$1.51 here now... with some of the more expensive stations (Shell, BP) back up to around $1.70/gallon.

I think it is because of some greedy people in certain places.  ::)

Of course it is!  :P

Come on people, take an economics course, everyone gets mad at the oil companies but no one ever looks at the government that put up all the regulations on who can drill where, they make it take years to aquire a permit, the oil companies than have to fight off billions of dollars in phony lawsuits from environmentalist to produce the energy that we need. meanwhile big government takes 50% of their profits here in the usa right off the back, foloowed by a 64 cent per gallon tax on a gallon of gas that we consumers pay.(Cali) so we get taxed twice and what does the government do other than give monet to those who sit around on wel-fare. so now that i've finished ranting, we're paying 1.53 per gallon and our government is getting almost 1.20 of that for doing nothing

diesel is about 90 cent/liter around here. regular around 1.05 euro/liter. As Andreas mentioned, it's much less then the summer peak, but our prices are still higher than the peak prices in the US.

OPEC will probably slightly reduce capacity, but prices won't rise until the economy picks up again. Ironically, the economy will probably start picking up soon (in a couple months) since oil prices are low. For those somehwat familiar with system&control sciences, this is a nice example of an oscillating system because of the large delay in the feedback loop.

We're down to the $1.40s here now... I thought prices had bottomed out and started rising then, but apparently not. They're still falling.

Lowest in my area is $1.719 per gallon (or around €0.33/L), and that's just because New York has tons of taxes on it. This is the lowest I have ever seen them. Certainly since I started driving a year and a half ago. Here's hoping we drop below $1!

Heh, in Germany, there's like 0.80 €/L of taxes alone, and the rest is the actual price of the gas... (about 1.07 to 1.11 €/L at the moment)  &mmm

Gas prices here have been insane.

During the summer it was about 3.50/gal  and then the hurricanes hit the gulf coast, shutting down almost all the pipelines to the area (Knoxville, TN) and gas hit $4.50-5.00/gal for about a week.  Highest gas prices in the entire country.  Normally our gas is .20 less than the average.  We had shortages everywhere for a month.   Now I've seen it as low as $1.39/gal  and it could easily go lower.

3 cheers for the recession!

We're hovering in the $1.30's here, but I've noticed a slight rise in prices over the past week or so. 6 months ago it hit $4 here, and $5 just south in the Outer Banks.

But how long will it last?  &mmm

last time I refueled my (diesel) car at 0.786€/l, the lowest price in over 4 years! seems funny just this summer I was complaining about 1.35€/l :)

oh, and for the americans I did a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation on the mileage of my car, apparantly it does around 50 miles to the gallon ;D

Quite interesting that you bump this thread again... Here, gas is almost as expensive as last year - currently 1.379 EUR per liter for Super (premium) at the local gas station. Diesel is a bit cheaper (1.129 EUR), but since a few weeks, prices went up all the time...

Inside the Metro Vancouver area the price is around a $1/Cdn a litre. Outside it ranges 20-30 cents cheaper due to the Translink tax (Translink is the company that runs our public transportation system, but is also responsible for upkeep of roads/bridges). Personally I am somewhat okay with the tax because it is helping to expand our elevated rail system to the much needed outlying suburbs.
