Hey everybody!
I saw that type of thread on ST and thought it would be a great idea to start one here! Here, you will be able to show us the place that you are the most proud of because its scenery...because it's looks beautiful! :) You can post very natural pics high in the mountains, or maybe a giant park in the center of your city! So...one last word, SHOW IT TO US! ;D
I will start this thread with some pics of mine ;)
A little village I did a year ago :P

Jackie, that lighthouse is so unbelievably realistic (<---unbelievably realistic? Does that make sense #?¿?¿?$)! I think I could trick a lot of my friends into thinking that it was real! Great work!
Szarkoz, awesome cape! I love that hill with the trees on it, and for some reason that radio tower seems to fit very well in that natural area. Nice!

Great places, jacqulina!
Those natural stuff rocks! &apls
beautiful pics ;D nicely done.
great pictures jacquilina. i really like the water mod you're using.
Those are some fantastic pics, jacqulina
And at Gradonacelnik - The walls are great! Very unique.
Gradonacelnik: Oh, wow! Interesting concept...I've never seen anything quite like it. Love how it's all even and perfectly formed. And I agree with bat: those canals really look good! I have to ask how long it took you to make that area? It seems like it would take a lot of patience and precision to get the walls so perfect and everything...nice work!
jacqulina: I'm so jealous! I don't think I could make anything like that with the SC4 Terraformer...it looks so real! Like some hidden part of the world. Somewhere I'd very much like to find! Unbelievable...or actually, very believable!
Masochist Thanks, This was my first foray into custom content with the early PEG walls. I can't remember but this was even before the NAM. Terraforming went fast with PEG's leveling tools. everything else is completely flat. Now with the region editor it would be even faster.
thundercrack83 Thanks again, I was, and still am, lousy with loting and bating so I make weird mashups with what others create. I hope to start a more massive fortress style region with all the cool tools we have now.
this city died on my earlier PC that won't come back to life. The protable USB drive is a godsend for SimCity.
excellent work everyone,
thankyou so much for the wonderfull comments i have hand terraformed all my work, and i am using pegs 205 brigantine water mod

soulstealer The linky is here: Mr Snoopys New Toll Stations (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=4003) on ST
Two images, both random; both are two of my favorite scenic areas.

Above - Lover's Lane. Recreated from an area near Starved Rock State Park (IL).
Below - The Village of Luthein.

Excellent shot with the wildflowers (I've seen them around but I don't think I have found them anywhere yet). The second pic too is a great shot of a crossraods town, and the peg 'ponds' look great/natural running underneath the bridges. I would like to see more if you have it.
Not sure if this is the best place to post it, but here goes...
The Capitol District of Victoria, Carinthia

Just pretend that the open space on the bottom left isn't there. Kind of "unfinished business" in that area still.
@ all Fantastic scenic area!
These are from a campground next to a creek running down a canyon. down the creek a ways is a waterfall leading to the sea (there have been no photos of the waterfall yet).

There is a fair amount of wild life around the area and grizzly bears are known to fish in the stream when the season is right:

wow, awesome pics. i love the water textures.
If you are interested, you can find them by searching 'jeronij' on the BSCLex. It's his plopable (aka ploppable) water, and you can see some fine examples of its use in some of the MDs here specifically dedgren's 3 rivers region (and some of the CJs at ST).
This is one of the most scenic pics in my CJ (soon to be MD?)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg252.imageshack.us%2Fimg252%2F9850%2Fapilianimar1600116971049hx.png&hash=d3760d40f3082a1d6f8be110221430e27dca080d)

That is a beautiful "circle",
football_fever
my 850th post!!!!
The first shot is very distinctive in terms of the contrast bwteen the buildings and the surrounding landscape (it looks like a stiff breeze could cause people on the top floors of those towers to get motion sick, but they still look good), and I like the colorful use of water flora. There is a certain grandeur in the second pic, but I am curious as to what the ground texture is (why is it white?). Good luck if/when you start the MD.
That's snow on the ground. Some of the cities are topical, some are frozen, there's desert...it's fun
&apls this is lovely! &apls

Wow, looks great Natuurzoon. The golf course on the left makes it really look like Hawaii.
This is my first pic here, and it really isn't much. I was just experimenting with ploppable water, flora and rocks, and wound up with this.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi84.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fk25%2Fbwatterud%2Fpond.jpg&hash=661db5189b78cffc125513bf8b2d2166f87b6507)
I kind of like how it turned out.
QuoteWow, looks great Natuurzoon. The golf course on the left makes it really look like Hawaii.
I thought the same thing. Great job,
Natuurzoon!bwatterud: Your experiment looks pretty good so far. I love all the lilypads that you've added to the ploppable water. I can't wait to see how you use it within the game!
Natuurzoon: The colors flow so well together, and what a place to have a golf course... I would just hate to slice a ball over the trees (and hit some unfortunate person on the beach). I'm curious to know how you made the beach transition like that. It all looks hand plopped. You did a great job with the pier/wharf and the flora underwater looks stunning. For your first post here, you have certainly hit the ground running. I'll be looking forward to more.
bwatterud: Not too bad for an experiment. A couple of things I have noticed in my experience:
-a good variety of rocks and flora (types and densities) improve the look of the edge of the water.
-try to vary how far the flora grows away from the shore. It makes the flora look more natural instead of just a line hiding the edges of the water.
Aside from those two points, it looks like a very tranquil spot. I look forward to more.
bwatterud and thundercrack83, your both right then, almost, the region is based on hawaii and some other area's
threestooges: what do you mean with the beach transitions, ho it changes in the golfourse and that path?? well, i just use a lot of trees and plants to hide the edges of the lots. and indeed, everything on that pic is hand plopped.
awesome work everyone,very scenic pics &apls &apls

