Given that I've been playing SC4 since it came out, this is a stupid question and I apologise in advance.

I just removed and re-loaded SC4 and put all my plugins etc back. It's running a lot faster but I have forgotten how to turn the Advisor pop-ups that jump into the middle of the screen and slow everything down. Can anyone tell me how to do this again?

I think it's in the game menu that looks like a computer monitor. (If not there, try the one that looks like gears)

It's the gears.  There should be a box labeled "Urgent Advice Dialogs". 
Of course, for entertainment purposes, try the DollyLlama cheat . . . you'll see the advisors for who they really are . . .  :D
