Hello Deepnx

You may want to look here [ linkie ] if you have a new computer with duo core. Hope this helps. I don't have your particular computer set up so I'll not be much help other than to send you to a thread where there is already some discussion.

Windows XP SP2

Calm is needed. You have all the incredients for a good game PC, thus it isn't your hardware. What you are not saying is what OS you are running: XP-SP2? Vista? If Vista, which version?

Is this a new machine, and if so, are you done with all the updates Microsoft forces onto any new PC or OS installation.

Moreover, you stated in your penultimate post that you did everything in that tutorial. I don't mean to anoy you, put can you please double-check that you followed the steps exactly? Both parts of the tutroial are viatal, in that order. If none of this helps, then we need to consider more drastic steps vis-a-vis the installation - re-installing alone does not make a difference because the original information remains in the registry even after a complete uninstall.

I'll try and watch this thread, but you will need a bit of patience..

jestarr

The last time this happened to me, I'd forgotten to install the sound card drivers. :P  Just to double check I'd go into the device manager to ensure that there's nothing missing.

btw, HandsOn, read the last line of deepnx's first post... it states that his OS is xp sp2

Old age makes me half blind, sorry about that  &ops

XP makes things easier in many ways, but it really needs all upgrades. Also check on the nVidia site for the lates upgrade to the graphics driver for your 8800GT - I do know that they have updated drivers in the past siz weeks..
