Joe (JoeST): Yes! David certainly is a clever one, isn't he?

Guillaume (Sciurus): Thank you, Guillaume! I had a feeling that just adding that on at the end wouldn't make any sense, but once again, you've given me the right answer! I'm glad that you like the cathedral area, too, my friend! Hope to see you again soon!

sebes: Thanks, my friend!

Arthur (art128): Thanks so much, Arthur! I'm glad you like it!

Matt (emmotic): Thank you, Matt!

Luke (Luke09): Thanks!

Battlecat: Thank you, my friend! I like the roundabout better, too. We'll see how it works out!

Joan (Jmouse): You're definitely right, Joan. Sometimes the best thing is to know when not to add something! Now, onto filling in the blank tiles! Take care, Joan!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Brilliant idea, my friend! It's downloaded as we speak! Thanks, Alex!

A little bit ago, our friend Robin (rooker1) suggested the idea of using prop families in the LE to avoid repetition. Well, when I headed back into the LE to put Robin's suggestion into action, I thought, "Why not take it one step further?" One step further with...

...seasonal trees! And even better, prop families of seasonal trees! And thanks to Alex (Driftmaster07), we've added the Alexander Column Roundabouts by Odainsaker to the roundabout in front of the cathedral.

In the meantime, though, back to the diagonals...

darraghf

Great Idea. Nice progress. I can't wait to see it finished.

Wow, that looks terrific. Didn't know you could use seasonal trees as props like that - I'll put them in my plugin folder later today when I go back into LE. Jeroni's trees look good in that setting, too. Those light green ones are my favorites. This is really coming together very nicely.

Later...

Great updates there! Also great work on that new square!!! It looks beautiful!

Oh I loved that mosaic with the modern, colonial and NYC styled buildings all in harmony with that buissey rail station!

Good luck on the new city.

My new MD. Check it out if you wish.

Adrian, I miss you man.

I really like the newest views of this square, Dustin!  The "Ben Franklin" avenue is an excellent adjustment and will really serve to set this area off nicely.  My own personal taste is still questioning the roundabout and its large column monument, but I have a feeling it will grow on me.  However, with the column in place, have you considered adding a reflecting pool (maybe using your favorite canal set) down the center of your new parkway avenue?  I'm honestly not sure how it might look, but it was just a thought that popped into my head when I saw the new layout.  Enjoy your diagonals!

That new version of the lot with props families is excellent and looks more real that the last one. Also, it's nice to put that column here, looks excellent.
Looking forward to more.

Take care,
-Arthur.

darraghf: Thanks!

Joan (Jmouse): Hi, Joan! The light green "Istrinius" trees are definitely a favorite of mine, too. Oh, and one caveat about using the seasonal trees in LE, make sure that you use all four seasons and that they are plopped right on top of each other. Otherwise, you'll either get trees that disappear depending what season your missing, or they'll skip around with each season if you have them plopped in different places. Good luck, my friend!

bat: Thank you, my friend!

danielcote: Welcome to Marathon! I'm so happy that you're enjoying things here, and I hope to see you again soon!

deathtopumpkins: Ha! Thanks so much! I didn't even realize it was #1400 until after I posted it. I was going to remove it and wait, but then I decided against it. Thanks for stopping by!

Luke (Luke09): Thank you, Luke! Not sure how development around the square will end up yet, but I'm sure there will be commercial somewhere in the vicinity. Take care!

Guillaume (Sciurus): Thanks, Guillaume! Oh, and don't worry, next time it's used, the banner will have the correct French translation!

Pat: Thanks, my friend!

Alex (Driftmaster07): Thank you, Alex!

Jon (JBSimio): Hey, Jon! Actually, you brought up a good point about the roundabout, too. I've been thinking about that a bit more, and I think I may have to come up with a different solution. I also like your reflecting pool idea, too, though I worry that at only two-tiles wide, there wouldn't be room for much else on the lots. I am certainly going to give it a try, though, and if it doesn't work here, I think I have a place elsewhere on the island where something similar will definitely work! Thanks for stopping by, Jon!

Arthur (art128): Thank you so much, Arthur! I'm glad you like the column, too!

Corey (Nexis4Jersey): Thank you, Corey!

Well, I wanted to get a bit more work done tonight, however, my girlfriend and I decided to—at around 9:00 PM EDT, to be precise—to do some pretty ridiculous furniture moving. We switched the bedroom with the computer room since the bedroom is an addition to the house and thus, is not hooked into the central air conditioning system. Now, the bedroom will stay nice and cool this summer. Right now, though, it was not a whole lot of fun taking apart everything and putting it all back in place only 10 feet away! But, it's another story for another day, I suppose...

Once we got everything into place, though, I've managed to sit down in the LE for a while...

...and bang out a few more diagonal sections...

...slowly, but surely.

Oh, and our good friend Jon (JBSimio) commented on the placement of the roundabout on the square—you'll probably notice that it's no longer there in our second picture above. I had been thinking over its placement before Jon commented, and after seeing his post, it cemented it for me! I like the roundabout and the column within, just not where it's located, so I...relocated them!

I think it works much better here now. What do you think?

Oh, and deathtopumpkins, another good friend of Marathon's, pointed out that, unbeknownst to me, I had made the 1400th post here in Marathon. Well, it seems that I did, but what makes it more remarkable is that the Commonwealth of Marathon has now become the first MD here at SC4Devotion to reach 1400 comments! We're notching the milestones here rather often lately, and I thank you all so much for making it all possible! Thanks again, friends! On to 1500 and beyond!

More to come!

Pat

Dustin you keep producing we'll keep on coming in!!! WOW!!!!!!

Very nice diagonals lots there Dustin, but one question, how can people  go in these lots ?  :D $%Grinno$% It's sure that they can go on the grass, but I think with some sunken plazas (I think it's from Deadwoods) that will looks great !

Take care,

-Arthur.

Heheh... Congrats, Dustin, that's quite a milestone!  &apls

As for those diagonals, they look spectacular, but what are you going to do if the denser development around that area turns the avenue sidewalks to concrete?

I would certainly say that you've earned this milestone, Dustin.  The new diagonals look very good.  Keep it up!
