Spring is pretty subtle in Alaska- one day you sort of wake up and just realize winter's over.  Usually there is still quite a bit of snow around, but suddenly the sun is shining a lot higher in the sky, you stop wearing the heavy coat, and water is flowing everywhere.

I haven't posted any photos here for quite a bit, so yesterday I took a break and shot a few with you folks in mind.

Everybody is walking.

Mountains begin shrugging off winter's cold embrace.

The ice starts heading down the river.

The sky soaks up all those cold weather blues.

And the iron chill of January night is broken once again.

Celebrate spring!

Gorgeous photos, David. They look almost as good as the pics of 3RR! Do you remember the John Wayne Movie "North to Alaska" and the part of one song that goes "When it's springtime in Alaska, it's 40 below?" Glad to know that part isn't true!

Thanks for sharing this stuning scenery with us!

Hello, David.

It is so nice to see you posting again in "Memories Frozen In Time".  I always enjoy reading your posts and viewing your beautiful pictures.  You latest thread certainly lives up to my expectations.

You have such a wonderful way of capturing the exquisite beauty of nature in your pictures.  I really love the beautiful snow scenes you've posted -- especially of the  mountains.  It makes one believe they are actually right there watching the wind whisk the snow from the peaks.

Excellent photos, David.  Thank you for sharing this bit of beauty from Alaska.

Regards,

Gary (Vandy)
