I just ran Cleanitol to see what I may have a problem with in the industry section, and it tells me that I am missing two bldgprops, both of which I should be able to get at SC4 ea, but I can't find anything there that faintly resembles bldgprop_vol1.dat or vol2.dat.  Help, I don't know what else to do but completely reinstall SC4 and start downloading all over again.

Thanks,

Annie

Here you go, accept the EULA and then the Lot Editor section. you should find them in there:

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your help.  I have everything downloaded now, hopefully, the brown boxes will be moved to another galaxy and I can build my industry as it should be, not as a row of brown.

Downloaded the missing bldgprops and guess what...I still have brown boxes.  This is becoming very irritating, frustrating and aggrevating!  I did a recheck on the cleanitol file, and they say I have all the dependencies that I'm supposed to have.  Where do I go now?

Thanks,

Query (click on) the brown boxes and write down the exact names of the buildings that are displayed in the titles.
Post those names here, and we should be able to help you identify which models your'e missing.

You can get both file from simcity.ea.com, you can find them if you click on the Lot Editor. bldgprop_vol1 is under SimCity Buildings as Props and bldgprop_vol2 is under Rush Hour Buildings as Props.

RippleJ gives good advise.

I recognize the Acme Pencil and Hudson Glass as being Jestarr buildings. They are available on the SC4D LEX here...
http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=840
http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=617

I don't recognize the Oil Additive ... but sounds like it could be Jestarr

Brown boxes are Maxis way of telling you that you don't have the model files. You'll get Pencil and Hudson if you go to the ABOVE URL's but you'll also get the pre-CAM lots. I would first go about finding your brown boxes by searching the LEX for Jestarr and download his prop packs. These prop packs should also contain the model files. Open the game and see if you've made any progress. And report back here if needed. Perhaps someone else will know who did the Oil Additive lot?

Hope this helps.

<edit> Just thought of this aid ... Here is a good place to begin and the first place you shoud go in your quest for missing model files.

Thanks "J" for the info.  It worked....no more industrial brown boxes.  I was begining to fear that I would have to live with them, didn't make me happy!  There are times when I feel really stupid playing this game, but I am sort of housebound, and as a result, can get bored easily.  When my last computer crashed, it took my game with it.  I had XP then, and it worked with no problems.  This computer came with Vista, and it is a bit different to work with.  On top of which, I'm not young anymore (65) and sometimes I think people think I'm getting senile, but guess what folks....working with this game makes you think, and hopefully will save the dementia until I'm 102.  ;)

Love you all,
Annie

Glad to hear you got rid of those boxes, Annie!
And thanks Jim for helping her out! :)

Keep playing and you'll stay young forever!
