Amazing...........it's all amazing.  The Taft building looks perfect and I think it would make a great CS$$ building.  The main academic building is looks awesome.  I relly like the over all feel.  The arched windows and hallway looked great.  And my dream has come true............more SHUR buildings........and 12 of them.  WOW...OMG.......this day will be a great day when those are released.  Entire city blocks of Sims will be moving in.....I had better sit down to plan all this out.  By the way, how much time do I have to plan for the Shur building?   Hehehe..........just kidding.  Better to take your time than rush.

man oh man, all those projects are absolutely amazing. i love those brownstones and i'm really loooking forward to the release of those as with all your other projects! i can't wait to see what you do next!

JBSimio

Rooker:  Thanks!  The 12 Brownstones will actually become 4.  They'll be set up in families so the color schemes are randomized.  Those are going to take a while to finish.  The Taft Building will be a 3x2 corner lot and should be ready in the next week or so.

Goin2Chicago:  Thanks!  Next???  &mmm  I think I have too many things going already... but who knows?

I got the Taft Building exported last night.  It shouldn't take long to get the lots done... then it will just need some testing and it should be ready to go.  I'm shooting for next week sometime... hopefully.

You mean you haven't another 200 simultaneous projects at present? Too bad :D :D

There is some lovely stuff here JBSimio. I'm intersted to see what sort of brick texture you will apply to the university buildings as well; it could also work with bluestone/ivy but whatever you come up with, I'm sure it will look top notch.

JBSimio

Thanks, Matt!  Nope... I put a cap at 143 concurrent projects.  :-\  ;D I haven't completely decided on a brick texture for Westlake yet.  I have a couple ideas, but I'm still open to suggestions at this point.

Speaking of Westlake... I realized I forgot to answer one of Threestooges questions.  The main academic building is inspired by about three different buildings.  The center portion is based on Mary Grove College in Detroit... the large arched windows are from a Presbytirian (I know I spelled that wrong...  &ops) church in Saginaw, MI... and the gateways and overall feel of the building (as well as the name) is from a movie called "Cry Wolf."  It's an OK movie... but I wouldn't spend to much time trying to find it.  I was on Showtime one night and I thought, "That would make a cool looking school."

Just a quick update on the Taft Building.  I got the lots done and sort of tested.  A little more tweaking and this should be ready to go in the very near future.  Here's a teaser:

JB

PS... Three of the brownstones are rendered... nine more to go!   ;)

Wonderful building! Great textures!

threestooges

Thank you for your detailed reply (I hope I don't make you write too much). Also, if I am correct, I believe it is spelled 'ter' instead of 'tir'. The SHUR buildings look great and will be a nice addition when finished. I'm looking forward to having those in my city soon.

goin2chicago

when i say "can't wait to see what you do next" is just like saying i can't wait for more pictures or any type of releases or any updates on bats. it's just an easy way of saying all that without saying all that. understand? lol.

i like the taft building and how you put it on a more corner oriented lot. i love your work because it's my favorite style to build in the game and also to see in real life. excellent stuff!

nofunk

JB! It took me a while to mosey on over here lol...

The SHUR projects are fantastic. I certainly hope you get around to finishing them all. I especially love the Taft Building. It's a solid building with strong details.

And I love how Fledgeling is bringing up all these old projects. Of course you should release them all, especially the brownstones. They'd add some much needed variety to the ones already available.

As always, great work.

P.S. I'll be sending some stuff your way soon!  ;D

JBSimio

Rooker:  Thanks!  It should be on the LEX very soon.

Bat:  Thank-you!

Threestooges:  The various SHUR stuff is coming along, thanks!  Eh... spelling is overrated anyway!  $%Grinno$%

Goin2chicago:  I know what you meant... I just had to poke back a little bit.  I kid, I kid... :D  I'm glad you like it.  It's always been my favorite styles too.  I just enjoy the little details and craftsmanship that builders don't seem to bother with anymore.

Nofunk:  Welcome!  The Taft Building is next on the list... soon.  The brownstones, well look down, are getting there.  I'm glad you like them.  Thanks!  I'll be watching for what you have next.  (Here is probably a better place to PM me, btw)

As I said, the Taft Building is very close to finished.  Just some final details and it should be done.

