Victory (VE) day parade rehearsals in Moscow

Well it is a rehearsal because the actual parade will take place on Red Square. For the first time in many years. Last years (including 2005 (50 years)) it was held on other location, not so downtown.
Right now special crews of army ingeneers are fortifying roof of the undeground shopping mall over which all that hardware would have to pass in order to get to red Square.

There are some rumors that that Mall has been built in such a place specially to block access of such a hardware close to Kremlin. But in all fairness it sounds more like a some old ladies gossip...

LoL gotta love the old ladies gossip!!! WoW that is something I didnt know till now about there hasnt been a parade in red square for that long....

That actually makes a lot of sense. During the Cold War, they where doing all sorts of crazy things encase they got invaded - look at the Metro 2, as theres no doubt that it exists. If by some fluke the States didnt Nuke Moscow and instead invaded, any heavy armoury that would of passed over the underground mall would of been incapacitated and also prevent anything else from getting closer, hence giving the Soviet military a advantage somewhat (I say somewhat as if the States did get that close, the Soviets would still likely be screwed....). I wouldnt be surprised if there are more sites like this around Moscow.

the Mall was built in mid 1990s. And fear was not of American tanks that were feared, but Russian ones. in early 90s (1991 and then 1993) tanks were called to the streets of city twice. So to make it impossible for them to reach Kremlin would they get there 3rd time was seen as a reasonable side benefit to the construction of the "temple of capitalism"... New government is again sure of it's control over country and army, though...
