Well I'm not sure this belongs in THIS thread.. feel free to move it if this is wrong.. I have a copy of CSX Reward lot Freemont Pie Company.. .works ok and the reward is given as expected.. problem is when I click it, it does not give a query box.. Seems I'm having a lot of this type thing.. anyone got a hint for me?

I have the docs for it and all the dependencies are installed that are specified.

Another set of docs specify that "GC_Essentials" are required and installed with the package. I do have that file in my plugins root folder. Any other ideas? (this was from the original "GC Porkies Pie Factory BSC" which I assume was the lot before CSX reworked it as a reward, but I don't know this). As far as I know I have never been instructed to remove the GC one, however this GC file is not specified as a dependency for the Freemont file.

edit: Ok I went back and started without the GC_essentials file.. the query still did not work. Does anyone know if this GC file has been integrated into another essentials file, or is it still required in some lots? I did find that the GC_essentials came with the Porkies Pies lot and was used for that. I still  have that lot in my plugins (it is not a "reward lot" and uses completely different building, etc)

I suppose it is possible that the GC_essentials MAY be the problem if the query was reworked by CSX?? It could be that I need some CSX essential that is being overwriten by the GC one? The GC would be read after a CSX one (I don't have a CSX one, but it may be in the BSC_essentials.. which also could possibly have parts overwritten by the GC one)
.

It seems the GC (GasCooker, I believe) essentials is now included with the BSC Essentials. http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=443

Remember to check older files against the latest Cleanitols available, as a lot of times you can install files that are outdated. The most recent Master List of Cleanitols can be found here:
http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1329

I generally run the Master Lists after every 25 or so downloads, because like you, I am still trying to catch up on a lot of great works for my game.
Hope this helps...

The query for Freemont Pie SHOULD bein BSC Essentials but on checking I see that somehow it has been missed. I will liaise with geoffhaw who compiled the filw and get the Essentials file updated but until then you should reinstall CSX Essentials from the LEX. This will mean there will be some small duplicate files but not sufficient to affect play.
Sorry about that.

xxdita.. keeping up with cleanitols is how I lost the query.. ;)  One must be judicious in all things.. hehe

Thanks kindly Barby..  figured you'd have the "straight poop" if anyone did &apls

Edit: Barby.. I found a rather interesting piece of information while working through this problem. There are at least two versions of csx_essentials01.dat (I don't have a version simply named csx_essentials.dat). One of the 01 files is dated 4/23/05 and is approx 87Kb in size. This version DOES NOT HAVE the query in it. The other version I have is dated 2/12/05 and is approx 71Kb in size. This smaller file has the query.. I do not know any other differences between the files, but certainly they are not the same.. (this also may explain how it got left out of the BSC file.. it may depend on which file was used as the "master") The large file almost certainly has OTHER differences too..that would need to be investigated to see what else it needed/not needed. If you have one version but not the other, feel free to ask and I'll send you whatever you may need if I can.

You didn't say, but should I remove the GC_essentials file? Is it covered in one of the mega's?

Thx again

BarbyW

Thanks for the info on the files, SC4BOY. I'll pass that on to gh and we shall see what happened.
You can safely remove the GC_Essentials as they are now virtually the standard BSC queries as they are the Maxis ones with the BSC globe only.

Just to let you know that the BSC Essentials file has been updated with the missing query.

Ok, now I feel better as I have also been hanging on to the GC_Essentials file. But there is a lot of stuff here that has to be 100% right so I apllaud you on your constant efforts. &apls. After all its just a game....Not! Thank you

Thanks Barby for taking the time to let us know.. I do have a question. Is it possible when a file is updated that the "you have downloaded this file X times" be reset. Otherwise I can't trust the "downloaded" note.. If I don't write down somewhere WHEN I downloaded the file and re-download it even though it says I have it, I still don't know if I've been updated or not. And if I have to keep track myself, then the note is really not of any value..  In other words the "you have downloaded" note is actually MISINFORMATION.. thanks again.

@SC4BOY: If you click on the Download History link in the left pane, any files that have been updated since you last downloaded them will be at the top of the list in red.  That's one of the many wonderful things about the LEX - it does the work for you!

Excellent information.. was not aware of that feature.. I'll try to see if that serves the need.. thx

edit: Hmm.. why does it show "red X's" even though I have downloaded the file after the revision date?
Do all updates have to be manually reset?
