That looks very intriguing....like the odd roof lines..used to be into model railroading and had more fun building my towns than running trains...go figure.will follow this one closely...

now to go and download an Ice Cpy......although why I'm not sure.....never got above 40f here today...brrrrr.
Sometimes I go into my own little world....but it's ok, they know me there.

Bluebeard

You can get some sweet ideas from Model Railroad buildings.I really miss my train set. :)

jestarr

Hmmm...it's been a while since my last post.  I'm, currently, rendering all my rail and intermodal stuff as diagonals (both 22.5 and 45 degree), plus making some more, so there'll be a new prop pack soon. ;D  I, also, saw a pic of a container lift in one of the threads here.  I liked the idea, so I started one.  It's "loosely" based on an MI-Jack translift.  Still a bit to add, plus the textures, so it'll be a bit.  Anyway, here's a progress pic.  Cheers!

SC4BOY

Good idea to turn 'em! :)

And I love those industrial geegaws.. crank em out.. interesting wooden building too..

oldrogue

Neat "geegaw" and mmmmm diagonals.....oh yeah....

Have a wonder and Merry Christmas.

New prop pack....Yay  %BUd%

Man do I love your prop packs ;D

Container lift looks great also, much better than my piece of garbage :P Can't wait for your new pack even more now that I know about this

jestarr

Thanks all.  I'm glad you like them. ;D  Here's a couple in-game display/test lots showing the props I've finished.  I've lots more, I just need to find the gmax files on my innumerable backup disks. ::)  Also, the container crane is finished.  I basically copied the model and made it the LODS, so it was a little complicated, but it seems to have worked out.  As you can see, it's completely see through and you can place different prop containers on the clips, for a little bit more variety.  Cheers and I hope everyone has a safe and pleasurable holiday.

Yoman

That really looks incredible, great job  ;D

Thanks folks, I appreciate it.  OK, I've uploaded this pack to testing, to make sure I didn't foul something up, but being as it's a prop pack I don't expect any problems.  Here's a pic of the demo lot, showing a selection of the 115 props included in the dat.  This pack comprises about 50% of the props I never finished/uploaded, so there'll be another soon to finish them off. ;D  Cheers and I hope Santa was good to you. :P

Pat

Hey Jestarr yes santa was good to me and now I see the green house im excited woohooo... Im sorry that i pulled that question out awhile back that got the greenhouse going but im glad and i love the results on it, I just hope that it wasnt a trouble doing it... Anyways Jestarr Merry Christmas!!!

Be careful doing this too much.  There comes a point when the finished 3d model becomes so complex that SC4 gives up trying and skips displaying it.  Even if it takes time to make, a simplified LOD is always better and faster than copying the original geometry.

Of course, your container crane seems like a relatively simple object, and apparently SC4 has no problems displaying it.  It probably doesn't slow down the game very much, either.

Jasoncw

Yikes!!  Yeah, I have to reinforce what Ardecila said, that's not good for the game.

Diggis

It's quite possible that Jess is awar of what he is doing  :P

callagrafx

Yikes!  Yeah, I'd say you're right Diggis  :D :D :D :D
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it

paroch

I love the straddle crane.  I posted a pic of one in Rooker's Mind Scape MD when he was discussing different types of port - I wonder if this is where you saw it on here.  I've seen the things in action, so once released I'll download them for any future container ports.

I have loads of your industrial BATs and they're all great - also use your fences in custom LOTs.

jestarr

@paroch:  Thanks!  I'm glad you find them useful.  As for the crane, I knew I saw it in one of the MDs, but I couldn't remember which one. ::)  There's now three in the pack.  One empty and two loaded.

OK, folks, vol06 of my mega props has been posted to the LEX.  It contains 140 props total.  The readme contains a list of all the props, so you'll have some idea what's included.  The included pic doesn't show them all, just a sample, since putting them all on a lot would have been too large.  Cheers!

Here's a little tidbit for your perusal; Belkins Bobbin Factory.  This is a very simple building, inspired by one in Finland, that I made to fit a specific spot in one of my cities.  I wasn't going to release this, since I made it for myself, but what the heck, why not. :D  This will come as an IM$$2 regular growable, an IM$$6 CAMified growable and as a plop.  The lots are currently in testing.  Cheers and happy new year!
