SC4 Picture Competition

First of all, congratulations to girlfromverona for an excellent entry into the Hall of Fame, well deserved!

As for this round.

I don't mind seeing some Maxis things growing in cities, in fact, some of them display great architectural flair. However, the use of Maxis content is not the "problem" (for want of a better word) in Kitsune's picture, I can't seem to pinpoint the drama and excitement that should elevate an image - above the standard display of what happens in a game of SC4. The gold stature featured in the roundabout is a good start, but in my humble opinion, something needs to be happening in the scene to make the viewer go "WOW!" I think that if the same picture was taken at night, it would immediately add another dimension straight-away.

The candy colours in iamgoingtoeatyou's agricultural scene is a nice departure from the saturated palette of SC4. Even though it may be an image of a rural town, the clinical placement of the trees, crops and houses gives the viewer an insight into the lives of the residents. A great picture that tells a story, a win-win situation.

On these points, my vote goes to iamgoingtoeatyou.

P.S I hope my critique of Kitsune's entry is not too harsh, my intent was not to berate the author's work, but to offer an explanation of how I have voted. I felt that I needed to include this little note because sometimes its hard to know the poster's original intentions when its beamed across the net.

You know, I'm going to be the oddball here and go with Kitsune Its a nice, visually pleasing city shot. iamgoingtoeatyou  entered a very good picture, but that just bright blue field kind of draws my eye away from the rest of it.

I really like iamgoingtoeatyou's pic. Although the colours are a little brighter than what I'd normally go for, it really looks like it'd be a lovely place to visit!

My vote goes to Chris' picture. I like the round feed bin for the cattle, the two variations of paths, the windmill, the stone buildilng. It all works together and looks very natural.

Wow........two super pictures.  This is going to be a great battle.

I'll start with the last round winner.  IAGTEY.........I alwys love your pictures.  They are always setup in a realistic way.  And I usually love the colours as well.  But in this case, the blue is too much for me although everything else is perfect.  The trees that line the street looks great, the farms and houses work very well together.  But again, the blue.......

Chris, what can I say........house on the hill, just what I have always wanted.  And all your work in one pic.  I wish the path continued right under the windmill.  Other than that, I love the small details you have added here and there.  The model you have choosen look great.  I don't recognise it though, where is it from?

The model you have choosen look great.  I don't recognise it though, where is it from?

It might be from a Swi21 prop pack, but I'll have to check, I'll get back to you on that one.

IAGTEY's pic is nice but somehow ... German word is "bonbonfarben" - reminds me more of SC3K than SC4. And Chris's pic is IMHO statoe of the art regarding rural design.
