make an impact plus it saves on the computer speeds.  Hope you got the link I gave you in reply 116.

paroch: Thanks for the great words.  You will find some places a lot like Henderson.  Grimes Point has a slight feel to that too.  And yes I do use Gizmo's New Night Patch.  I really think it makes quite a difference.  Plus if you want lighter pictures take some at different times of the day, you can still get pictures at dusk with it.

Jmouse: Joan again thanks for the kind words.  I am glad your enjoying my MD.  I am enjoying building it.

patfirefgthr: Thanks for the great words.  Plus I have something special for you.

Schulmanator: Thank you for the great comments.

bat: Thank you again bat for checking in and I have something for you.

Nascar Guy: Thank you for the wonderful comment.

Shadow Assassin: Thanks for looking in.

capo: I am glad you like the stories.  I enjoy writing them.  I try bringing in humor to get a laugh.

Hahaha, loving the zombies in your cemetary. That's a picture that deserves a spot in the HoF imho, I hope you will enter it in the competition!

What a great update, I also like that PEG seasonal changing lot. It's something I find a place for in every small rural town. That's a great looking plaza you have there in your first picture btw.

Good work! (as usual :) )
