jestarr: I'm not testing the CAM, but you were right.  I downloaded the CAM Essentials package and went back into the game, and sure enough the Underhill Casket Co. that grew was indeed the CAM one, with 600+ jobs.

BTW, the VW plant is coming together beautifully.  Keep up the great work!

Citynut, I was playing with the texture and actually got it too dark, although part of that is from reducing the jpg. &mmm  Don't retexture your prop, unless you want to, as I think it looks great as is.  If we vary the textures a little, from building to building, I think it may look better and more interesting.  What do you think?

@ky72x:  Unfortunately, something is still awry. &mmm  That version shouldn't grow at all, unless you have the CAM installed.  Seems I need to peruse the exemplers and see what I've gotten wrong. :D

No problem i was just wondering - I'll go ahead a keep it the same. I kinda like the color you have it. if you dont mind go ahead and post the new one at BSC and i'll grab it later and try it out anyway. Thanks for a quick responce. This project is lookin really good

Hmmm...the model file size is growing like a weed. :D  I've added a few more things and started on the smoke stack texture.  Next is replacing the gray box with real walls and roof and finishing the remaining windows and doors.  Then it's on to the roof junk.  For that, I'll probably save the roof sections as a seperate file so gmax won't have so much to view.  That should keep the lag down. ;D  Anyway, here's a progress pic (test render #45).  Cheers!

Looks great the smokestacks are incredibly well textured. I'm really diggin the textures and the model, excellent job :)

I know we try to keep the forums clean, but damn guys, I'm impressed and floored at the idea of having this beast dominating a city, a skyline, and even the region view.

Are there any other lots even approaching this size?

I look forward to more, as has become the norm!

Cheers,
Kevin

This will be the biggest that I know of.  Bixel has some lots that are rather large, but those are residentials I think.  When finished, this should be able to supply the industrial demand for most of a city (as it probably does in real life). ;D  OK, onward and upward, as they say.  The windows, doors, walls, etc. are pretty much finished.  There's still some tweaking to do and a few things to add, but it's essentially done.  I've started working on the roof junk now.  There'll be pipes, vents and various other shapes in evidence, but since the real building doesn't have much, I'll be making most of it up as I go.  ;)  Here's a test render pic (#54) of it's  current state.  I think this would equate to a zoom 4 pic in the game and it no longer fits in a 1024x768 snapshot. :D  Cheers!

Yeah, I know all about that first hand! :P  Gotta protect the computer.  Can't wait to see your next one. ;D  So, as I mentioned above, it's roof junk time.  I'm starting with the middle sections and working outward.  Here's a pic of what I have so far.  I still need to add textures and add a few odd bits here and there, but this will give you an idea of where it's going.

This project gets better every time I see it.  The size of that main building is just insane!

Citynut - I love the glass block type windows on that latest building.

Awesome work, guys! SC4 was sorely lacking a huge factory like this, and I'd use this even as a ploppable, although I don't like those in general.

A little bit more progress on this building - This time i used the same texture Jestarr used on the main building. and did all of the transformer work on the side of it - Ok I have almost finished the roof part

let me know what you think

I also redid the power plant with Jestarrs texture to make everything just a little more uniform.

Wow!  Looks fantastic Citynut and those transformers are perfect! ;D

I've made a little more progress also.  The roof junk is finished for three building sections; two more to go.  Then it's massaging the textures (again). :D

I thought I would see what the props look like in game. this test lot is probably MUCH smaller than the actual size will be when finished but here is a peek next to the canal. On a side note I love my new machine  ;D, it rendered the big piece in less that five mins. My old machine would have taken over 2 hours  :D

Jestarr: The building is looking awesome
