This is wonderful news! Welcome back, my friend!

It's so good to see activity here--and what activity is, too! Love update here, Dapto looks just splendid!

I can't wait to see more, Dave!

Occasional lurker coming out of hiding, at long last. ;)

Dapto looks absolutely fantastic, Dave.  A very realistic farming community, and it looks like a nice place to live.  The rail interchange there looks very nice, and I love your NAM Curve usage.  And that RHW with the truck stop there is just amazing, even if the traffic volume was a bit low at that time of day.  Your use of jeronij's Ploppable Water there is just absolutely fantastic as well.

I'll definitely be following Balnavia more. :)

Hey, Dave- since the brief break you took sort of coincided with my own, well: perfect timing, my friend!  Dapto is an extra helping of Balnavian goodness- brilliant use of those wide curves (there's more on the way) and of Paul's (paroch) custom content.  I'll be waiting to DL that rest stop, as well.

Great stuff here!

Good to see you back in the game, Dave, and glad to see you haven't lost your magic touch!

You've done a terrific job of working the curvy roads into the landscape - I especially like the second photo. You've managed to place farms near a neighborhood and make it look natural - quite an accomplishment in my book! And those fountain parks behind the church look right at home.

Then there are the famous "tooheys trains" that miraculously appear right on cue in the perfect spot on a long curve. That seventh photo is a pic comp winner if ever I saw one! The rest stop is sure to be a hit, too, and we'll get those last-minute details ironed out ASAP. I love the way you've placed it and Paul's market lots next to the water. I haven't seen that arrangement used before but it works really well.

Enjoy your game...
Joan

Ahh Dave, good to see you back.  Good to see you were using your time wisely.  ;)

Your rural shots are stunning, and Joan is right, that one with the train on the corner is a keeper.  Looking forward to seeing more.

stewart_garden

Great to see you are back at it again Dave.  Personally I love your second shot.  It is also great to see how your skills have developed over this MD.  I will try to be around more often.

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

Hey good to see you back in the game Dave.

I'm a sucker for a good suburb and your opening pic is a GREAT one.  You've really worked those Maxis buildings to brilliant effect.  Makes me realise I should turn the "Maxis blocker" off every now and then!

You've done a great job with the farms as well, really nicely done.  Those animal pens by the railway are new to me.  I'm guessing either from Chrisadam's RRP or some custom lotting of your own?  And of coure a nice tooheys gag thrown in as well.  Also in that pic is a lorry with an Eddie Stobart trailer.  They are probably the most common lorries you see in the UK, so I always smile when I see one pop up in an MD from outside of our little island :)

Those red double deck trains passing through great countryside are becoming a bit of a Balnavian signature image.  And I agree with Joan, that curved rail shot with great farms, TPW and a train in view all add up to a winning Picture Comp entry - just one question - what kind of newts are in that TPW lake?

The rest stop has turned out really well, I hope you are pleased with it - because you should be.

And thanks for showing off the markets with great results

Looking forward to more from Balnavia.

Paul

thundercrack83: Thanks Dustin, though it was about time I did something before you locked me away
in the dungeon  :D

Tarkus: Alex, thanks for dropping by. Love your work with the RHW and hope I can show it off a little here.
A few more pics are below, and traffic has picked up a bit.

dedgren: David, give me more curves (we are talking about roads aren't we  ::) ) Appreciate the
comments and the rest area will be available soon.

Jmouse: Thanks Joan, I have entered that pic and it's doing alright so far. As for the "tooheys" trains, I'm
afraid they dont always run on time and require a little patience (which is about as much patience as I have)

bat: Thanks alot bat

Simpson: Thanks Simpson, this is my favourite kind of area to work with. Glad you enjoy.

TheTeaCat: Hey TTC, thanks for the comments. As for filling each and every tile, that is an obsession of mine,
for better or worse. I try to leave some tiles unimproved, but the mouse just takes over  ;)

Diggis: Thanks Shaun, wish I could spend all my time that way, wisely that is  ;D

stewart_garden: Stewart, that was my fave to, which is probably why I went for a bit of overkill and showed it
from different angles. Good to see you dropping by. (what chance those Bronco's )

threeswept: Thanks threeswept, I like to mix the tiles up a bit, but I really enjoy the rural tiles.

pipishere: Hi pip, you probably haven't missed that much, I've been hibernating. Good to see you dropping by.

Pat: Hi Pat, well there are a couple of more pics below (did I say a couple  $%Grinno$%)

paroch: Now how did I know that the longest reply would be from Paul, Joan would be proud of you  ;)
Maxis Blocker, you know I've never tried that. A tad late for this region but something I might try next time
around (yes there will be another MD one day). The animal pens are from Newman Inc but I'm having a bit of
trouble tracking them down again. It's a pack of several lots, cow pens, horses, chooks, pond, windmill. I'll
keep working on it, worse comes to worse, I'll send you the lots if you want them. There are no newts in the
ponds, the croc's ate them all  ()sad() . Thanks for the great comments, and I'll show off the market lots as
much as I can, they are a great addition to the game.

Dapto

Dapto is all but done. Thanks for the great response to the last update. I have been working hard to finish off
the tile and here are 1 or 2 or 3 or........ (hmm perhaps I got a bit carried away). But anyways, hope you like.

As you can see, it is a mostly rural community, a few small residential areas and an industrial area down by the river.

To the top right corner. Hmm, those stairs, really need to find something else to use here.

Now heading to the bottom left corner.

Here is a small gated community. A rural area, you may well think that this is the
home of some rather elite residents looking to seperate themselves from the "lower class" farming society. How wrong you are.
Only the strongest and most virile farming couples live here. Mingling with bankers, lawyers and other professionals is
frowned upon, you have to keep those farming bloodlines clean to ensure the ongoing success of this farming area.
The fact that all the farmers are related is a mute point (I think I have insulted enough people, time to move on :-[)

Yep, I'm still having a trouble with the sidewalk mod, but it is being looked into (believe me  %confuso )

I did say this was a rural community, best I show a farm or two.

And a new prop or two. I've finally found Chris' RRP. The fence is his, the beauty of the lot, well it plops over a tile
but you can still add trees etc. Love it, great work.

Of course most towns have their dirty side. Dapto is no different. As green as it is, the odd leakage from the
industrial area has found it's way down to the river, stunting growth along the way.

And here is the local home of the Hwy BOOS (Balnavian Officers Opposing Speeding).
Booze is someone elses problem  $%Grinno$%

So that is Dapto. Time to move on, where to next, not sure but I have several options thanks to DEVO '08.

Until next time.

Cheers

Dave

That looks great mate.  Really well laid out.  How do you always manage to catch the trains so well?  And is that another cricket ground I spot there?  ;)

bat

Dapto is a really beautiful looking rural city there, tooheys!
Fantastic pictures of it!

Looking forward to more beautiful pictures... ;)

Hello David

I like the update. The rock mod works real well on bumpy terrain. I like the highway exit with the gas station and the two billboard signs. I also like screen of the highway curve with the flowers, rocks, and plantings in the median.

Looking at your pictures was time well spent. Thanks.

Yes, all in all a very nice quad you've got there.

It really is well balanced, rural, bit of resi, plus some industiral with the blue bits scattered about.  And your use of RHW and rail ties it all together well.

The gated community is a nice touch and good to see the toohey tennis courts again, which I think were the catalyst to your foray into LE if I remember correctly.

The greenhouses and that windmill are just little standouts for me, I think they really add to the farming scenery.

Looking forward to what is next, especially if it involves football stadiums!
