To everyone who posted:

Thanks for visiting, and thanks for your kind words.

Art128:

Thanks for the advice. I have gotten the No Maxis mod for commercial now, so those ugly little towers can't grow at all.

Peter007:

Here is where the underwater flora came from. You will need to register, I think (if you haven't already).

The Update.

I set to work building some more residential and commercial areas, and I will firstly show off this tile:

Its at the edge of Suburbia and the city proper, on the coast, one tile west of the river mouth (Its facing the wrong way for the regional perspective). It, as you can see, features an upper class subdivision alongside the edge of a man-made inlet, also featuring a marina.

I constructed this image to show you up close, that man made inlet, and the housing alongside it. Please click for the full resolution.

I also made this wee mosaic of the area from the Western Suburban Motorway, (which is a part of State Highway 25, the main route from Auckland to the Coromandel Peninsula's towns such as Whitianga. - real life).

In other parts of the region, other things were going on.

I used the Mas71 walls to build these terraced suburbs.

I got this picture from the beautiful historical part of town by the river mouth. At the time of posting it was losing 7-1 in the picture contest :'(. Thanks for your vote Driftmaster.

In some parts of the town, a few of the once extensive tram routes are still maintained and used by commuters.

I kept developing suburbs, and got this picture from beside the river. Still going hard with the underwater plants, as you can see.

Anyway, thats about it for this update. See you next week!

Edit: Photobucket resized my mosaic. I'll have to cut it in two and upload again. Check back later.

Awesome i like the homes along the water

Great update! I especially like that first pic with the neighborhoods by the inlets, looks like somewhere I'd want to live. So many rocks, too, but I love those rocks. ;D Great job!

OK. Well, photobucket is being highly unco-operative, but I am uploading the mosaic chopped into 4 pieces as I type this. I just thought I would post some

Thanks! Mattb325 has made some superb house BATs, they're my favourites.

I'm so glad you liked it, and yes, I'm addicted to plop rocks and underwater flora!

Thanks for visiting my little MD. I consider this very high praise from such an accomplished MD author such as yourself.

djvandrake
Thank you. I do try hard with my shorelines (ATM I'm building a seaport - probably next weeks update.)

Battlecat
Like I said to Tomas, receiving such praise from amazing city builders like yourself is really encouraging.

Driftmaster07
Sorry, I didn't get the idea from you (though I did like what you did), In the real life Thames-Coromandel district, there is another medium sized town called Whitianga (these are Māori names, by the way) where a similar development is taking place, only the canals are curvier, and there will be less dense housing. I suppose I may have been influenced by your work. What I said to Tomas Neto and Battlecat also applies to you.

I've been building some industrial areas, as well as growing some more suburbs and midrise and highrise residential areas.

I plopped and grew (yes some of the this bit grew) a pedestrianised street based commercial area near to the river. Some day I will post a region view and show where each of the other updates came from.

And another, in the same tile as where I am developing a CBD.

Here's a little picture of the Thames City central business district. There will be many more pictures from here, don't worry. It isn't finished yet.

Sorry for the pathetic little update, but I have been building a seaport, making my own custom lots along the way. This is what will feature in the next update, which will come next weekend.

I like that mosaic contrasting the residential and industrial area, separated by the river.  And don't worry, it's not a pathetic update.  Though, it seems like it could be overshadowed by the next update.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I most certainly hope it will be overshadowed.

Thanks!

Thanks, There's more to come from the Thames CBD, don't you worry.

Djvandrake
Much appreciated my friend. I'm never really content with my industry zones, i'm afraid. They always seem to look so ugly and repetitive (and did you notice I was missing some dependencies? :D).

Tomas Neto
Thank you very much. I'm glad you liked the mosaic, since I was a little bit unhappy with it (I still showed it, so not too unhappy :D)

Now time for a:

No I didn't notice you were missing any dependencies.  :D  Repetition is a problem I have too, and I never really know how to "dress up" an industrial zone.  I'm good with trees and parks and those don't fit in industry.

Your teaser is fantastic!  Can't wait to see more of your seaport.  &apls

Battlecat

Nice job on that seaport!  Even though it might be a bit repetitive, it's very realistic.  Container ports aren't always the most visually exciting places in the world, but they are around.  Looking forward to seeing more of it!
