Nice work on the zoo modding   This should help keep the menus from getting too extremely bloated.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

This trick might be nice for more files sets. As said: the procedure can be started all over when you bulldoze the main lot.
I am thinking of canal sets, park sets and the like: once you want to build canals or large parks in your city you plop the MML lot and when you think "I am finished for the next couple of days" you plop the "closing" lot. Would that be nice to have?

And I managed to get the Space Center into the AC Functional Airports.
For that I edited the Developer Exemplar and the Lot Exemplar with Reader. First I adjusted the lot size in both exemplars and exchanged the icon png. Then I opened the Space Center in SC4-Pim and edited the lot to my desire. I did not do anything else.
It is just that I don't know anything about the modding that had taken place to make the functional airports and so I am not sure if this procedure has negative effects. If not it might be allowed to release my edited AC Functional Airports, Version 2.1FvU.dat for those who want my space center in their set.
I asked these questions in the AC Airports forum. Hopefully I get an answer. It seems very quiet out there.

You've done a great job with the zoo, and I think it's a great idea having "opening" or "closing" lots in the menu. I hate when I have to scroll through lots of lots to find what I'm looking for, and that's why I hate plopping buildings. I have no patience for that and it would be a great upgrade to the game if we could have something like this in all the existing sets. Keep the good job!!  &apls

OK, last thing about the Reward Replacement Set: the only lot you still need is the Farm Fair (formerly known as the State Fair). You have to wait until the mrbisonm MFP set has been released, because you need that as a dependency.

Meanwhile I have done something completely different.

As a result of a question by ernestmaxis in w_swietwoot's thread about the release of his housing models I asked w_swietwoot if it was OK that I do the lotting to his models. As he is hardly active anymore he agreed and sent me the models. So now I am in the possession of three sets of housing models:
- a 1930ies double house set
- a 1930 row house set
- and a 1960ies row house set

First of all I show you the 1960ies set and what I have done with them.

Without further ado... here they are.

There are four models, each containing a row of 6 dwellings. The models are exactly two tiles wide, making te dwellings about 5,4 meters wide, which is quite realistic in our country. There is variation in the colors and materials of the facades and of the roofing. The interiors, I assure you, are identical.

I made stage 3 and stage 4 lots.

Stage 3, corner lots
Three tiles deep.
Two of them have a row of garages at the side, two have parking lots. You can also see that not all have the same depth of front yard. This means you can make some variation in your streets.

Stage 3, row lots
Three tiles deep.

Stage 4, row lots
Two tiles deep.

You can make these kinds of blocks with them.
All lots have many prop families, so there should not be too much repetition.

Looks great FrankU, good job!  &apls (not in the sense that I would want to live in a 5x4 m rowhouse  ;))!
But at least they have a nice backyard, haha.
Definitly something I would download & use!
Are the tetures sidewalk-mod-replacement compatible?

You out did it your self!
Nice to see the the Dutch lotting have some of the best Quality here on the Lex!
Can't wait for the 1930 row house set

FrankU

Hi Catalyst and Ernestmaxis,
Thanks for the feedback.

The 5,4 wide, often 9 meters deep, row houses are more or less the default housing for most of our people, so please be friendly!
And no, the textures on the lots are not sidewalk-mod-compatible. The sidewalks of the streets an avenues however are. I used CP's sidewalk mods in order to let the sidewalk match with the red brick texture on the lots.

I did another try to outdo myself again. I hope you like?
If you look closely at the back yards you will see that the fences disappear "under" the houses. That is a LOD issue that w_swietwoot did not fix. He knows how to do it but he had no time.
There are cars at the driveways: at night but also some at day time. Somehow in the examples there is hardly any car. Must be the day that they all went to the car wash.  &mmm

I have finished the lots and made Stage 2 and Stage 3 R$$ out of them.

You can combine the lots into interesting areas.

Stage 2, 2x3 tiles

Stage 2, 3x3 tiles

Stage 3, 2x2 tiles

Stage 3, 2x3 tiles

Good job Frank. I like the lots. Very usable lot sizes as well.

Those look superb, the lotting is excellent! Would very easily pass for suburban housing you'd see in the UK. I look forward to using this.

Nice lotting! I could definitely picture those in my planned city.

Thank you all for your encouragement!

I have continued and am now working on the 1930ies row housing. Wouter made four models, hence I made four lots.

These are 3x3 lots, R$$ Stage 3

I will add four other lots, sized 3x2 tiles, Stage 4
And maybe I will add another eight lots, so that I will have eight lots for both stages. Deoending on my time.

It's been quite some time, but here i am again.

Therefore a bit late, but Girafe and romuladillo: thanks for your compliment.

Now I have a new, sort of, project to show you.

As the Advent Calendar is finished and I still have to wait for mrbisonms Modern Farm Props, because of health issues, I decided to refurbish some of my old uploads.
The first one is the Container Terminal that I uploaded to the STEX on May 25th 2010. It has been downloaded 7172 times, so I can be proud of that, but the lots themselves do not meet the standards I have today.

What I did.
First of all I modded them with SC4-Pim, so now the stats are in balance. Furthermore I reduced the number of dependencies and I reduced the number of lots. Is the latter not a disadvantage? No it is not. Less lots give less trouble in the menu.

There are now four lots in the  set:
One 10 tiles wide Terminal lot with ship, cranes etc.
One 3 tiles wide Terminal lot for placing between the large lots or to make areas without a ship.
One 5x10 lot with Container Storage in two big blocks, including cranes etc.
One 5x10 lot with Container Storage in small stacks.

Literally every prop, except the seawalls, is part of a family and/or a prop variation set. This means that every time you plop a lot it looks different. Hence you need only one lot of every kind.

Here are the images

What do you think?

I am not yet completely finished, have to write the Readme, and then I'll upload it to STEX and LEX.

those houses remind me that one day I have to do a full (and for once) relot of all my buildings (in particular residential ones)  :-[ :-[

Good work so far FranK, both on terminal and houses!

mgb204

Great stuff on the container freight facility, that's one that caught my eye for sure ;).

As said before, your dutch housing fits with UK styles really well too, a pleaseant bonus since they are really nice models. Thanks for getting the lotting done so they could be uploaded .

p.s. I notice you're missing the T21 mod for the bikepaths, you should install it *hint*
