Current project: Movies 14

You may have meant to search for Houdini. (result of searching for XiahouDun on SC4D)

You're probably right, though I've never seen it abbreviated like that.  Unfortunately, it'll be some time before I get around to doing the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

Any chance you could upload the Wichita map?
Another request: Could you take your Philadelphia map (which is really great) and rotate it some degrees so that it is easier to recreate the downtown area? I mean a slight rotation so you can build straight, 90degree road, because angled road are hard to build in SC4.

blade2k5

All U.S maps that were featured a dozen or so pages back that haven't been released yet will be within the next few months.  As for the Philly map, I'll ask around if someone would like to do that for you.  Right now, I have several other requested projects I'm working on that I want to finish and not put off to the side.  In other words, I don't have the time right now.

Just wondering (pardon me if this was answered earlier on) what the scale is on the maps, and how you create them. I've had some thoughts of making my own maps, but these two have always been the sticking point for me, and the few maps that are out there of the geographic places I want are cut off at weird places. (For instance, the one of my metro area that I've found, cuts off most of the northern suburbs, and cuts off the eastern suburbs just short of my house).

EDIT: Turns out you also did one I hadn't seen (your San Diego on pg 2)... which does just barely cover my neighborhood - it would be in the 8th square on the top row - but is missing the whole north side. I know that would make it huge, though... course, if you went away from rectangular regions you might get San Diego better. (There really isn't much to the far northeast or southeast, and the southwest is ocean).

Hi my friend  :)
So many times that I didn't go there. Your work is as well super. The last maps are incredible
I'm looking forward to the next maps

I use USGS DEM data [Digital Elevation Model] when creating U.S. based maps.  Through a 4-step process, I convert that data into a workable 16-bit grayscale png image which I then can import into SC4Terraformer.  The maps are accurately scaled for both size and elevation.

Which areas are you referring to that are cut off in 'weird' places?

I know the San Diego area very well [I'm originally from Santa Barbara and have been to San Diego hundreds of times...it's my favorite city in Ca.], what part are you looking for?  I know the version I have uploaded gets cut off just below La Jolla, but I do have a northern section of city already mapped and ready for release when papab2000 and I release our California Map Paks in the next couple of months.

The reason I went with the rectangular sized maps of SD was because I like mountains on my maps, as do others and wanted to give a little bit of everything to please all who download the SD map.  And you're right, trying to cover the entire SD metro area would have been a huge map, to big to upload here or at ST, which is why I decided to do a southern section and a northern section that would cover an area from the Mexican border to just north of Escondido.

Hi Troy,

I have to say that your newest maps (England) were just amazing! I love the Liverpool one. It's gonna be great fun to develop it ;) Also, Tennesee maps? Sounds awesome! ;D

One little thing, though. On the exchange uploads of your England maps the pictures are switched, I mean, in the Liverpool/Manchester there are pics from Brighton-Worthing/Plymouth. You may want to fix that ;)

Keep up the good work

Thanks, glad you liked them.  Yeah, I've known about the pic screw-up for a few days now, but have been obsessing about my favorite tv program over at scifi.com ::)  I'll try and get the pics fixed tonight when I plan on uploading the Tenn Paks

Wow, just DLed all the maps, they look great, I didn't realize just how big Knoxville is!  Now I have a lot of things to mess with for the next few days, I'm gonna be putting in all the major roads in their exact locations!

I generally gather the surrounding areas of the city proper just to make sure I've gotten everything, so most likely the map covers some rural areas around the city.

Hey Troy,
Great to see some more maps.
I have never really worked on a map with rivers, might be interesting.
Awesome work.
