Is anyone aware of an exemplar that can be tweaked to constrain a ploppable to either the X or Y axis?  I'm thinking here about power poles (telephone poles where I grew up).

These used to line rural roads and railroad tracks in the 'states.  It would be great to be able to freely plop them in ROWs and have the crossbars oriented in the correct direction.

Could it be possible to replace the standard power lines with wooden ones like these? Or perhaps make them an additional draggable "network"?

I understand that what can be done with the current high current power lines is limited, but so many other things have been overcome lately that it wouldn't surprise me if someone found the solution to this problem as well.

Cheers,

I dont understand what is meant by orthogonally constrained?

It is possible to make rural lines draggable, however they wont carry power (which is pointless)

How ever there was a very interseting picture at ST, which showed a mdd that someone had made to make skilifts based off the powerpoles, the interesting thing was he managed to get them to be able to work with power lines.
I'm sure not many people would like if the power lines were replaced by skilifts. So there was Power lines and skilifts in the same picture, but whether the skilifts carried power I don't know.
