Pat:  Yeah... let somebody else hold the air up.  I just don't have time for stuff like that!  :D

Diggis:   :D  I suppose I could at that...  ::)

Duane:  Judging from the one picture I have to work off of (which is admittedly a black and white from who knows how long ago), the brackets actually look to be wood, but I'm not positive.  I'm sure some textures will help, but for now I just won't worry too much about it.  Glad you enjoyed the tweaking.  (That sounded more wrong than your comment!  :D )

Well, I managed to get both LOTs finished... and also all the modding.  I have to write some readmes and these will head off to the testing department on the third floor.  (OK... I made that up.  I have no idea where the testing department is.  They prefer I don't go there.)  First up is Rasco's Dime Store.  This is a 1x2, CS$, stage 3 growable with the usual plop version thrown in for good measure.

And then we also have The Citizen Building or Apartments depending on which version you use.  Three versions... all 3x3.  CO$$$, stage 7 growable or ploppable or R$$ stage 8.  They all look pretty much like this.

Thus far my progress.   :satisfied:  I'm going to go have some green beer.  Or maybe just Mt. Dew... who knows?   :D

happy saint patricks day (or as they say in ireland "Saint Poorigs Day" ) and great work on both buildings. You have quickly become one of my favorite batters.

HI, Jon.

I see you've been busy at work with more fantastic creations.  The detail you've been able to "pacK" into the "The Citizen Building" is just incredible.  I really look forward to my chance to use this beautiful model.  Really, Jon, it is a beauty.

As for your 5 and Dime store, I've got to tell you that this has brought back such memories for me.  I grew up in a small town in Kansas -- Russell to be exact -- and there were two stores that "anchored" the downtown area (all five blocks of it).  One was the Ben Franklin's 5 Cent and 10 Cent (more commonly known as the 5 and Dime store or just, Dime Store) and Duckwall's Department Store.  Both were your typical (for the 60s) variety stores where you could buy a wide variety of dry goods, merchantile and electronics items.

Seeing your "Rasco's Dime Store" has really brought back these fond memories and I will certainly enjoy this addition to your Smalltown, USA set.

Thank you.

Regards,

Gary

Wow. I have to say, while the big ones are great, I like to see a few more additions to the Smalltown series. The dime store looks good and the station is off to a good start. One thought I have for the roof support thing would be to make the roof just two sides (instead of wrapping around as it currently does) and adding a decorative flourish to the open end (I'll see if I can find a pic or two to show what I mean). It might require a redesign of the floorplan, or could be used for a smaller station, but it could help show off the design of the roof supports.

Derry:  Thank you!  I didn't end up going anywhere after all as it started raining shortly before I was about to leave.  Since it was only about 37F (3C)... I didn't really think green beer was worth the walk in that!  :D

Pat Riot:  Thank you very much!  I've got some Mt Dew right now as a matter of fact...  ;)

Gary:  Thank you!  We used to have a Ben Franklin's here in town up until about 5 or 6 years ago.  I'm not sure if it was the same chain or not though... this was more of a craft shop.  Your little list of items for sale made me chuckle a little bit because the story I put in the readme (written before your post) has a similar list.  You'll understand when you see it...  :D

Pat:   Thanks!  I hope St You day treated you well... that's kind of nice that you get an extra holiday all to yourself like that!

AlfredJones:  Thanks!

Matt:  I may look into leaving one side without the wrap around, but I won't really know until I get to the other sides.  Actually, the roof in general is giving me all sorts of headaches on this one...

This is a pretty small update really, but I have been tinkering with the Grand Trunk Station off and on.  Time is becoming a bit limited, and there are just so many little detail pieces for this that it's coming along pretty slowly right now.  The main roof is also giving me all sorts of trouble.  The top ridge line stays centered, but one side starts lower than the other does... throw in a couple dormers and things just get confusing.  But I'll sort it out eventually.  Here's a look at things now:

This will probably be it for a few days.  I'm headed up north for the weekend starting tomorrow morning.  I hope everyone has a good Easter... or just a good weekend if Easter isn't your thing!   :D

The second story is looking great. It reminds me of a place in Buellton, CA (1/2 hour or so north of Santa Barbara on US 101) called Peasoup Andersen's. It's a great place to stop for breakfast or lunch when you're on the road (and yes the soup is good). I can't find a good picture to show what I mean, but I think they show it in the movie "Sideways" if you've seen it. At any rate, I'll be interested to see this turn into a station. Hope your weekend is relaxing and we'll see you when you get back. Happy Easter.

'allo Jon,
Enjoy your Easter weekend.....hmmm, Ben Franklins is the same chain...when they saw the way that dime stores were dying out, they carved a niche for themselves in the craft industry (isn't it amazing the amount of mostly useless trivia we carry around with us :D).

Matt, I remeber Peasoup Anderson's from many years ago.....never caught on to eating peasoup (much to my mother's chagrin) but remember liking the restaurant.

The station looks like it's coming together nicely, my friend!

And a Happy Easter to you, too!

Wonderful new building there, JBSimio! Also a Happy Easter from me to you!

Really nice rural train station JB, looks very authentic. It reminds me of the train station in Kensington P.E.I. near where I grew up. Happy Easter ;D

It really is amazing.  You have been producing excellent BATs for quite a while now, but you really have hit this phenomenal run of late where everything you do ends up just looking absolutely amazing in SC4.  Thanks!!!

It sure does, Barby! That's one of my favorites, I think, and it looks fantastic in the game. Excellent work, Jon!

I agree with Sim Shady.....kind of the same thing in baseball when a player is "In the zone"...... incredible string of "home runs". &apls
