XiahouDun:  Distraught?  I feel terrible now!  But, if it inspired you to start making some stuff, then it can't be all bad!  ;)
Don't be so sure, you haven't seen how bad it is yet :D

Tidalpool:  You're welcome... I do my best!  ;)

XiahouDun:  Hmmm... alright then... :D

Pat:  Yes... all the lounging around in the sun is really starting to get rough...  ::)

Zaphod asked about those apartment buildings I had made roughly a year ago... (a YEAR?!?  that long?  yes... time has flown, hasn't it?)  I thought they might have been lost forever with the computer issues I had during my move, but I found them on a back up disc and figured it was probably time to do something with these before I lose them again!  So... some of you may be interested to see this one...

This is the low wealth version of Camalot Apartments... very early lotting at the moment.  There is also a medium wealth version, but it hasn't grown for me just yet.

Oh but wait!  There are others which are a little further along in the process.  From the city of Covington...

As you can see, Stratton Apartments has two building variations, each with three color combinations.  Add the low and medium wealth options... carry the one... divide the pie (or something like that)... and you end up with 12 lots just for this!  And there will be some mega lot "apartment complexes" before it's all said and done.

All of these will be released separately, so Stratton will probably be the first to get finished.  The larger lots are all that still need to be done there... which shouldn't take too long.  Camalot and Arbor Woods will be following very closely behind... then there are two more after that which shouldn't be all that far off either.

See you soon,
JB

man, this is too good to be true. My friend's apartment could've been the inspiration for the Stratton apartments(His place is really nasty too :D)

Sorry for getting too excited here, I don't want to jinx you

Mmm... pie... Oh wait.. apartments. I was waiting to see what would happen with these things. I was excited when I saw the Stratton Apartments make their debut in Covington, and I'm glad to hear they've survived any computer troubles. Both buildings are looking good so far, and it'll be worth the wait once they're released. Hard to believe it's been almost a year, but it's been a fun ride to follow. Here's to many more years to come.

Arthur:  Thank you!

SimNation:  Thanks!  I'll get back to them again soon when I'm in the lotting mood again.

Kimcar:  Thanks!

Zaphod:  Thank you!  I'm glad you like them!

Matt:  Thanks!  Yeah... they've gotten lost way too many times.  ;)

Tag_one:  Thank you!

Robin:  Thanks!  The SF part is what keeps setting me back, to be honest.  It will be worth it in the end, but I don't do it very often and it's really slowing the process.

Karin:  Thank you!

Pat:  I saw enough snow back in Michigan last week to last me for a good long while!  :D

XiahouDun:  Thanks!

I have some larger blocks of time on my hands right now... which is always idea for BATting.  I'll get back to the apartments soon, I promise... but while I have the time, I wanted to revive something else.  Maybe you remember this one?

Well... I finally got the back put together too...

I'll be changing the mechanical room on the roof (it's way too small at the moment) but beyond that, most of the major modeling is done for this.  I still need to add roof junk and do all the textures.  I started in on some of the windows (over 500 so far, and that's without the front or sides!) and floors, but that's about it so far.  Anyway... I really want to get this one done because I'm already very excited about the next SHUR building!  ;)

That is looking very good there Jon.  I recall you showing me the RL pics of this building, so am looking forward to seeing the textures added.

I think the semi circular staircase as the back is the icing on the cak for this one - just really adds something extra special.

threestooges

Ah yes, this was another good one. The spiral staircase is an excellent touch and I love the curvy details in the front at the top. Looking forward to seeing this one done, and to see what you have in store for the next one too. Happy New Year Jon.

Paul:  Thank you!  The circular staircase in the back was the feature that turned this into a "must do" for me.  The initial interest was based on the bay windows at the shop level with the stone columns... but then I found pictures showing the staircase and it was all over from there!  :D

Matt:  Thanks!

I've spent the last couple days beginning the textures for this one.  Having let this one rest for such a while, it's taken me a lot longer than usual to break this back apart and figure out what I named all the pieces again!  (I'm actually curious this time just how many individual pieces there are... I may just completely break it up to see)  There is still a little bit of modeling to be finished, but nothing major at this point.  This is still a pretty rough preview and a lot of things need adjusting, but it gives an idea of where things are headed.

I'm thinking the overall color is too dark (or maybe just too brown) making it look more like some of the Maxis tenament high rises that nobody likes.  :D  So I need to fix that somewhat... and then make all the little detailing pieces jump out a little more.  I knew going in that this was going to be a tough one just because there really isn't an accent color to provide contrast.  So I need to tinker with things some more to make them stand out despite being the same color.  It's coming along though.

Wow! This one's looking fantastic, Jon!

Personally, I like the brown color, too, though I'm sure whatever you come up with for it will be absolutely stunning.

I do have a question--how big is the lot for this one going to be? I went back over your previous posts but didn't see anything.

No matter the size, it's going to be great!

I think something orange-brown would look nice =)

and yeah... i think there were several huge brown tenements that Maxis made xD
