Fascinating update. I hope there were some alternate routes to get to the island other than those bridges, or the city would've been stagnant for years!

Looking forward to more!

Battlecat

Cool update!  Quite the expensive approach to solving a problem with overpriced land!  That's one rich region you've got going there.

Congrats, Zack!

Wow, I'm honored. It's a real pleasure to have earned a place here! And the staff could hardly have picked a better month for my place in the limelight. Once my summer school is over later this month, I'm going to post updates twice as often as usual - one every week, with special pics every Sunday or Monday. Thank you all so much!

(Personal replies will come on Thursday.)

Feel brand new. Be inspired.

citycapitalizer: Welcome to Nyhaven, and thanks for commenting! I agree that the Maxis buildings show up and repeat more often than I'd like, but at this point, I don't really have enough plugins to make using a Maxis blocker feasible. Besides, even Maxis made a few good buildings, even if they grow by the dozen. As for that skyscraper you're referring to, it's the Washington Tower, available on the STEX.

M4346: Thank you! I'm sure you're right about those owners of former waterfront property being upset about losing their views. Nevertheless, I'm glad you liked the update. Take care, my friend!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Thanks!

Albus of Garaway: Thank you! Those two bridges aren't the only ones that connect Hunters Island (which, if I haven't mentioned it before, is the one that got expanded in this update) with the western suburbs; just to the north of the newly-reclaimed land stands the 10th Street Bridge, which must have been a real nightmare to drive across while the old bridges were out of commission! Luckily, there's also an extensive car-and-passenger ferry service, which was undoubtedly expanded to cope with all the extra traffic.

Battlecat: Thanks! I'm sure the land reclamation project cost a pretty penny, but you're right about the Nyhaven metro area being affluent.

David (dedgren), Alex #2,  Albus #2, Glowbal, Battlecat #2, bat, Tomas Neto, Robin (rooker1), and GreekMan: Thank you all so much! I really can't express the depths to which I'm honored and humbled to have earned this distinction. Rest assured, I won't let this special month go to waste!

To start my time on OSITM off right, here are a couple of new lots I made for two squares in Nyhaven's inner city. First up is Saint Mark's Square, to the east of downtown:

I wanted this square to have a fairly urban yet refined feel to it, so I decided to fill it with ornate flower gardens and artistic hedges. I think it suits the neighborhood quite well.

I also redesigned Spring Square, to the north of downtown:

This square is based on my memory of Russell Square in London, which I last visited in the summer of 2006. That's why I went with dirt paths and open spaces in this square.

I'm considering packaging these two squares together with a couple others I've made (and some yet to be made) and uploading them to the STEX. I've asked this in my new lots thread and the "Show us your custom lots" thread, but I want to repeat it here: How many of you would be interested in downloading such a square pack?

Feel brand new. Be inspired.

Nice parks!  That first one is fantastic- very pleasing to the eyes.

Oh, congrats on the OSITM!
You're telling me I get to be home for more than 12 months?

Congratulations!  &apls

Those custom parks are wonderful.  Very nice.  ;D

memph

Looking good.

I'm working on a few low-medium density city tiles and really like some of your 1x1 and 1x2 buildings. What are they called?

Battlecat

Nice job on those two custom lots!  They both look fantastic!  I like the hedges in the first one.

I would certainly download those squares, my friend! They look very nice, especially the first one. I have a couple of places where I'd like to put them... ;)
