Well, folks, sorry for my little break, had a lot of stuff going on the past week.

This update will focus on Hampton's Castle, the castle near the top of the city tile, north of the lake, and at the end of the road we've laid down. This castle is represented by a wonderful BAT, made by xannepan, who is fabulous at making all BATs in Parisian style, as well as other French BATs. I rank xannepan along with Porkie as some of the best Euro BATers of all time. Well enough praising (although you can never get enough praise!) and on to the update.

Of course, being a castle it has to have some history. The castle was built by her majesty Queen Elizabeth I in 1599 for the royal Hampton family, close friends of hers. The Hamptons, Richard and Katherine, along with their 4 Children, Nicholas, Lileth, Nancy, and Richard II, and their maid, Alice, of course. The family had many dogs, mastiffs, primarily, and at the time you could have easily seen huge dogs prowling in the woods around the castle. These mastiffs were sent out to hunt fresh game for the noble family on the rolling hills around the castle many days of the years the family lived here.

In 1603, Richard Hampton died of, most likely, tuberculosis. Nicholas, who was next in line to be an advisor to Elizabeth I, had already died of tuberculosis? as well. That left Richard II, a small boy, only 5 years old, to be the head of the family. He was heavily assisted until his tenth birthday by the butler, and of course, Alice, as well as his mother, and afterwards was a very wise nobleman. In 1614, Richard II died at age 17, probably of tuberculosis. As you can tell now, tuberculosis was a disease that had completely ravaged the Hampton family. Two years later, it was revealed that Richard II had a son, Arthur, and that his sister, Lileth, was not the heir to the noble family's fortune.

The castle is now in the possession of Queen Elizabeth II, and the British Government, but of course, no person lives there, it is a national heritage site in Saybrook, and is not part of Britain at all. Tours of the castle are open to the public, and it is even somewhat tourist attraction in this rural corner of the land.

Here is a picture of the castle. I was originally going to have this be a night update, but for some reason, my nightlighting wasn't working.

Good work on the castle you just need work on the path leading to it.

Hey,
Your first "city" on the region looks really good with that lake  &apls Looking forward to more of that.
I personally would do something more with that castle, though. Maybe you could put some flowers or some other trees around it? And furthermore you could add the draggable paths by chrisadams instead of that roundabout, so that people can reach that castle without walking over plain grass  ;). Or: If you prefer that roundabout you could add some parking lots, so that the people can park there - this would add more realism

And one thing I have to say at last: The picture size for each picture (almost 2.8MB) is rather large considering the size. Converting it to a JPG would help a lot  ;).

Hope you don't find my criticism offending or so, though  :)

Keep up the good work so far - this MD has a lot of potential,
Fabian

Hey, sorry about the images being gone. I actually didn't know there was a difference.

So, I will have to figure out how to put the pictures in .jpg. This is hard because I have a very simple computer and the pictures from SC4 are already .pngs.

If anyone know an easy way to convert this could you please help?

Thanks and Sorry Modds,

Ethan

GIMP is probably the most popular free program. :)

You could try http://www.xnview.com/ which has batch converter
Or you  could try Clip2Pic which will take screenshot as jpg directly :)

Or simply open the pictures in Paint and save as in Jpeg..  :D But I think the easily way will be to use Clip2pic as mentioned Wouanagaine !

Well Yeah, I'm on Hiatus.

I should be back after a while with a kindof differentiation from Old Saybrook.

Although I won't be in this region, I might revive it if I get a new computer...

Thanks, Ethan

Just an announcement.

I've started on my new region, and I think that I'll actually finish it before I show you all.

Unfortunately, I can't get Clip2Pic to work.

Any help?

Ethan

soulchaser

if clip2pick isn't yours to use, try ZScreen...i use this, opening gimp automatically, whenever I take a pic!

This is not going to be an update, I just am going to tell you all that I am working on finalizing my region choice, and then I'll start updating again.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments, and suggestions at photo conversion. I think I'll try Irfanview.

Thanks, and see you all soon.

Surely the easiest way to have picture is .jpg format is to just print screen your simicty screen, then paste into paint and save as as .jpg file.

Photo editing programs will also work. Paint.net and Photoscape are two free programs which should do the trick.

Anyways, I hope you can get the pictures sorted out soon.  ;)

Well, this is the first teaser back from the break. This is just a teaser, so the full explanation of the town will come with the first update.

Conversion ended up to be so easy!

Thank you all for your support during my hiatus.

Well that's a nice looking batch of farmland already!  Looking forward to your first full update!
