Hi, Jon.

Quote from: JBSimio on March 01, 2008, 10:38:23 AMWell, I made what I hope are the final tweaks.  I got rid of the skylight... toned down a few other lights in the back including the loading area... added a little more life to the shop floors... and added some exterior lights around the base.  I think this should wrap things up for good this time.  Here are some updated shots, just because I'd hate to leave the former ones as the final look!  ::)

I can't speak for anyone else, however; looking at the pictures you've posted of your latest building left me asking why I couldn't just jump in my monitor and walk in the door of this exquisitly designed and executed building.

Jon, I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Your BATting skill is incredible!  When you create a model, it isn't just a nicely done "thing".  It is a work of art -- a materpiece.

I know that I am certainly going to enjoy putting this great new building into my cities.  Thanks for sharing this wonderful talent of yours.

Regards,

Gary

Hello, I have a random question...well maybe two. After you finish a project, where does it go next? like what stage is in between you completing the project and it going on the BSC exchange? Secondly, awhile back I remember you were working on a furniture store or something along those lines that was suppose to work with diagonal corners...what ever happened to that? - hope my questions aren't so "odd-ball" hehe, thanks!

thundercrack83

Well, that just looks magnificent, my friend! Absolutely magnificent! I simply cannot wait to see what you're going to do next!

Looks just fine with out the skylight .. maybe you can find another project to use it on :)

Pat:  Thanks!  Yes... the lotting and modding for these are usually pretty quick for me.  In fact, I finished both this morning! ;)

Gary:  Thank you so much!  I wish I could have seen more of the interiors for this building... I can only imagine the details in the front lobby.  I wouldn't mind trying to step in there myself if the building still existed.

Baconrocky:  I love random questions!  :D  Part of where it goes next depends on what it is.  In most cases (like this one), I'm able to handle the modding and everything myself.  Then it gets sent out for testing... done by many of the same people who act as scrutineers for the LEX candadacies.  They double check to make sure I didn't miss anything and that it all works as it should in the game.  For bigger projects, like the university set, there are a lot of other people involved to help with the things I don't know how to do... reward chains, translations, and the more complex stuff.  I believe you're talking about the Fiege Building.  I actually pulled that one out a couple times in the last few weeks.  I really just need to get the measurements right so it fits cleanly into the diagonal corner and then it will be finished.  It hasn't been forgotten, but I made the mistake of putting the alley entrance on the angled side of the building which is making things more painful than they should be.  :D

Dustin:  Thank you!

RebaLynn:  Thanks!  I'm sure the skylight will find its way onto something eventually.  A lot of my failed ideas seem to do that sooner or later... ;)

I exported the Buder Building last night... and woke up this morning just in time to see it finishing up.  I should really learn how to sleep in one of these days!  :D  I finished the lotting and modding of it this morning and it is now off for testing.  Here are some in game shots:

This is a 3x3 corner lot with three versions.  CO$$ grow and plop... and also a R$$ grow.  Both of the growable versions are stage seven and the plop version has CO$$ jobs and everything else like the growable does.  I think that's all for now, but there should be more later... ;)

It looks great. It looks good enough not to just be a corner lot, IMHO. Pure corners have so much competition!

While we are on past projects, whats the progress on your apartments?

Have not heard of it for awhile.

Pat

Jon that would be a good thing to sleep in once in awhile!!!  I cant wait to get ahold of the buder buildings

Yes, the apartments will be necessary for off-campus housing for the students enrolled at your university :P.

Seriously Jon, I don't know how you are able to pull off such wonderful creations so quickly!! I'm sure that you already have a million things to do in RL, especially with your impending move to the other side of the country. How do you do it?
Go Sens!!

JBSimio

Mauricio:  Thanks!  You're wait is half over...  ;)

Fledgeling:  Thank you!  I can easily change the lot setting if testing shows that it is too hard to grow.  The apartments got stalled out by foundations.  I think I now have a grasp on how to do that myself though, so I may be able to breathe new life back into those but it probably won't happen until after I move.  Because of the way I plan to release all the various RUSA apartments, that one still counts as a large project instead of just individual buildings... so they're on the back burner for a little longer, I'm afraid.

Pat:  Oh I slept last night... just not so much this morning!  :D

Simdad:  I'm sure the apartments will get a lot of use that way, so I really do need to get them finished.  My secret right now is a boss that fails to provide me with any information which would help me make the upcoming move happen.  Since I don't have the information, there is little I can do other than sit here and be mad at him all day.  As BATting is a great relaxer for me... the circle works to everyone's advantage (except perhaps mine in about four more weeks!)  :D

OK... I have the next building picked out.  Thanks go to TopCliff for the original point in that direction and also again to Hogmeister who sent me some wonderful pictures today.  For some reason, I have a lot of trouble finding good reference pictures.  I don't know if I just look in the wrong places or what my problem is... (Don't tell me to go to Emporis... I know about them.  Their pictures help a little but honestly not much... I can't actually download them or just flip through them either which makes it very tedious to switch viewpoints)  But anyway... I'm not real sure why I'm spending so much time talking about this new building when I don't have anything to show you yet.  Hell... I haven't even started  it yet!!!  ::)

However... you may be interested to know that the monkeys have finally gotten around to finishing something again!

Enjoy!

Downloaded/installed

I used the night windows settings you mentioned on one of my houses, and it really helped make it stand out (even though there are shades behind the glass, still gave a nice effect). Middle house here if you are interested in seeing.

The Hurst Building is great, I already have it downloaded and installed and will check it out in-game later this week.

And it's funny that Fledgeling asked about the status of the apartments, because today me and my mom went to downtown Austin to look at condos for me to move into, and we looked at condo complexes in the area, and one of the complexes (which used to be apartments) looks just like the ones you made Jon. :D I wonder if it's a sign... (Which I hope so, because I really liked them)

After a long absence, I'm back! And I will be starting a new MD soon.

JBSimio

XiahouDun:  I'm glad that helped somewhat then!

John:  Thank you!  Now I'm a bit curious which ones they resembled...  :D

I got a small start on a new one tonight, but it was a very small start.  Nothing really worth showing at this point, to be honest.  But I thought that before I went to bed, I might as well keep things moving along.  So... I'll just throw something else in the mix!

Have a good night!
