Update 14
The marine yard at Portus Fons Seltus has been finished and the long Rhine border is patrolled by ships built and maintained at the workshops here. The vicus that has sprung up next to the shipyards are mainly populated with Andicans who has come from the south of Andica. There are also some Roman veterans who have made their home here on the Fons peninsula.

First an overview of the yards and the vicus.

Secondly an overview of the finished shipyards

This is the main building and there are currently three ships under construction.

This is the main- and only gate into the complex which is surrounded by a broad moat the is connected to the river as well as wooden walls and towers.

The Romans have constructed an artificial island that has been connected with the rest of the complex with a wooden pier.

These ships have recently been finished and are soon to start their task as transports and patrolling.

The vicus also has a small harbour which is used by the fishermen and to ferry any civilians wanting to cross the Seltus on their way to Castra Hiranium

Hope you enjoyed this update and until next time.

Fantastic work. It looks like they chopped down many trees in the surrounding area to build the boatyard and the boats.

Hey Gjermund

QuoteThis is just such a great MD

Yepper bob - it is indeed.

My favorite picture this time is the one beginning with the caption "The Romans have constructed an artificial island" and I like that you're using a lot of little Roman soldiers in the scenes.

Not an easy subject matter you've chosen ... have looked at it by curiosity first , now I'm hooked by that kind of scenes we can't see anywhere else !

Easily one of the most original MDs out there.

Not only is the content original, but there is no lack of quality in your city-building or picture taking!

In terms of historical MDs, this is definitely the benchmark - one of those revolutionary MDs that has blessed us through the years!

Battlecat

Wow, the details are incredible.   &apls &apls

Looking forward to seeing more!

*writing this ashamed* Gjermund,  I cannot believe how on earth i managed to miss this MD totally - only today I found it. Of course, I am not very active anymore here for the past 1.5 years, but... i have seen some great MD's and this one being one of them that made me decide to at least once a week have a look again on what's new. For this MD ...

The historical pictures are amazing realistic and beautiful. I cannot even imagine how you do it... but am drooling over my keyboard. I will follow your MD from today!!!

Raphael - Indeed they have, but there is still so much forest in this area it hardly makes an impact.

Tomas Neto - Thanks a lot for your comment

Bat - Thanks for stopping by.

Peter007 - That is very kind of you. This is of course just a very small and unstable part of that empire :)

Peterycristy - Nice to see you here, and by far not as impressed as I have been by your batting, now that is high quality &apls

Jim - Hi there Jim. Well the Romans are doing their best to dominate the picture here :D  And after the last comment with the folks visiting the market I had to get some people in period costumes. Thanks for stopping by

Scott1964 - Thanks for visiting

Elias - Thanks

Cedric - Thanks, very nice of you to stop by here. I just see it as my little niche in the game and try my best to make something for you all interesting enough to have a look at.

Nedalezz - Hi, well if you enjoy this as much as I enjoy visiting Cedar... I have done a good job  :D

Battlecat - Still a long way to go before the detailing will be like anything you have achieved in Adara. But then again that is not really my goal. I find the development more interesting than making a finished tile. All that has been presented so far will start to change as we move further through the centuries towards our own time.

Matthijs - That is more Latin than I would be able to put together,  :D thanks for commenting

Yan077 - Thanks for your comment, glad you liked it.

Will - Thank you, nice to hear from you again.

Sebes - What a surprise to see you here. You have been missed of course. And I am very pleased that you have enjoyed visiting Andau. You know a little about how long I have been thinking about this.....and even if you will take another 1,5 years visiting again there will not be a huge amount of updates to look through. I am not rushing and every update takes quite some work to prepare,.... :D

Jason - Nice to see you here, and thanks for your comment. :)

Update 15
Castellum Carvo is another of the new military camps that has been constructed along the Rhine. This is an area that has been settled by the expelled Usipetes now forming a part of the Batavian tribe.
The Castellum is mostly used by cavalry troops and close by there are large stables for breeding and training horses.
There is has even been an attempt at building a large racetrack or as the Roman calls it a Circus or Hippodrome.

An overview of the area with the Castellum as well as the stables and the racetrack.

This area has quickly become rather popular for Roman veterans to settle, and the vicus in front of the Castellum are mainly populated by veterans with Roman citizenship.

The reason to settle here is the export of horses to the troops all through the province of Gallia Belgica which has turned out to become a quite lucrative business.

This is another attraction to the Romans who all seems to be fond of any kind of public spectacle.

At the moment they are only training, but still even this is attracting some spectators.

Thanks for visiting and again I hope you all enjoy this update.

And what an update it is  - you are very right!  Beter slow and great as this than a lot of updates and comments. Love the story and the quality Gjermund. Great to see that you can do now what you always wanted, and in such an excellent way!