Really nice guys, well, except (no offense to either Gilligone or Jeronij please!), I really don't like Jeronij's sea walls in that situation Gilligone, they are great but I think too industrial for that beautiful park. Have you thought about using the new ones that are on the LEX (Cal did some, which are super, but I think Colyn's (?) new ones are Fab! and would fit the scenery much better.) See these: Malta (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=611)
I think Fred_Ginger has a point regarding the seawalls. However, this large park is amazing ! Great job Giligone !
Not too bad, though, jeronij's seawalls really aren't the best for a commercial area. Actually, that's a good idea. I think we should bug jeronij to BAT some more seawalls once he finishes that dam. :P

Really spectacular pictures guys! Jacky, the castle was really lovely. And TeaCat! You really have a way with the ploppable water! Guurgkud, 'Coral Gables' looks so tranquil, save me a spot on the beach!
Everything is looking so great (case in point: coral gables... that looks like a great place to vacation/live).
I have been working on a scenic railroad myself. It winds up past a lumber mill into the mountains, crossing a stream on the way up:

Comments (and especially suggestions) are welcome.
@ threestooges:
Very nice RR. I love the use of ploppable water. And of course the "land" bridges are very well done.
@ guurgkud:
Nicely semi-tropical look. Somewhat like the south of France, or perhaps the Cinqueterra on the coast of Italy.
Here are a few pics of a work in progress:
1. This lake I am calling Lake Ocoee, after the lake and camp I worked at during college. The island is slighty similar to one on the real Lake Ocoee.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg103.imageshack.us%2Fimg103%2F4666%2Fislandpinewoodflatsaug3rk5.png&hash=b510601d0140ffc80d4e9b2b98e32dda499f2319)
2. Here is the overflow for the reservoir. It is the body of water with the lighter color due to being less deep.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg403.imageshack.us%2Fimg403%2F4933%2Fresstartpinewoodflatsaujg7.png&hash=663657240e8aefeda91eef3a690a9b9b8788d681)
3. Another view of the lake. And the small river that connects it to Lake Buice (Still under construction)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg481.imageshack.us%2Fimg481%2F4475%2Flakepinewoodflatsaug302jf1.png&hash=0cfc4a9645171ed7a2a4b70af8f23052254eeb22)
4. Finally where the RHW and main rail line cross the narrows between Lake Ocoee and Parkersville Lake.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg453.imageshack.us%2Fimg453%2F538%2Fhwybrdgpinewoodflatsauget0.png&hash=df5c1ec834c4c8b33e8a3581f8b15fe4b2e43886)

Very nice high wealth area you made there guurgkud
Threestooges looking great. You work well within the confines of SC4 to deliver realistic scenes. I finally rode the Cass rail in WVA last summer and took some shots with the D70. If you would like some reference, please PM, I will gladly send, but really at this point, you have captured the feeling of a scenic rail.
-shoreman: wow. Thanks. That certainly means a lot. I have been a bit of a train nut myself (and it wasn't too long ago my parents were taking me on scenic train trips...Durango & Silverton (http://www.durangotrain.com/), "Skunk Train (http://www.skunktrain.com/)", and the Virginia & Truckee Railroad (http://www.steamtrain.org/) in Reno, NV) so it's something I've wanted to work on. The opportunity came when I had a slope mod and and a steep hill meet each other. I really don't have much in the way of mods (or photo editing skill) so, for now, working around the game is what works best for me. Thank you again.
The eastern senic is of course much different than the western you experianced, but the rail principles are the same, we had narrow guage to get up those mountains (I would guess these would be hills by western standards) and SC4 has only heavy USRA rail so you have to fudge a bit, but don"t you have to fudge in SC4 anyway. Regardless of limitations, you can ligimitally( why do I try to spell these words at 3:48 EST even if I do REALLY have a word spell) accurately portray a scenic ralil system and you have and will I am sure. Keep creating and if you need reference shots, call on me, Shoreman, remember folks 400 years ago, America started here in Virginia,
Here's one,

EDGE4194: Thanks for your compliment! :) I use some beach sets (don't remember wchich elements are from wchich set on this picture - it was some time ago):
FM Beaches for Irregular Coasts (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=2045)
Beach Set by homer2 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=11541) (including baywatch, sand with palms etc.)
There is also a Beach Volleyball Court (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=1609)
on the second picture.
As I remember, all of them are compatible with various beach modds.

