Back on the tracks !

So today, some parts of the Old City.

The old City of Tientsin (Vielle Ville), also know the chinese town is a roughly a rectangle, formerly circled by walls, destroyed in the late XIXth. The old city is quite well preserved, some european architecture can be found inside the walls, but mostly is hasn't been touched. We canot say that for the others districts outside the walls, all of them has been detroyed in the XIXth century.


In light blue, the pre-french urbanization, in Dark blue the Walled City of Tientsin. In less than 70 years, more than 50% of the traditional urbanization on Tientsin Isle has been detroyed. Since the Preservation Act of 1972, all those heritage is protected. Outside of Tientsin Isle on Tientsin Mainland, the situation is far better, most of the old cities has been preserved with view european intrusian , so do the monastries and temples.


Before the city had a very important canal system, but know only two remains, named Xianz Canals.


Facing the Tientsin Castle, the Palais des Jesuistes ( Company of Jesus Palace) is one of the only example of the "Jesuits" era in Tientsin among the Holy Mary of Tientsin Church.



The former walls of the city has been replaced by large avenue in the 1870s, making the old city an island in an ocean of bigger structure.

Hey vesfalo, great to see Tientsin back again.  And what an update to come back with!  A great mixture of Chinese and European architecture.  And those markets looks really good there, especially the bit seperated by the canal.

Yet the place of the Simplypic games has to be decided. Jean Duval-Teng, NOC president, has told the press that during a recent meeting with Fort Bayart Mayor and Prefect Governor, the location of the Olympics wouldn"t been held on Tientsin Isle but in Lachine or Carrière Districts : first to not but more presure on the real estate market in Tientsin Isle and to have a unique chance to develop modern infrastructure in Lachine or Carrière district.
