Joan (Jmouse): Hi, Joan! Yes, this region is going to take quite some time to even put a dent in, I believe! Even harder than developing it, though, is trying to envision what will go where throughout it. But however long it takes, I'm sure it will be fun!

Joe (JoeST): No, thank you, Joe!

Dave (tooheys): A lot of work, indeed, Dave! But, hey—it's not like I have anything better to do, right? Thanks for stopping by, my friend. It's always a pleasure to see you here in Marathon!

Robin (rooker1): Hi, Robin! I'm not sure if there's an emoticon for "thank you very much," but if there were, I would use it now! Take care, my friend, and I'll look for you on MSN one of these days. It's been too long!

Dark_Jedi06: Thank you so much!

carkid1998: Yes, indeed I will have fun! Hope to see you back again, my friend!

Don (homefryes): Hi, Don! You're right, it is a big one! Actually, the size of the region never really hit me until everyone pointed it out to me. There are upsides and downsides to large regions, unfortunately. The downside is, as you said, you can get frustrated or bored, but the upside is that you have plenty of room to all the settings—rural, suburban, urban, and all in between. We'll see where things take us, I guess! Thanks for coming by!

Jon (JBSimio): Thank you, Jon! And don't worry, I will always advertise your work. It's like advertising oxygen, everybody needs to have it!

Arthur (art128): Many thanks to you, Arthur, and to our friend, the pink elephant!

Luke09: Thanks, my friend!

bat: Thank you, bat! I'm glad you like it!

Battlecat: Thank you! It will be interesting to see how the island works in with everything. Hopefully how it's fitting in my head will translate, but who knows? Take care!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Hey, no problem! Any time you're looking for something you see here, just feel free to ask and I'll try to get you an answer as quickly as possible. Thanks for coming by!

Orange_o_: Bienvenue à Marathon! It's great to have you here, my friend. I'm glad that you're enjoying things, and I hope to see and hear from you again in the future!

I've headed back onto Marathon Island, and I'm working through another one of the island tiles to try and wrap it up like we did with Tile G earlier. Here's a taste...

Low income neighborhoods will probably be thematic on parts of the island, since they are a major part of any large metropolitan area. Plus, they're easy to build—multiple plops of the same building to give it that "mass-produced" feel—and they're fun to look at, in my opinion!

Also, we passed 1200 comments a few days ago, so I'd like to take this time to thank you all so very much for your continued support. To 1300 we go!

And speaking of support, I would like to point you all in the direction of one of SC4D's long-standing and outstanding MDs that is right on the brink of 1000 comments—Capporth City, by our very good friend bat. If you haven't been there before, you must check out his great animations that are used to supplement his wonderful work in the game. If you've been there before, head over and give it another look. You won't be disappointed!

More to come!

bat

That's a great new teaser there! Nice area around that highway!
Congrats on more than 1200 comments and over 33150 views!!!
(And also thanks for that little advert above!)

Looking forward to more.....

rooker1

Hey Dustin,
You know, I hadn't posted in here yet today because I wanted to see what others had to say about this great teaser pic and to come up with a few new superlatives.  But I still haven't had enough time to get out the thesaurus.  ;) :D
I am always astonished (1st) when I come here.  The work is always incomprehensible (2nd), inconceivable (3rd), incredible (4th), extraordinarly unique (5th) and that's just the pics....the rest of the work is stupendous (6th), phenomenally remarkable (7th).....wait a sec....I need to save some of these for the others.  ::)
This MD is really more than all the above, great work buddy.
Seeya around,
Robin
Call me Robin, please.

Battlecat

Great picture there!  That low wealth area looks quite good actually, very realistic.  The honest truth is that reality isn't always pretty, but you've come fairly close with that shot.  Looking forward to seeing the rest of this area.

metarvo

That's a realistic picture, Dustin.  Not everyone gets to live in fancy homes in RL, so why should SC4 be any different?  It's also great that you've finished the region's map.  Keep up the good work!

Find my power line BAT thread here.
Check out the Noro Cooperative.  What are you waiting for?  It even has electricity.

Here are some rural power lines.

Are you using the Euro Traffic or American traffic generator? Anyways I never have seen a city as bueatiful as yours are! Great job!

Alex

My new MD. Check it out if you wish.

Adrian, I miss you man.

bat: Hi, my friend! The advertisement is not a problem at all. With all the support you give to Marathon and to SC4D as a whole, you more than deserve it. And congratulations on Capporth City reaching 1000 comments!

Robin (rooker1): Seven superlatives! Lucky number, eh? Well, technically eight if you count "all of the above," but I'm not picky—I'd take one! Thanks so much, Robin!

