Pat:  Thanks!  I'm kind of glad you like it, but then again...

The latest building got corrupted while I was finishing up the textures on it.  I thought I had a backup from before tonight's work somewhere, but apparently I thought wrong.   >:(  I wasn't really having much luck getting it to look right anyway... so I may or may not redo the building.  We'll see.

On a positive note, I did make a second color (pale yellow siding) for Evergreen Hills.  I'll show some shots of that when I finish the lighting tomorrow.

That's too bad, sorry to hear about that.  I don't know how long you spent on this BAT, but I'm sure it's very fustrating no matter what.  I hope you will try to remake it.  Sometimes the second time around things turn out better.   ;)

Pat:  How did you know that the new siding color came out of this building?  That's amazing!!  :D

Robin:  It is definitely annoying.  I should really count myself lucky as this is only the third time it's happened to me.  By my standards, I didn't lose a ton of time really... maybe 3 or 4 hours, much of which was just figuring out the roof angles.

I'll probably remake the building tonight.  My attitude yesterday wasn't so hot after the workday ended, and having the file eat itself was just the last straw.  Since I have all the textures made for the building already, it really shouldn't take long to remake it at all.

More tonight (when this 12 hour day is over)

Yay 12-hour days... good times... but hey, at least you know exactly what you plan to do when you remake the building. Sorry to hear that the first one went away on you though. I'm glad to hear you'll be making them again. Even though they aren't the most appealing, there are a number of them that I have seen in the LA area. I'll still be looking forward to the surprise you have in store too. Take it easy JB.

Just browsed through the last couple of pages in this thread.

Boy o Boy, more great stuff to look forward too.

JBSimio, when ever your stuff is released, you know I'm gonna use it!

Continued beautiful work.

Zaphod

Its so ugly its one of the greats &apls

I hope you don't worry to much about the chimneys and just release these
War Kittens !?

JBSimio

Matt:  Yes... I did in fact make it again.  Your "surprise" is still coming!

Pvarcoe:  Nice to see you again!  Thank you!

Zaphod:  I guess that was a compliment!  LOL  Not to worry... chimneys don't take too long to move!

OK... couple things to show tonight.  First is the second color for Evergreen Hills.  This also shows the chimneys in their proper place and the lighting.  Not much else to really say about this one.  I think it's pretty much done though.

Next up is Camalot Apartments.  I'm still tinkering with a couple things... mainly the roof textures and trim around the dormers.  I'm having trouble getting the shingle sizes right on the two different slopes.  But this gives a much better idea of what it's supposed to look like when it's all said and done.

That's about it for now.  Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Very interesting.  They sort of remind me of JaWood's old town home and apartment complexes.

These models look so much like the standard issue small apartment buildings here in the east coast of Canada it's not funny. Excellent work as always and I look forward to using these great buildings in game. ;D
Go Sens!!

JBSimio

Robin:  Thank you!  I'm getting there, I promise...

Strech:  Thanks!  Westlake Academy is still being worked on.  I actually got the main academic building exported a couple nights ago.  I could probably finish the one lot fairly quickly, but I have a lot of little pieces and props to make for the modular part of the project.  I'm still working on it, just don't have anything worth showing at the moment.

DuskTrooper:  I had to actually go look for them to see what you were talking about! :D  Thanks... and welcome to the thread!

Jason:  Since it's the look I was shooting for, I guess that's good then!   :D

Figui:  Thank you!

Simdad:  Thanks!  I guess the beauty of these is that they're so darn generic that they can fit just about anywhere.

Just a quick update tonight.  I think I finally got the roof pieces sorted out and put the finishing touches on this one.

I've also sent the first couple apartments to Cycledogg, who offered to make foundations for me.  Hopefully I did everything right for that part of the deal and I won't have to fix things later!  In the meantime... tonight's sunset was pretty nice:

See y'all later!

I really like the siding textures on that one- and the subtle night-lighting is great.

Travis:  Thank you!  So as to avoid making you wait too long, here is "more."   ;D

Figui:  There are one or two advantages to living where I work!

So I've been putzing around with what Matt probably didn't realize he was requesting at the time.  I've always loved Victorian architecture, but because many of the details are so small, I never really made much in that vein.  I thought I'd try making an apartment complex with some Victorian influences in the hopes that the larger scale would help make some things a little more noticable.

The following disclaimer was provided by the lawyers at JBSimio Inc. and Monkey Around Productions:  Please note that the following building and its architectural features are merely inspired by classic Victorian architecture.  It is in no way meant to be an accurate reproduction of the time period in which this style of architecture was popular in the United States.  As the aforementioned building was imagined to be constructed in the mid 1980's using the building materials and methods of said era, it would be impossible to assume that the style was faithfully represented therein and therefore would translate thusly into the 3D model currently under discussion.  That being said, JBSimio Incorporated (and its subsidiaries) hereby absolves itself from and will not be held liable for any errors or omissions based on technical merit that may be anticipated by making reference to the term "Victoian architecture."  Any said errors and/or omissions can and should be traced back to the builders and developers (whether they be real or mere figments of the overactive imagination of the company's president and CEO) who originally erected the structure in the admittedly cheap, prefabricated, and shoddy habits inherent in suburban apartment construction over the last several decades.

Man... I hate it when the lawyers get involved!  Awfully long winded, aren't they?  I think they're just trying to remind everyone the the building has some Victorian styling and influence, but that I've taken a number of liberties to make whatever I feel like making.  ::)  Anyway... here's a look at what I have so far.  Front view on the left, and rear view on the right.  No textures or anything like that yet.

More next time!
