hey blade, i was looking for some of the maps in this thread on the LEX but couldn't find them - well, specifically the Pensacola, FL map because it's "home" and the Houston map just because I live here now. did the search button do me wrong?

rooker1

If I remember correctly, blade sometimes puts the maps in packs and if that still doesn't work try Simtropolis' STEX.

Robin  ;)

Ok, you did nothing wrong, neither map was available on the LEX, but now Houston is.  You can find it here... http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2637

As for Pensacola, it's available on the STEX over at SimTropolis, but at the moment, as usual, SimTrop is being it's usual slow ::) to load self and the search function for the STEX leaves something to be desired. &mmm  As soon as I locate the Pensacola map, I'll link you to it from here.

That is correct Rooker.  I'm not sure if the Pensacola map is in a pack though.

EDIT:  SimTrop finally loaded and I found the link for the Pensacola map.  It's part of a Florida 4-pack and here's the link... http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/20547-nhp-florida-4-pak-by-blade2k5-and-papab2000/

Thanks! Yeah, Simtrop wasn't working when I asked - I was getting errors for days straight. Thanks again for all your efforts!

hi blade,
Very thanks for your map works...

I downloaded your Adelaide map & generate it from SC4Terraformer with the .SC4M file,
but the maps's waterfront is roughly coast(rectangular shape), not like yours above - smooth, curve coast...

how to improve it? I can't open to use SC4Mapper

thx

Open the region in TerraFormer again and use the smoothing tool to soften the coastlines, save and your good to go.  You'll find the smoothing tool under the Zone Tools tab located on the left-hand side of the TerraFormer screen.

Hey Troy,
I hope all is going well for you.

Quick question for ya.
All your maps are done from DEM and satilite so the terrain is very accurate, correct?  Why is it than that this does not really work for the water portion of the maps?
I just DL'd the Phili map and loaded every tile and had a close look at the shore lines, they all just drop right off.  Is there a way for you to fix this or do I really need to terraform this all by hand?  Would this require shades of blue.....just guessing here.  But I thought I would ask.

Thanks in advance.

After a long hiatus from map-making, I'm back....sort of.  I recently found my Photoshop 4 disk and was able to re-install the program after getting my new triple-core processing motherboard, plus I also had the disk drawer fixed after it refused to open.  Anyways, I'm not going full steam ahead making maps again, but will occasionally release a new map here and there.

The first is an accurately scaled map I took some liberties with and adding it to my series of 'Somewhere In The World' maps.  This one is a river map and the data came from somewhere in the western hemisphere, though I can't remember exactly where.  It is 10x8 [40km x 32km] large tiles in size and should be available within the next week to 10 days, but here's what it looks like...

As for your question rooker, yes, you'll have to edit the riverbeds yourself as the data gives you what you see.  I don't bother doing it myself because as far as I'm concerned, what the riverbed/seafloor looks like is irrelevant and doesn't matter to me in game play.  Also, it gives the user the opportunity to make their version of said map unique to anyone elses if they so choose.

What an amazing thing it was to get an email informing me that there's been an update to this thread, and then being pleasantly surprised with this awesome map!

I've always been a huge fan of your work, and this one in no way detract from that opinion! I love it! :)

Hey!  What's up man?  How ya doing?  Took me a few seconds to remember who you were.  Now if only beskhu3epmn, papab2000, JP and a few other of our members would return, we could have us one heck of a party.  Bubbly champagne anyone? :D

Yes, it was no mirage.  I am really back. ;)

The techniques I use are rather simple, so simple in fact I could pump out 10-20 maps a day if I so choose, but I'm not going that route this time around.  I've found other hobbies and I've been playing the game a lot the past several months.  I most likely will do a map every few weeks or so, but not nearly as many as I used to.  I'd rather sit back and see what other mappers pump out so there are no repeats, like there has been here and on the STEX.

Glad you liked it rooker.  By the way, I noticed you were the last one to post in this thread some time ago and left a question for me.  Next time I don't respond quickly, feel free to send a PM as I get e-mail alerts just for PM's.  I could have answered that question a long time ago and not left you hanging all that time.
