Why are is there nothing around my building space?

AFter structures rise up, there are no driveways, trees, etc. I need to know how to change it back to normal from being a house surrounded by grass or concrete.

I could be wrong but it sounds like your graphics might be set to a low setting. I would double check to make sure that your graphic settings were not changed.
