Actually, they used transparent lots with just the overlays of single tracks on them. The "fading" is caused by the shadow plane that is attached to each of the engine automata prop models.

Warrior,

The textures are available from North Country Dude's Railway Textures Mega Pack.

Everything explained by the folks was true. The automata props made that weird shadow that got rid of the tracks too much (you can kinda see them peeking through) so I'm probably going to replace them with the new peg railfleet FT engines soon. They're just lots, so they're non functional (tho I do have transition to rail pieces). And that's basically it.

Jesus those engines look gigantic, a bit oversized if you ask me, props fault, not yours though, great scene you've created again.

Cosmic

The reason for those engines looking so large, is because the game's automata are smaller then Pegasus made the props.

To quote:
Quote from: PegasusAs the game automata trains are considerably under scaled, these props are larger... and scaled to look more appropriate on lots with properly scaled structures, vehicles, peeps and other props.

So there you have it: Sim City is not the game for you if you want realistic scaling.  :D

But nice pictures, in any case.

I redid some old maps' railway stations recently - interested in a teaser (might come in Urland ... soon! ;) )

Have fun!

Very nice looking Bernhard! I give it 5 :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:! :D

A new station with a "park and ride" facility, which hopefully is going to be used when the area develops.

Close-up.

I'm aware of that, and the automata is under scaled, but I still think PEG's engines are still over scaled, I like the scale of Jestarr's train props, seems right in the middle and perfect.

Nice work krbe. I haven't seen a sunken station like that for a while. The rail underpass itself looks really good and I hope you show another pic of the area when it's developed.

Time for another station (or rather three). I'm basing my region on Copenhagen, though it's far from an accurate recreation. But you'll be able to spot some familiar areas; one of them is Flintholm Station. My version doesn't look anywhere near the original though:

Click for large version

Metro services running on the el-rail, 4-car S-trains (third rail Electrostars) on the upper level and 2-car S-trains on the lower level.

I'm considering wether I should remove the centre roads; that might make me able to place them tighter. We'll see

@krbe:

Interesting layout but I don't see how passengers shall switch trains between the two RR lines.

OK, I have a new shot for you, too:

Have fun ...!

Bernhard

Very nice Nardo. I love the use of the diagonal filler pieces and the trees.
Meh!

threestooges

krbe: nice work, but to repeat Nardo's statement regarding passenger switching, did you use the NAM grass ped mall piece to get people up the hill, or is it just an "implied" transition?

Bernhard: Nice work with the diagonal rail there. A very seem-less look. Out of curiousity, what is that little building right by the roundabout (with the green/white awning etc)? Good work on the new pic.

@threestooges: Thanks Matt! Hopefully I can release these lots some day ... they are (way!) more than 100 altogether ...
That building are the Organic Hawkers I think - they are a reward of the BSC Farms but I couldn't find the link - neither on the LEX nor on the STEX but I think Barbie should know it.
It works as a small hospital and is very nice for small urban communities

Matt, Bernhard; All were* connected by by roads and buses, and when we know how crazy these Sims are when it comes to buses, it did work to some extent...

* I redid the entire area, moved all stations closer and connected them with pedmalls/bridges.

The layout looks like this, where X is the ped-bridges to the upper-level station. The ||| denotes an avenue running under the metro line and upper-level S-train line. The P's denote the place in front of the lower level S-train station and the Metro station.

Here's one from my MD Imaginia. You see a rail system at the bottom and a GLR system at the top. The catenaries are my own design, based on Dutch ones.

That looks very nice!

Do you have some closeups of the catenaries?