The brownstone set is completely rendered!  I got the low wealth lots done last night.  (There will be medium wealth versions as well, but one thing at a time please)  They are all 1x2 with 86 residents each.  They will play into the BSC rewards as well as a newly created SHUR reward chain.  (Don't ask what that will become... I really don't know yet... hopefully it will be cool whatever it is!)  Anyway... SimCity just got a little more ghetto fabulous.  Have a look:

More to come!  I have the weekend off... so maybe a lot more!  :satisfied:

Those look perfect.

I was wandering, how hard would it be to make an a few lots 2x2 (with the same bat) and put electrical wire from one building to the other with a shoe hanging.  A plop would be good that way you could use it where ever you liked.  Better still an over hanging prop, to cross the street to the building on the other side.  I think I maybe dreaming now.  But that would be so realistic.

Anyways, awesome work!

I've never seen a shoe hanging from an electric wire!  :D

rooker1

You know, like in the movies when the bully throws the other kid's shoes over the electrical wire.

Rooker:  Thanks!  I do have a plan for a 2x version, but not with the shoe hanging from the power line.  It's a cool idea, and wouldn't be that hard to do.  My only concern is the realism of it.  The wires wouldn't go from one building to another, but from building to "phone pole" in the alley.  Without knowing where that phone pole is in relation to each building, it would be impossible to know if the power lines would line up.  I think you'll like the end result, though.  It's even more ghetto than the shoe thing...  ;D

Sebes:  Thank-you!  I hope to get some more done with that this weekend.

Scorer:  I've never actually seen it in real life either... but I have seen it in movies several times.

In the process of trying to dig up the other buildings that Fledgeling mentioned, I found another one that I temporarily forgot.  The sad thing is that I forgot it in less than two months!  This is another one I saw when I went to Chicago for New Years (which is where all these brownstones came from as well).  It's nothing over-spectacular, but I thought it had some nice character and I ended up with this:

Hasta luego... cheers... word to your mother... pick your favorite closing,

OK... that last picture wasn't all that exciting.  Let's try this again.  I finished all of the modeling on Lockwood Arms and put some textures on it.  I'm not entirely sure if I want to stick with the brown or switch to more of a rose-ish color for the upper brick.  Any thoughts?

In other news, I started making lots for the R$$ brownstones.  There will be 1x2 and also 1x3 sizes for the medium wealth.  The 1x3 will have "off street parking" and those are the ones I tried to work on this morning.  I'm pretty happy with them so far, but some little things still may change.

As always, I'm open to suggestions and ideas.

I'm also working on a couple things for the low wealth versions still as well.  There will be a 2x2 lot with one brownstone and one "vacancy" of some sort or another... might be open land, might be something else... but that's about all I can say at this point.

I'll give you an idea/suggestion, release them as soon as possible, as I'm dying for them $%Grinno$% No, really, they look just perfect  &apls

goin2chicago

very nice. i like the low wealth lot and the medium. now i have some suggestions since you're always so open to them. lol. those white benches in front of the low wealth lot stick out too much and don't go along with the building or any of it's surroundings. i would probably put the brown ones that you used in front of the medium wealth for the low wealth as well because they would fit better than the white ones. as for the alley behind the medium wealth lots, i would probably go with the cracked cement that you used in the other lots because i think it would look better and in real life it would be more than likely to find an old cracked up dirty cement alley behind any building no matter what wealth it is rather than a new looking asphault. those are just some ideas and if you do them or not, i'll download either way. the lockwood arms looks great also and maybe once i see you try some other brick textures i could decide which one i like but the one you have now looks great. i just wanted to say thanks for anything you've done in the SC4 community and all the hard work you've put forth. keep up the great work!

threestooges

My only comment on these is in regard to the garages for the off street parking. Unless they are reserved/rented out to higher paying residents, it seems that they would be insufficient to serve the entire facility. I'm not sure what I would recommend as a suitable change for it. However, everything else looks great and these seem like they will be a very nice addition.
