The result looks very good JB.

I like the way it has worked out.

hey, an idea: curved glass on a starbucks building!

JBSimio

Dragonshardz:  And so it shall be... thanks!

Pat:  Thank you!  I have an idea of where a similar feature might go... but we'll see about that when the time comes. ;)

Duane:  Thanks!

TopCliff:  A brick silo, huh?  :D  I suppose I could hide that in the agricultural school somewhere...  ::)

Strech:  Thanks!  The new look is growing on me too.

Dragonshardz:  Everyone keeps asking me to make coffee buildings... I don't even like coffee!!  :o   :D

I got a lot done today, although for some reason it doesn't really feel that way.  Probably because everything in today's session was just time consuming type stuff.  I got the textures mostly finished... the lighting is about 85% done... and the major modeling is done.  Here's a look at the DeBussy School of Design:  (who better to name it after, really?  have you seen what this guy can do?)

"But Jon... it looks so empty!"  Well of course it does... there's nothing inside yet;)  The next step is to add all the "life" inside and outside on the patios... people, benches, whatever else randomly pops into my head at the time.  I still have some tweaking to do with the lighting inside the skylight and glass wall areas.  I also have a few more details to add here and there.  Nothing huge... but it will be another one of those tedious things to finish when I get there.  Other than those things, this is just about wrapped up.  Anything else I'm missing (besides a coffee maker)?

Coooool. University buildings? Look like dorms.
The most astounding and unique aspect of the human race is our fervent application of our ingenuity to kill each other, thus completely defying the near-universally proven fact that the ultimate goal of a member of a species is to ensure the survival of the species.

Superb, absolutely superb. I can't see anything that needs adjustment, as far as I can see, it's ready for the details. The name is quite fitting. I've seen his work (though strangely, I've yet to comment in his thread) and it is amazing. Regarding your current model, I like the satellite dishes and the ladder, nice touches. Out of curiosity, is that square near the lower dish the entrance to the roof? or is there another ladder I haven't noticed? Looking good as always.

XiahouDun

Night lighting is simply amazing :o It seriously has taken this from a great BAT to one of the best ever &apls

You may have meant to search for Houdini. (result of searching for XiahouDun on SC4D)

Very nice school Jon  I like what you've done with the stairs, it looks very special. My only suggestion is that you could give the orange nightlights a bit more intensity. Not much, but a bit :)

xxdita

Don't know why I was worried, the new entrance looks stunning. Though I do hope we get to see that curved glass on something soon. Excellent name too.

Me....I want to enrol at the DeBussy Design School ;D  I think we also need the JBSimio School of 3D Design for Games as an adjunct to the DeBussy School.  ;)

Jon, the building looks fantastic. The name is very fitting, his work is simply amazing. What I like about the building is at first it looks like a generic university building, then you see the stairs that go every which way, and then BAM! You see the glass atrium which tells you it's anything but generic. :P

&apls &apls Still amazing work you do . The nightlighting is just perfect and nice desighn too. Great job

I'll go with the consenus here Jon....stunning building.....like I said before....can't put my finger on any "one" thing that makes it stand out...just a whole lot of things that combine for a really standout piece of art.

so there....

Looks great. One of your best buildings for this project. Maybe add a statue or some art, I dunno. Later.

I'm really enjoying the skylights.  I also like the faded brick texture, it looks like Washington Hgih School

Sim Shady

Man we gotta hook you up with some of the glass textures that Paulvmontfort or Simfox are using on their buildings.  Gotta say, I love how everything has come along

Flame1396:  University buildings indeed!  The latest dorms are a few pages back though... ;)

Matt:  Thank you!  Here are your details!  The square you mentioned is meant to be a trapdoor type of roof access, yes.  I didn't think the usual "stairwell shed" would look very good on this one at all.  :D

XiahouDun:  Thanks!  I really like how they turned out as well.

Tag One:  Thank you!  I turned up the interior lights just a bit more.

Xxdita:  Thanks!  I'm sure it will make an appearance somewhere... ;)

Existenz:  Thank you!  I'll need to get a bigger ego before I can make a JBSimio School...  :D

John:  Thanks!  This evolved into much more of a showcase type of building than I originally anticipated.  I'm glad you like it!

Kimcar:  Thank you!

Duane:  Thanks!  I'll take it...  :D

TopCliff:  Thank you!  A modern art sculpture of some sort would probaby be very fitting.  Hmmm...

Rushman5:  Thanks!  The brick textures for the university buildings and Washington High School are pretty close now that you mention it.  Which is kind of funny because they were both made totally separate from each other.  Oh well... stranger things have happened...  :D

Sim Shady:  Thanks!

So I should have been in bed a while ago... but sometimes I get a little carried away.  I think this one is pretty much finished.  There are a couple minor things I want to fix, but nothing huge at this point.  I tweaked the lighting a bit more... added some people and other stuff inside and outside.  If you look close enough, you can see some models in the studio.  I was going to make a model of this model inside and set up that wierd endless mirror thing... but then I slapped myself and also gave myself a lecture on needless silliness.  Once I got through with my self-imposed time out, I finished all the railings.  That part took forever and is probably why I'm still awake right now.  But it needed to be done and I like how it turned out.  So here we go...

That should just about wrap things up for this building.  That makes three... ;)

Looks like another one well done. As far as needless silliness goes, just because there is no need doesn't mean there shouldn''t be any... I've seen many buildings with a model inside (granted it would be difficult/impossible to see here and it would be an interesting render to have the endless mirror effect). The railings really make the patios stand out an I like the desks inside (though I'm sorry to see that the curved glass didn't make the final cut of this one... and I'm sorry to admit that it took me this long to notice with all the new developments distracting me) but as long as it makes it into another BAT then it should work out. Have a good night and get some sleep. Out of curiousity, where do you get your people models (or do you make them yourself)?

tag_one

Looks much better now  I love the way the interior looks, it also great that you can see the details of the wooden floor :)

oldrogue

First of all Jon....needless silliness is what life is all about... ()stsfd().....and I should know....love the railings also....when set against a campus background they should standout very nicely.  A point of curiosity on my point...will the lot have much shrubbry surrounding the building....or be more subdued?   I would think the latter would porbably be the case in this instance.....but that's just one silly opinion..... ::)

PS...you are so cruel.....getting us all excited about release two and it's still a while till the original comes out....sheesh....

Nicely done. The details look great.
