That's beautiful right there. I can see the English style in there, but that balcony reminds me of some things I've seen in Italy (specifically Venice) ((and specifically pictures, as I've never actually been)). You certainly found a fine bit to show us, and I'll be waiting to see where it's going to go from here.

Also, side note, did you ever finish those train stations shown at the top of the page here?

How did I miss this? Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor.

Nicely done! It looks very much like the Hotel on Russell Sq.

If so, good luck with that beast (and I can take it off my to-do list  :satisfied:)

welcome back jon- you were missed! the teaser looks awesome so far, can't wait to see the finished product  &apls

Arne:  Thanks!  I had a feeling you might recognize this one...   ;)

Girafe:  Thank you!  Yes... there are almost too many details on this one which is certainly part of the slower than normal progress.

Jack:  Thanks!  No frost in sight here... in fact it's been hotter the last few days than most of the summer was!

Joan:  Thank you!  The actual building is actually a hotel.  I'll probably also make a residential version as well before all is said and done.

Guillaume:  Thanks!

Art:  Thank you... I think?   :D

Matt: (threestooges)  Thanks!  I'll get to the train stations in a moment.

XiahouDun:  Thank you!  Sorry if I caused any unecessary discomfort!  ;)

Aaron:  Thank you!

Matt:  (mattb325)  Thanks!  It is indeed modeled after the Hotel Russell in London.  I have very few pictures of the sides or back though, so I'll be inventing a fair amount.  Might be a good idea to wait and see before crossing it off your list!  :D

Edge:  Thank you!

OK... so I had this update ready last night, but thought I should probably go to bed instead.  Now I find myself with a couple extra minutes at work and figured I might as well do it now.  (Don't tell my boss... which is myself... OK?)

This represents the final width for the font of the building... which is just a hair over 6 tiles.  As you can see from the corner towers, there will be an additional three floors above most of what I've finished so far.  (I also have to do the bases for said towers, but that's pretty obvious.)  If you're really paying attention, you'll probably notice that this is much smaller than the first picture I showed.  I originally made things a touch bigger than normal in the hopes of including more of the details.  Unfortunately, as this grew, I quickly discovered that it was WAY out of scale... so I scaled everything back in BAT before rendering the preview.  I'm hoping I can get away with that (which I don't normally like to do) rather than start the whole thing over!  But we'll see how that ends up.

As for the older projects at the top of the page... I managed to locate the Feige Building (meant for a diagonal corner) but I'm really not happy with it anymore.  I would be much better off scrapping what I showed and simply starting over.  Not sure when I'll get to that, but it is back on my list.  The FAB buildings that people asked about are also still floating around waiting to be finished.  I have a couple ideas about that project which may cut down on the number of different lots, but I have to experiment a bit before I say more than that.  Finally, the train stations have completely disappeared, I'm afraid.  I haven't been able to find them anywhere and have no clue what happened to them.  I can't even remember if they were finished or not to be honest.   &mmm  I'll keep digging when time allows, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high.

That's all for now,
JB

Hmmm... I seem to have disappeared... again!!!  Feel free to yell   :angrymore: chastise  "$Deal"$ and maim   ()testing()  as you see fit.  At the risk of sounding like a broken record (since broken CDs just don't really play anyway) I'll offer my apologies one more time on the off chance that y'all have even a tiny shred of faith left in my ability to post more than once every six months.   ::)

Anyway, I'm actually on a break from work as we speak (type and read?) so I wanted to get back into some things here.  (In case you're curious to know just how far behind I am, let's just say I'm aware of the new NAM but still haven't had a chance to download it!)  I can't really make any progress on the building shown above because it's stuck on my computer at home and I'm not there right now!  I was in Los Angeles last week and am now back with the family in Michigan, but I forgot to move that building to my laptop.  So, in the meantime, I thought it was about time to finish up some older projects.

Perhaps you recognize these?

These are three (of a definite eight) corner buildings for the FAB series.  Last time I showed these, they were incomplete and not textured... now they're done.  Eventually, I want to have two buildings for each of the four situations:  Outside corners Right and Left as well as Inside corners Right and Left.  Hence the eight choices.

You may be wondering what happened to the FAB models that don't sit on corners.  They are still coming, but I think I'm going to change my plan for how I go about them.  Rather than fill the menu with a gazillion (which is a lot, by the way) different lots for all situations, I'm going to take a prop family approach and make multiple store fronts to fit on the same buildings.  That way, I can just make 1, 2, 3 tile wide lots facing right or left and that will be it (mostly).  The rest will be random store fronts to make up the variety.

Anyway... that's where things stand for now.  More on these next time.  Until then, I wish everyone the merriest of Christmasses!!!

great news that youre back again.  the FAB buildings look great and using prop families is a great idea, rather than having a gazillion (yes, that is a big number!) lots.
keep up the great work, merry christmas, and i look forward to seeing what comes next.

6 months or whenever Jon, it's good to see you back at it; besides 6 months of dust really hasn't done anything to hurt the product. I'd almost forgotten about these, but it will indeed be nice to see them in the game. Hope you stay warm back up there. Merry Christmas.