Battlecat: Thanks! You're very right about reality, too, which is something that, while unfortunate, I'd like to try and illustrate as best as possible. I'm glad to hear that you think I'm doing a good job with it. Take care!

metarvo: Hi, my friend! I'm happy to hear that you like the map and our teaser shot, too. Hope to see you again!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Hi, Alex! Thank you, my friend! I am not quite sure which traffic generators I use off the top of my head, but I will definitely check it out and let you know! Thanks for stopping by!

There's a few things on Marathon's plate these days! First...

...we're looking at a bit of an addition and expansion of the Abitibi Square area shown in Update XXXII. And, more importantly...

...development off Marathon Island and onto the mainland is beginning, slowly but surely! Quite the project is on the horizon on this area, so it should be a lot of fun!

I'm also doing some pre-planning and brainstorming on some logistical things for Marathon, "the MD," here on SC4D. With 33—excuse me, XXXIII—updates already, the first post is starting to get a bit cumbersome, so that's one thing to be looked at in this "Spring Cleaning." Think 3RR Quick Finder, only with a little Marathon spin!

Much more from Marathon to come!

That lot looks promising Dustin !
Also, great development on the land.
The last picture with the highway and the high rise looks excellent my friend, I like the pedestrian bridge between little row house and ghetto.

Take care,

Arthur.
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

mightygoose

new network expansion looks good and a contents page/quickfinder would be tres cool
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....

bat

Nice addition on that LOT there! And looking forward to more from the mainland, also to the quick finder! ;)

Battlecat

Very cool to see the first off island highway.  It's going to be interesting to see where they go.

KoV Liberty

It will be so cool to see the new highway! I cant wait! Also which highway will you use? RHW or Maxis Highway?

Alex

My new MD. Check it out if you wish.

Adrian, I miss you man.

Luke09

Arthur (art128): Thank you so much, Arthur! It's always great to have you here!

mightygoose: Thanks! I'm still working the quick finder-like idea through in my head, but it shouldn't take too long to implement after that. Thanks for stopping by!

bat: Danke schön!

Battlecat: Thanks!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Thank you, Alex! Right now it's Maxis highway. I'm still trying to get the hang of the RHW, but I hope to have it in Marathon at some point. Take care!

Luke09: Thanks, my friend! Yes, I can't believe it's been 33 updates already, and at least 150 pictures, probably more. I'm glad that you're enjoying everything!

Well, I had a bit of an epiphany sitting here...an epiphany for me, anyway—I'm sure that someone else has thought of this before...

Why not replace the above-ground tiles of the underpasses by marrast with the tiles that match Abitibi Square? And it worked! I wish I could eliminate the arrows on the one-way ramps, but I can live with for what I'm getting in return!

More from this area and elsewhere is on the way!

bat

Great work on the Abitibi Square! It looks really beautiful!!!

Battlecat

Very clever indeed!  That looks excellent!

Jmouse

I really like that texture - glad you thought of extending it, too. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most effective..

Later...

dsrwhat316

Looking good, Dustin!

I have a question about your use of marrast's underpasses: did you remove the transit from the middle part you replaced? I'm assuming it used to be rail tracks there. If you didn't, you should remove the transit there, otherwise you might start to get some screwy pathing errors (maybe, I'm not an expert on that ::)).

Just use the SC4 Tool. When loaded, click on the button Visual editor for transit enabling your lots. Open your lot and click on the lot tab. Right-click the tile(s) that have a letter and arrow in them and select remove transit. Click save and exit. Now you should be ready to go!

... or you could try the non-modding way; just make the lot using the underpasses as props. But that's a whole new can of worms right there...  ;D

bat: Thank you!

Battlecat: Thanks, my friend!

Joan (Jmouse): Hi, Joan! Thank you so much, my friend. I wasn't sure about the texture when I first chose it, but I've really come to like it, and I'm happy to hear that you do, too! Hope to see you again soon!

Dan (dsrwhat316): Hey, Dan! Once again, you visit Marathon, and once again, I am in your debt! Thanks so very much for pointing this out to me, I will take care of it at once. I though about making my own lots using the underpasses as props, but your "can of worms" description popped into my head, too, so I went this route. Thanks for stopping by!

A bit more from the Abitibi Square area...

Seems as though it's becoming another multi-lot section, which is good and bad—good because they're fun to put together, bad because they have to look right when you put them together!

Tomorrow, it's supposed to be over 80°F / 27°C here in Pennsylvania, so I don't know how much I will be in the house in the afternoon. Hopefully, I'll get back to "all things Marathon" tomorrow evening some time.

Enjoy your weekend, friends!

bat

It looks beautiful there! Nice work on the details!
