Brilliant update. Looks like Ocean Co., NJ.  Smart notes about the numbers of the streets, looks like you've thought throught this with more than just a good view for a picture.

TopCliff

I just read through this whole thing, and I'm truly amazed. I especially love the use of those old style buildings and the streets that go with them. You've turned a simple picture into a big meal of eyecandy, with the beautiful beaches the appetizer, the lovely old style homes the main course, and it all being topped off with those brick streets representing the bottle of wine you know you can't afford. Love your work, keep it up.
Best movie of all time: Ferris Bueller's Day Off. If you disagree, Cameron will send your car over a cliff.

Please, call me Leo.  I quote John Lennon now, a great musician and philosopher. Particularly, one of his songs: You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one. I hope someday you join us, and the world will live as one.

Travis

The next update wasn't coming along as quickly as I hoped- but I have a teaser to present. ;)

Replies...

@mightygoose, thanks! :) Oh, and I think you're looking for these. ;)

Flame, thank you! I would, but those street textures are slightly narrower than the regular streets, so it would look really weird. :P

Dustin, thanks Dustin. :) Yeah, that small-town feel is great, isn't it?

bat, thanks bat!

Pat, yup, Mid-Atlantic is back alright.  ;D

sebes, Ah, I love Northwest's livery, both of them. (new and old). Actually, Northwest sold their remaining DC-10's last year.  :P

Sean, thank you! Very close- I was born and grew up in Monmouth County, their neighbor to the north, and I based this city of of ones I was
familar with, (think Asbury Park). And yeah, I thought this through a lot, I even have a backstory put together. Watch for more info on this.  ;)

Leo, thanks, and welcome to my MD! :) Whoa, you're good with metaphors. :P Come again soon!

....

Ok folks, we'll be taking a different approach to the updates for the the rest of Flag River. They'll be sort of "visitor's guide" style, which kinda lives up to the MD's name. (Take a Tour?) Give me a break, I was strapped for names at the time. ::) Which brings me to another point, this MD's
1-year anniversary is coming up (March 3rd), and that means I better get to work on figuring out something awesome to do...  :P

Anyway...

Standing at the corner of Richardson Blvd (US-437) and Centennial Drive is the Phillipsburg County Bus Depot.
The Flag River branch of the Phillipsburg County Department of Transportation also has its office here.
Was purchased by the D.O.T. in 1991, and converted from a shipping & distribution facility into the current format.

Bonus pics!

Later.

Travis

Thanks bat. :)

Anyway, still working away on the next update. In the meantime, I thought I would show a couple pics...

This one's a teaser for the next update. This (as you probably know by now) is the east span of the US-37 Bridge:

And this one is, well, I can't really tell you what it is yet. ;) I wouldn't look for more on it in the near future, though.

Later.

Whoa, looks like I missed an update in there. Sorry about that, my friend!

I don't know if I'd mentioned this before or not, but I do love the Great State of New Jersey! You're doing a tremendous job here, too. I love the bus terminal and the Parkway is absolutely splendid!

Take care, my friend, and I'll be looking forward to the next update!

Dustin

a lot of very great pictures from your region travis.
i like most the style from your suburban areas and the bridge from the last update is outstanding work.
the base texture from the busdepot could be better in my opinion there is some repitition.

thanks for sharing those great puctures with us

Hi Travis, I've lurked here a while, so thought it was time to speak up!

Great Bus Depot - is that a custom lot you've created?  And the bridge with the traffic looks pretty cool too.

All the best

Paul

Attention everyone!  "$Deal"$

If you don't know, Monday is this MD's 1st Anniversary, and as you might expect, I'm working on something huge!
I won't say anything about 'till then, except, for you on dial-up, to be patient with the loading times. $%#Ninj2

@Dustin, it's alright, it happens sometimes. :)
Quotebut I do love the Great State of New Jersey!
Then it looks like you're in for a treat this summer. ;) Whoops, I said too much already...

@bat, thanks as always!

@warconstruct, thank you too!

@Pat, thanks Pat. :) I don't think it will, (too many dependencies) but I'll be releasing other stuff shortly. ;)

@Paul (squidi), thanks! Ah, yes, suburban areas are my favorites. :)
Quotethe base texture from the busdepot could be better in my opinion there is some repitition.
I see what you mean, but just a little repetition is realistic sometimes. ;)

@Paul (paroch), indeed, thanks for coming out of the shadows. :)
QuoteGreat Bus Depot - is that a custom lot you've created?
Indeed it is. ()stsfd() Come again soon!

^What are the odds, two Paul's commenting on the same update back-to-back? $%Grinno$%

It seems I missed a lot - sorry my friend, but RL is not easy, and too much SC4 activities in the same time are hard to manage too  $%Grinno$%

But I see many interesting new things here - very nice beach, the bus depot and especially it's surrounding looks excellent!
And your teaser is really interesting  I'm very curious what will happen next  :)

You know what I like here? You seem to take care about your roads, highways etc the same way as I do for my railways ...  ;)  :D

Take care (and don't forget to make backups!)

...Took me all day yesterday...

Replies will come soon- In the meantime, let's celebrate one year of MD'ing. :)

Happy 1st Anniversary everyone!

Starting where we left off, at the mid-sized city of Flag River.

A view of the railyard, which, if you've been observant, has been visible in the region view for a long time.

...

Visible at the top is Flag River Central Station.

...

Follow that train...

We're working into the more suburban part of the city now, which is known as Donner Park.

A close-up of Donner Park Elementary.

...

...

...

...

...

An overview.

This is the Port of Flag River- the only shipping port in the Radston Metro.

...

This is the Richardson Blvd. Power Station, which is the primary source of power for Phillipsburg County residents east of the river.

A close-up.

...

This is the Clark Street Pumping station, primarily serving residents of the Donner Park district.

...

...

...

...

...

The Chicago Ave. Canal empties here into the river.

...

...

A look at the channel. At the bottom is David's Island.

Another angle. At the bottom here is Flag River Municipal Stadium.

Here, once again, is the Ocean Avenue/US-37 Bridge, which is the only crossing for some miles upstream. Thus, traffic is a constant issue.

A view of the central district, represented by the few hi-rise hotels built in the 70's.

The beach, with a jetty in view.

There are also a couple much-older Art Deco hotels as well.

...

A hotel in the foreground, some condos in the back.

...

Power lines by the railroad tracks.

...

...

...

Night shots.

...

...

...

...

An overview.

And a mosaic. That about wraps it up for Flag River. My second city in the region completed. ()stsfd()

Let's head back downtown, shall we?

Time for some random eyecandy. :)

An airport.

And now for a sharp contrast, we're movin' out into the country!

The updated region view.

And last but not least, an advertisement for something I'm working on... ;D

I'd like to thank each and every one of you who have commented in this MD since its beginning. Without you guys, all this wouldn't be possible.
Thanks again. :)

Now, let's hear what you have to say 'bout this update.
