Soulstealer:  Thank you!  I had a feeling that pun would be used eventually...  :D

Pat:  I didn't mean you had to really... I'm not trying to run your life or anything... I just thought it would help.  :D

Dustin:  Thanks!  It will find it's way to Pennsylvania in time as well, I promise.

Sim Shady:  Thank you!  I'm more than happy to lay down some ownage now and then.

Pat Riot:  Thanks!  Sexy Beast, huh?  Well slap me around and call me Susan!   :D

RebaLynn:  Thank you!

The Citizen Building (which is what I finally decided to call it) will be exported tonight.

Once upon a time, back in the day (which was a Wednesday by the way... in case you've ever wondered about that), I promised that I would make a Five and Dime that was requested.  I finally got around to it (or maybe just remembered it?  but I digress) today.  It's a pretty simple little Smalltown building, but every town needs some fillers.  Actually, I had almost forgotten what it's like to make a building start to finish in a matter of hours!   ::)  So here it is...

I'll probably add a couple more things here and there... maybe an HVAC and some electric service in back... but this is pretty much it.  (And yes... this is my idea of "taking a break.")

Pat:  Thanks!  What can I say?  Neither rust nor David ever sleep... apparently you can add me to that list as well.  :D

Pat Riot:  Thank you!  Now that you mention it... I bet a lot of these dime stores turned into recruiting offices when they closed. ;)

RebaLynn:  Thanks!  Those are actually just 5 free spots shining down on an angle.  The white lettering just picks it up really well in this case.

Duane:  Thank you!  I'm glad you like it.

I made a couple tweaks, and since it's so darn small I figured I could afford another picture.  So here is the final version:

Since we're visiting Smalltown for a moment... does anyone else remember how I used to mention a train station every now and then?  I thought maybe it was time to do that.  Unfortunately, the Victorian style that I decided to go with is not very well suited to the infamous SC4 angle.  What's even dumber is that I knew  that... and went right on ahead anyway!  ::)  Here's what I mean:

Rather disappointing so far... but I feel quite sure that I will get over it.  I'll just keep going with this anyway... mostly because I think the next level will still provide enough visual interest to make the thing worth doing.  So there may be more to see tomorrow.  Well... there will be something to see tomorrow no matter what.  I just don't know which building it will be anymore.  I'm exporting the two most recent ones tonight...

Jon that looking rather good there soo far and I like the victorian style you are going for... You still do get to see the angles a little bit...

Try squashing the overhang a bit; that might expose more of the detail.

But yeah, that sort of thing is inevitably diminished in SC4.

so did I!  %BUd% &dance  I am excited about the train station and am looking forward to see how it turns out.

JBSimio

Pat:  Thanks!  Yes... the very bottom of the piece does show up, but the bracket part (which is the more interesting portion... naturally!) is entirely hidden.  Oh well  ::)

ACE:  Changing the roof pitch (squashing) won't really help any.  Shortening it helps show more of the walls, but of course makes the brackets smaller too so they stay just as hidden as they were.  The only thing that would really work would be to have the bracket supporting about 1meter of air below the roof.  :D  I'm alright with a cheat on the engineering here and there, but that's just a bit too obvious.   ;)

XiahouDun:  I'm glad you like the idea!

Edge:  I'm also glad you like it... sorry I made both of you cry though!  :D

Nothing to show right now... I'm just eating lunch at work and bored.  :P  I exported the Five and Dime as well as the Citizen Building last night.  I checked them this morning and both renders were successful so I'll probably have some in game pictures this evening after I get the LOTs put together.

I know that is the most intresting part of the detail there Jon..  I do agree that supporting air would look a tad bit off lol, either way I will stay tuned for the update later tonight....

you could support it from the top.  $%Grinno$%

Jon, love the train station....but not enough of an engineer to even venturea guess at what would help the angle....the only thing I thought of was making the supports a brassy/gold color that would stand out....but back in those days the supports if metal would have been a wrought iron, so that idea don't really get it.
Love the dime store. the tweaking went well (I've never said that to another human being before  :D )... can't wait to see it along alot of little main streets.

Have a good one.
