Hi all,

I thought I would post a couple of links to websites that I consider have useful information about bridges.  The structurae website is great if you know what you are looking for (i.e. you know the bridge name/type/location etc).  It has an extensive database of bridges from all over the world: Structurae

The Wikipedia article has some good photographs and some great information on how different types of bridges work: Wikipedia/bridge

Also, at the risk of sounding like I am requesting custom content, I have always been frustrated by the lack of options for light rail/elevated rail bridges.  If anyone is considering making el-rail bridges they would receive the strongest appreciation from here, even if they were simply converted heavy rail bridges (if that is possible).

The tutorial looks so well put together I might even have a go at batting myself!

Stewart

p.s. Sorry if my links don't work, I am a bit of an amateur here!
First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

jeronij

Stewart, your links worked fine, and the info is really really useful.

I have just released a version of the Tsing Ma bridge, which is an old project Smoncrie and me started a loooooong time ago, and I wanted to finish somehow.

Now I am ready for new challenges  ;D . A light rail bridge sounds good.

At the moment there are some issues with the textures, so I can not post them yet. I'll keep you informed.

I'm so glad more bridges are going to be made for SC4, because there is a big gap in the selection of bridges, and it starts to look weird when you have 3 Golden Gate bridges in the same city. :P

My modding and BATing skills are non-existant, so I'll just be watching this. And if you want, there are a few bridges I've seen that would look great if they were made for SC4, if you want me to post some pictures of them.
After a long absence, I'm back! And I will be starting a new MD soon.

Colyn

I have a problem with this bridge ...

... that is all I get.  :o

Ok, I cant check what is wrong now. I will lock the file and fix that this evening.

Ok, I found the mistake and corrected it. I will upload the corrected version later this evening. I have to remake the installer  ::)

Very nice looking bridge Jer. I still haven't done much about it (lack of free time), but anyway I'm waiting for the modding part where I know I can be of some help, as me and the Bat we're still trying to get acquainted with each other. Also this weekend it will be impossible to do anything because I'm heading to Sierra Nevada on Friday, to catch the last snows before the season ends. I'll be back on Monday. ;)

JBSimio

That looks great, Jeronij!  You picked a perfect setting to test it, too... or show it off?  lol   &apls

I've read the tutorial, but that's about it so far.  I'll take a look again soon.

That bridge looks great, but it seems like something is missing and I'm not sure what it is.  It looks kinda thin in the middle, maybe the truss underneath needs to be thicker, if that makes any sense.  Just my thoughts. ::)

Robin    &apls
Call me Robin, please.

Badsim

I agree with rooker , the first feeling is that something is missing ... but I'm pretty sure this feeling is due to the fact it's an old style bridge with a modern looking  : on an older bridge it would have more metalic crosses - trusses ? - ( sorry I don't know the exact technical word  ::) ) .
However as this kind of bridges have always technical gallery for inspection and maintenance under the roadway , maybe this roadway looks a bit too thin ....

...for perfectionists .  $%Grinno$%

Anyway , wonderful work !   &apls

JR I like that ... we need more full ARCHED bridges.

Caliban

It has a nice simple elegance

Interested to see how you plan for it to work in different spans

jeronij

Thanks to all for the feedback

I appreciate your comments. Maybe the bridge may look a bit thin in the middle in some situations, but the concrete can stand it wihout problems  ::)

I am trying to keep the bridge pieces number as low as possible, (3 so far), keeping in mind the different possible situations.

I am satisfied so far, except with the view at zoom 3 ( second pic in this post), but the visual issues are due to the way I designed the bridge ( not the model)

Wow, Jeroni, that is a really nice looking bridge!  Not only do I like the arch structure, but I really like the railing.  Looking forward to seeing where you go with this.
