Hello all,

I would like to say hi  to everyone, This is where I will post any questions or pictures of my latest creations. As you know I like to bat, right now I am accupied with Canadian cedar houses. The first Question that I have is how do I take pictures of my bats in GMAX, I'd like to get some pics of my bats out for display, and a little criticism.

Good luck my friend!

Here are a couple pics of my house before render, It shows that it will render with lights, When I render and load it to SC4 the lights do not appear. Before I go through and put nitelite_ I want to be sure as I am friggin tired of going through the whole process. I use my game computer for render and creation and this computer to download to the net. It is a long process for me, so I need to gert it right this time. Any help would be appreciated.

Someone had said that this building was to big to be Chalet. Actually this building with a finished interior would be less than 2000sq ft, There are lofts that are up to 2500 sq ft, Sorry, This building is a Med Canadian Chalet, My next building which I'm going to post here tommorrow will be a small chalet with wood beam walk and overhanging roof with....you got it, great room, But first I need to figure out this whole lighting mess.

Nice work on the chalet! Although, could you merge your three posts together?

This is the 4th house in my series. It is a post and beam design. Two large cedar posts and cedar beam that runs the length of the house. The weight of the house rest here.this allows the builer(me) to openly explore more artistic features, such as the floor to ceiling triangular windows and grand fireplace.....and blah blah blah....any feedback would be welcome,

Thanks

Nice work on the houses. :) Can't wait for more.

Just a tip: Upload your pictures to PhotoBucket so we don`t have to click on the attachements.

Hey! :) I love this new house, but I have a recommendations. The house is too big. I would suggest you scale it down to one tile wide. To do it: right next to the select and move button, there is a button with a box inside another box. Click that, choose all objects in your scene, and then scale it down. Also, the method of nitelites you use is great for smaller windows, but if you want a true effect, I suggest using omnis, so it looks like light is coming from the house.

To use and omni, a few spaces from the "standard primitives" button (a sphere), there is a button with a light on it. Click it, and choose "omni". Change the name to "nite_omni", and make sure "on" and "cast shadows" is checked, make multiplier about 1.3. Then, click in your scene to place the omni, and use your viewports to find a where you want to put it. Render night. If it is too dark, change intensity, or, better yet, duplicate it by holding "shift" when you move it. Render, it will look wonderful!

Good luck! :)

Yesturday I decided to sit down and play my city. I havn't done this for while. I learned that ploppable houses and growable houses have different lighting. My ploppable houses which I always use after I create something never shows nightlighting, My growable houses have night lighting, both from the same model. I may have had nightlighting in my houses for a while and not even realized it.

Can anyone help me. A few months back I went through a house batting phase. Unfortuantly I could not use them because they did not render properly.I thought that maybe now that I have figured out nightlighting and texturing sizing I would be able to go through and rework my houses and make them playable. I am having one reoccuring problem that seems prevalent in all of those older batts. When I render them they all come out flat as pancakes. When I view the models through reader(Great program), it shows that only 3 sides rendered, and only one of those sides has any texture. I have gone through the bat very carefully and have checked for things that may effect the rendering, like checked boxes, shadowing..ec...Can any one help, someone who perhaps at one point in there modding career has had the same problem.

Hmmmm.... :-[ All I know from an experience before is that you must save your BAT something else. To do this, you may have a rig off, so you could try merge your BAT. Select all objects in your scene, not any rigs though, and click file > save selected. Create a new scene, and choose file > merge, and merge what you save-selected. Save this as something else, and test render. If this works, but if not you will have to post a question in troubleshooting threads, or send a message to other BATter, I suggest SimFox or Chrisadams3997. Good luck, let's hope this is fixed! :)

Thank you soo much, I was able to breath life back into these houses, I have actually taken this opportunity to upgrade them. I will be posting pics of my Med_Blue house series and my 4th Canadian chalet. With improved skinning and night lighting technique with omni lights, these houses are looking top notch. I will also be able to upgrade my chalet series to a finished state, thanks to Fatsuhono for the great advice.

This is my first photo bucket upload, I hope that this works. This is a level 3 medium wealth lot, this series starts as a low wealth with just the bottom floor, It will end as a high wealth lot based on low wealth.

Nice house! I like how it represents older houses (meaning, odd colors like the green house down near the bottom of my street that is 70 years old)

Can't wait for more!

A few photos of my new houses, These are suburban homes, they were designed after the residential neighbourhoods in my hometown of Winnipeg. I made a diagonal batt to see how it would look, It doesn't look bad but the footprint is huge. I am looking for a way to get the footprint indent down, If anyone knows please leave me a pointer. These houses are medium wealth but I have not designated a specific number as of yet.