Soon to be a challenger on the pic competition ( hopefully )
That's beautiful.
I like warm colors of this picture. You changed the color of boulders (wchich is not quite interesting in original version) to something very nice.
Very interesting effect on the water surface. Not quite realistic, but beautiful. (I think realism was not a goal here - it's a kind of magical realism :))
The frame adds a lot. It shows great sense of taste.
Thank you for showing this!
So, Wou, when will we see a new CJ from you? ;D
You might wanna avoid the repeating effect in your ploppable water. Otherwise, it looks excellent.

I have to agree with amapper - the vegetation looks good and fits in really well with Pegs river and stream pieces.
The fence around the field is different (and works with the river and nearby trees) - a bit of LEing I assume.
So, I think I will take a stab at this scenic area thing:

1. Try to level the terrain when you drag a road, you can do it using just the road putting road/street piece one next to another
2. Don't put a BAT at the edge of the very steep slope, leave at least one tile away, you will be able to hide the BAT's edge (for example putting trees along it)
3. Be more courageous with trees - use more kinds of them (but not too much!). Put one kind of trees first, leaving spaces, than put another one and so on. Don't make isolated areas, each of them covered by only one kind of trees (sorry for bad English, I hope it is clear)
And don't worry about the grid, you will turn it off next time
Will do, thanks! :)
Very nice. Ennedi has given some great advise, so I'll spare you any more lectures ;D, but the scenes you've set up there are very good. Keep it up.

Apparantly the light from the lighthouse is to warn for danger not something to stear at, as these poor sailors experienced
Nice photo, Norn. You've done a good job of placing the rocks on shore and around the lighthouse. I like the overall lighting effect in the photo, too, so now I want to see what's on the other side of the bridge!

Toichus Maximus lovely but for some reason reminds me of the film 'The Decent'
That's a great pic Toichus! Where did you get that house? Is it a lot or a plop?
I made the lot but I'm trying to figure out what prop pack it is in. the id is 0x6edb3516 jaw_hamptonarms_lodge, but I couldn't find anyone called "jaw" as an uploader, so it is probably in a megapack. Does anybody know who it might be from?
JaWood used the initials "jaw" in his files when he made them. They should be in a MEGA pack somewhere on the LEX.

Is the dam shown in the image from dsrwhat316 available for download? If so, where. If not, would dsrwhat316 or the creator consider uploading this dam. I certainly would like to use it in some of my cities. The image is impressive.

You call that a "test"? :o And how did you manage to post this at exactly 12:00:00 PM?
Those medieval ruins and the dead tree add a special atmosphere, together with the lighting. Even the flora emits some kind of lifelessness, so the only living thing seems to be the flock of sheeps.

Very nice scenic areas everyone.
@Marsh, I am truly jealous of your skills with the MMPs. Everything you share with us is picture-perfect!
@kodlovag, those look like some nice quiet island. A nice destination on those weekend sailing trips.
@Bill Chen, very nice scenes! I really like that stream, the water effects great and I think the stone bridge completes the look. The pasture is amazing, I wish I had the patience to make my rural areas that nice.
@ecoba, nice looking river. The grassy banks and wildflowers really reminds me of a creek that runs through the town where I grew up in.
@IAM, looks like a lively city at night.
@io_bg, I love that bridge! Is there a river below, or does it just span a deep valley? I also really like the effects you gave to the Empire State Building, looks like something from a postcard.
@barto128, great use of MMP, looks like a nice coastal place. I suggest you take the grid off before you take a picture though, it'll make it look so much better.
@MuzikStar, for a first time creating a scenic area I'd say you did a really good job! Looks like a great place to relax and enjoy some pina coladas!

That's quite pretty Mitsos. Without the last picture, it was also confusing to my sense of scale. For some reason it looked much bigger.
I like the river banks, too.

thank you Swordmaster
Spectacular, MITSOS. I love the scale. And the "self made" part of the park in particular.
thanks a lot RBC

The pond was artificially constructed in the late '80s to allow the heavy metals from the rainwater running off the bridge to settle before reaching the sea, and thus to protect the rich marine life. The area around the pond has become quite popular in recent years, despite the motorway in close proximity.
Nice pictures everyone! &apls
Themistokles, to embed images you first need an external site to host them, like imgur (https://imgur.com/) or dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/).
This is my first PIC from SC4. You may notice the Maxis lighthouse being used, RHW split road, Paeng's park, tropical flora and a sunken ship. This particular scene took some time to build and then a hurricane hit the city of Fort George. Then I had to rebuild the road which would not align itself like it was before the hurricane. Talk about damage control! Please let me know what you think.
I like the way you have detailed the shoreline,
BTS_SC4, it really blends well between land and sea! I was just wondering about the purpose of building an RHW out to it, but there certainly is a sensible explanation. Good use of the maxis light-house, it is one of maxis' good lots.
