Two really nice islands! Nice terraforming!
And great work on your "old" region!
Looking forward to more... ;)

Battlecat

Sorry to hear about your loss of those two city tiles, but this is a very interesting looking region!  I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

canyonjumper: LOL! I suppose it must be someone trying to get my attention. Thanks for the support and comments. :)
976: Thanks! :)
bat: Really? I just did it in game, I figured it was okay. Although I'm not used to working with unlevel terrains so it will be a challenge. Though a fun one at that.
Battlecat: Thanks man, I appreciate the support and comment. :)

I've got a bit of a problem, this terrain I'm terraforming is very different from flat terrains that I usually build on, so I'm asking for help from all of you, where and how should I go about building a city on such terrain? I'd appreciate any feedback. More to come. :)

emgmod

From the looks of it, Mountainfall seems like a place that isn't populated a lot. Try making trails leading to a few places, and a bunch of forest.

Starland looks more buildable in my opinion. I would only build large buildings in flatter areas. Maxis mansions ruin the look of mountain towns, so I would recommend getting the Maxis mansion blocker on the STEX.

Thanks for the feedback emgmod! :)
Sorry for the delays in the next update, just trying a few different things.

Update: Since SC4M now works for me I'm going to change the region up a bit. I found a great region here on the LEX and I'm looking to develop it under the same name Avant Vista.

So, with that being said, here's a teaser. I haven't fully unpackaged the region yet so here's part of it. It's pretty large.

mightygoose

that region looks  nice if a bit flat for my liking, cant wait to see some more
NAM + CAM + RAM + SAM, that's how I roll....

BuildingUp

It is flatter than the one I created myself but it does have a lot of room to build on. The region is located here for better viewing since it's too big for me to take a picture of in game.

And here's a picture from me;

An update is coming soon. The first city in this region is named after that island I created myself, Starland.

More to come. :)

emgmod

That map? It's a good map from when I tried building a city there. I believe Arlington Bay uses the same map.

emgmod: Yeah, it's nice for me since I'm not used to building on very unstable terrains. :)

The updates are going to be slow for a few days since I'm still trying some stuff with this region. Here's a teaser.

Heh, the transportation network layout now is definitely a break from the layout I'm used to seeing.  :D

I thought I would try my hand at a newspaper. So I got out MSPaint (first mistake?) and made this..

canyonjumper

Interesting stuff here! Nice attempt at creating a newspaper :).

Quote...got out MSPaint...(first mistake?)

Maybe you should get GIMP :D.

Very nice start on your region there!   That's a nice looking little town already.  Good first attempt at a newspaper, specially considering the limitations of ms paint.

If you're going to do graphics work, gimp is a great option, particularly since it's free.  Just search gimp on Google, it should be the first result.  Also, for newspapers, if you have it Microsoft Publisher is a pretty effective since it's a lot more flexible at handling graphics that Word.  I've never checked to see if there's a free equivalent program to Publisher in Open Office.  Anyhow, I hope this helps!  I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got coming up next!

canyonjumper: Thanks! :) I have GIMP, which I use to create the effects for the pictures. I never thought about using it for newspapers, but that's a good idea.
Battlecat: Thank you! I am seriously starting to consider purchasing Office 2007 again since my trial expired.

Update time. All of the following pictures are from Starland.

More to come!

canyonjumper

Looks good! And for the free Publisher alternative try Scribus.
