What is the progress of your other residential and commerical bats?

paroch

Hi Jon,

It's been a while since I dropped by here (too busy typing posts in Covington  ;) ).

That school is looking good.  But you have always been the master with schools.  I really enjoy creating a school in-game and your Bats are usually at the heart of them.  And I'm looking forward to using this beauty.

As for that blank wall...... in my opinion you should leave it as it is.  Maybe there is a climbing wall or climbing frames on that wall on the inside.  Or maybe a squash court.  Sometimes a blank wall is the right answer.

If it was an school in England, I'd be tempted to have a goal painted on the wall.  The junior (elementary) school I attended (just a few years back, of course) had such a wall with a goal painted on it, plus a couple of "bullseye" targets.  Great for shooting practice!  Shooting with a football, that is, of course.

But Jon, whatever you decide, that building will be popular.

Keep em coming,

Paul

What is this rubbish?! Indoor restrooms?! IMPOSSIBLE!

Quote from: JBSimio on June 08, 2008, 08:53:54 PMI started digging around for the models and ideas that didn't make it into the first 3 packs, and came up with enough to make at least 2 more packs.  (Don't get too excited just yet... probably 3/4 of that is still in the idea or photo stages)

Can I just say, YAY!!! Your school packs are among the best additions to the game ever!  ;D

Pat

Hey Jon that is looking pretty good so far, one thing I would suggest is given the gym a more of a balloon style for the roof, most commonly for like Bowling Alleys as that would allow more seating cap...

I'm still trying to decide what to do (if anything) with that blank interior wall seen in the upper left view... I could make a separate gym entry there, but I'm not sure about it yet.

Meters, propane, etc.  Utilities stuff.  My middle school was set up fairly similar, and the inner asphalt courtyard held all the mechanical crap the school needed.

Glad to know you're doing more schools.  Let me know if you need any reference pics for suburban / modern rural schools, 'cause I've got tons.

Sorry JB, I forgot about Handley Consolidated. I'm glad to hear though that there will likely be a new regional elementary school and regional high school in your upcoming school packs.

By the way, whatever happened to the modular university pack that you were working on several months ago? Things have been pretty quiet recently about that project.

Cheers ;D

Matt:  Thanks!  I actually meant the large wall on the side of the gym... but those ideas could work for either one.

Fantnet:  Could you be more specific, please?  I don't think I have any major commercials in progress at the moment besides the Rookery Building.  The only residentials I can think of would be those suburban apartments I was working on... in which case, they're on hold until I get my desktop computer back again.  I don't seem to have them on the laptop... and I doubt I'll be moved into a place where I can get the other computer until August.

Paul:  Thank you!  Actually, perhaps backing up a couple basketball hoops against that wall might work very well.  Not exactly what you were saying, but the connection made sense in my head!   :D

Pat Riot:  A witch?  Next you'll be accusing me of turning you into a newt, I suppose!  (I know... I know... "You got better.")   :D  Thanks!

Girlfromverona:  Thank you so much!

Pat:  Thanks!  I think if this were a high school I would certianly expand the gym up and or out... but since it's an elementary, I'm not going to worry about it too much.

ACE:  Thank you!  I'll gladly take any pictures you'd care to send.  Use the PM if you're so inclined and thanks in advance! ;)

Simdad:  The university pack is lost somewhere in the land of translations at the moment.  There is a bit of a traffic jam going on that Clayhurst unfortunately became a part of.  It's still coming... but I'm not real sure when just yet.

Well... I tweaked a few things here and there... added some lights and basically wrapped up Helen Krump Elementary.  I still have a few last minute things to add and change, but nothing major.  Just a couple final details and lighting tweaks.

Speaking of more modern buildings... here is the humble beginnings of the next one.

This is the second elementary... and is one of the candidates for the regional school.  It should end up being a 4x4 lot in the end.  The colors are just to show contrasting elements... but don't mean much more than that yet.  Not a whole lot else to say about this one yet, but I thought I'd throw a sneak peek in just for kicks.

Have a good night!
JB

:o ... &apls Seriously awesome on the night lighting. My one suggestion would be to maybe take the lights on the outer gym wall and have them shine down a little further.

Well, my mistake again (gee, I hope that doesn't keep happening). Though I'm not sure if you've made a final decision, if it the larger wall on the gym I'd say leave it blank. I like the stlye of the new building, and the large assembly area as I'm tempted to call it (we had a large central room like that in my elementary school used for general purposes) is a neat feature. I'm sure I'll come up with something a bit more eloquent to say as it develops, but for now, it certainly looks good.

Thats an  interesting school, will turn out great. what is the space in the middle? A courtyard?

Alfred.Jones

Very nice start

Pat:  Thanks!  No worries... I was really just trying to make my lack of motivation sound reasonable!   :D

XiahouDun:  Thank you!  The lights on the sign were one of the tweaks I had in mind, so consider it done.

Matt:  Thaks!  I've basically decided to leave that wall alone.  The peaked area in the middle of the latest one is the gym... the "multi purpose room" (as we called it at my school) is in place now and should pretty much point to itself.  ;)

Pat Riot:  Thanks!  Nope... gym... but there will be a school with that idea coming up yet.

Alfred.Jones:  Thank you!  I think some people would disagree about the speed thing... but such is life.

This may or may not be my last update for a while.  I have to get on a bus in about an hour to go up north (Petoskey, Michigan for anyone who may be interested).  I'm not sure what the internet status will be at this place, so if it stays silent here for a while, you'll know why.  Long story short... I no longer work for the company that was going to transfer me.  I basically got "downsized" (that's the polite term).  I finished there on Friday and would have been unemployed until I got a phone call and temporary offer for the next month.  So off I go again...

Anyway... I closed up the newest school.  Still lots of details to add, but this gives you a pretty good idea of what it will look like:

That's about all for now...  I'll either talk to y'all from Petoskey, or I'll talk to you from England in a month! :)

Wonderful design Jb, the facade looks modern and then the barn style roof makes it look old school. excellent!  &apls

The school looks great. I think this may be one of your best to date (and that's a difficult task to achieve). I particularly like the little bowed out window section at the back (cafeteria?) and the subtle elevation changes of the roof. Sorry to hear about the RL thing. I can't believe they would let you go like that, though if I read it right, they're offering you a temporary job again? Whatever happens, I'm sure it will work out for the best. Until the next update, I hope things are otherwise well for you and your family.

Depending on how you texture it and add some details, that could be any civic building. Could be a community center, a clinic, anything. I know this will be one of your schools, but perhaps any variation like a civic center would work too. Keep up the great work Your Dudeliness.

This latest one look like a middle school near me &apls Oddly enough, the curved ornate section is to the back ???

i'm back again.. sorry to hear that of getting "downsized" &mmm.
on the other side, your latest designs are looking really good and i'm looking forward for their release (whenever that happens)
btw, a footbal (soccer) goal painted on the wall would be a must be on any empty wall in any south american "Helen Krump Elementary"  :P as paul (paroch) said, but whatever you come up with it's ok..
