I think it's great to see a new comer in the contest.
Both pics are very good.
slann, I like the over all look of your city, but I'm not too big on those bright roofs.
Nikoliaï, the only thing in your pic I may think of changing is those white rocks to the green version.
With that said I will be voting for Nikoliaï.

slann's picture is a great showcase of some very interesting custom content. Although it is strange to see a cathedral lying so close to neo-classical temples, and I also think the textures on the temples could be a little more "realistic" unless you were really trying for the (sometimes) "fake" look of St. Basil. Its a technically superb image though, great effort spent in creating the area and the seasonal trees really make the scene "pop".

The road bridge over the creek is a nice touch in Nicokai's European city, I don't mind the rocks as much, the only thing that sort of unsettles the eyes is the apartment block on the left that overlooks the creek. The arbitrary angel that its on may help to break the grid, but I think in this case, it is too much of a distraction to the central figure in this picture - the natural environment in the built environment.

On these points, my vote goes to Nikolai.

I really love the small town feel of nikolai and the carefully placed trees and rock around the river. It really brings out the beauty of that one area. In slann, it looks great zoomed out, but zoomed in I have reservation if it could compare to nikiolai.
