well it may be a little bright....but I love the basic color scheme.....
Sometimes I go into my own little world....but it's ok, they know me there.

RebaLynnTS

You shouldn't have to darken it a lot, and I would not make the bricks to much smaller, or (as you probably know) they will just blur into i single color. Finding the right size for bricks has been a real chanllenge for me, I ended up going with about 2.5 times the actual (relitive to the model). I want to thank you for the info on how to make those fancy details, that info will help me to make some pretty nice Wrought Iron Fences.

I think it looks smashing!
And I think it is of right brightness. It is a bit tricky to judge against black background, it makes everything appear much brighter then it would in game.
Can you save this render as a PNG with alpha and superimpose it over typical cityview?

Couchpotato

I really like this with the lighter brick.  Nice change from the red.   And the detail on the lower windows is great.

soulstealer

I like the bright color it gives good contrast to the dark green windows and matches the roof perfectly.  Brick size is good too, 3 bricks per window. kinnda reminds me of a building I once saw in Jerusalem.

Mauricio:  Thank you!  I actually retract my initial reaction on the brightness level... but I still plan to change the "block size."

Duane:  Thanks!

RebaLynn:  I still want the blocks to be oversized, but not by as much as they are now... maybe 75-80% is what I'm thinking.  I'm glad the detail tips will help.  I find myself using various sided lines and such more and more for things now.

SimFox:  Thank you!  The black background doesn't usually throw me off this much anymore... but this being a whole new color scheme for me, the differences caught me off guard.  I actually made a medium render and plopped it in an old city.  I'm much happier today with things than I was last night.

Couchpotato:  Thanks!

Soulstealer:  Thank you!  I'm still going to change the bricks slightly... and make them a bit more subtle.

I let the computer run while packing up some Tupperware (Mom keeps me well stocked with it) this afternoon and did a test render to check the colors.  To be perfectly honest, I was pleasantly surprised.  I now think that the shading itself is fine the way it is... just the finer details need some tweaking.  But that's my opinion, and of course the whole purpose of this thread is to get yours... so here's a look:

(No comments on my city building... this is a pretty old downtown that I chose because I knew it had the Maxis buildings in it that I wanted to compare against.)  :D  I included a shot of the back to get a final idea of the brick textures too.  I also just plopped that block to test the w2w transition... which I'm quite happy with.  So there it is... I'll probably start tweaking and finishing the limestone tonight.  With any luck, this could be exported before the weekend is over.

Super job Jon.  I like it alot and don't see any reason why you should change anything about it.
Some closer pics would get me a little more excited about it though.  I want to see your incredible talent for the finer details.  ;)

Robin:  Thank you!  I didn't do closer pictures because most of the details weren't textured yet...  :D  But here's some now...

Duane:  Thanks!

Pat:  Thank you!  And it's good to have you back! ;)

I basically wrapped up the texturing today.  There are a few things that need to be tweaked, but nothing major at this point... just some bright and dull spots to adjust mostly.  I added most of the roof junk as well.  There may still be a few things here and there to add, but for the most part, I think the exterior is finally finished!

I plan to work on the interiors and lighting tomorrow.  If I'm missing anything major (or minor, I suppose) speak now or forever hold your elbow!

Do buildings like this have any electical boxes, and such on the outside, or is it all inside?

Other than that, everything looks nice.

One of the better res BAT's I've seen lately. It is res, right? If it is I would make use of the balcony. open a couple or more of french doors and do an upper class balcony. Just my humble opinion.

Great Job!!!

Jasoncw

Looking good.  I think the limestone should have more peach in it though.

thundercrack83

I'm holding my elbow--it looks great to me!

xxdita

Jon, this looks wonderful. And yeah, it really should overlook a nice park.

Pat Riot

wow. those textures are gorgeous. And the roof junk is spectacular, not many people would want to put the effort in to add that stuff up there, me i would have just put a cone up there, called it a satilite, and called it done  :D

Pat

Jon I dont see anything else that needs to be added here at all, I think its great as is... SO I guess Im holding my elbow lol

If I held my elbow, I couldn't finish work on my fences .. so .... anyway, keep up the great work.

RebaLynn:  Frankly, I don't know a building this size would have meters on the outside or not.  I don't think I'm going to mess with it this time though...

Soulstealer:  Thank you!  I'll probably make a residential version, but it was intended more as a commercial office.

Jason:  Thanks!  Millions of peaches?  (Peaches for free?)  I added an overlay... although it's pretty subtle.  Why do we call that color peach though?  It looks nothing like a peach.  Did the peaches just get jealous of the other fruits like oranges... plums... avacados?  Now I'm going to be up all night...  :D

Dustin:  Thank you!  I hope you haven't been holding it this entire time... ;)

Xxdita:  Thank you!  The park is up to you then.

Pat Riot:  Thanks!  The roof junk really didn't take that long... half of it is stuff I just use over and over again.

Pat:  Thanks!  Please... (this is for everyone) feel free to let go of your elbow and go about your normal routine.   :D

Duane:  Thanky u (or something like that)

RebaLynn:  Thanks!  I'm glad somebody didn't bother to take me seriously...  :D

I'm pretty sure this is just about done.  I have one or two minor things to add... but nothing that will have a huge effect on what you see here.  So here are the last shots before it gets in a game near you (well... near you if you live in Michigan for now anyway)

Have a great night!
