Hi!

Since this is one of my first posts here, I want to thank everybody on this board for contributing on the game and making it so much better. I am a long time reader on this board as well as on simtropolis, more or less a leecher. And unless I'll be able to give something back (I have no idea of how to make custom content but maybe a MD in the future) I will continue to be so ;D.

Here's my question: I've installed the avenue curves sidewalks from sithlrd98 but am not able to find them anywhere in the game menu. May it be, that it collides with some other sidewalk mod? The curved street sidewalks are there, in the parks menu but no sign of the curved avenue sidewalks.

I am very grateful for any answer. Thanks in advance!

Hello ivoignob ,
The avenue curves were moved with the release of the newest NAM. Now they are in the same tab-ring as the roundabouts. Hope that helps!

Hi Jayson,

thanks for your reply. Yes, the curved avenues are in the same tab as the roundabouts. But I am not searching the curved avenues but the curved avenues sidewalk &cry2.

I am slightly confused....the mod (avenue sidewalk) needs to be installed in the "My Documents/simcity4/Plugins/Network Addon Mod/plugins"folder or,for vista "C:\Users\Username\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\Network Addon Mod\Plugins" in order for them to show up. either way , make sure that the "zzz"stays in front of the mods file name.

Hello Jayson,

it was my fault. I didn't put the file into the NAM-folder. The sidewalks now are there. But only for the curved avenues without sidewalk to disappear. Isn't it possible to have both at the same time? Sidewalks for the city and plain curved avenues for more rural areas? It was the same with the new gridless roads (FAR?). I installed sidewalks for them somewhere and I wondered, where the ones without sidewalk have gone. It would be good, to have both but it seems like it isn't possible, right?

By the way, thanks for all the cool mods, you made!

Ivoignob,

There's only one set of puzzle pieces and one set of graphics for them. Jayson edited the graphics to add sidewalks, so all the puzzle pieces that use those graphics have sidewalks. It would be extra work to have a set of rural (no sidewalk) puzzle pieces in addition to the existing ones. Such extra work might prevent future additions to the NAM as there are only so many IDs that can be used before having conflicts or choosing what to add.

Hello Swamper,

thanks for your reply, I understand now. But I remember, there were ploppable sidewalks for the curved roads (not avenues). One simply plopped them on the curved road puzzle piece. So they weren't edited roads, but simply a texture which could be plopped on the road. Isn't it possible to make a similar texture for the avenues? Please don't get me wrong, I really appreciate all the work you guys made. I was only wondering about possibilities. Hope my limited english knowledge don't leads to missunderstandings.  ;)

Thanks!

Maybe the best solution for you would be to use wide avenue curves (with Jayson's mod) inside the city and wide RHW curves outside of it?

Hello Adam,

actually never thought of this. I have some city and an industrial area nearby. I wanted to connect them simply by extending the avenue from the city. It isn't a long distance, that's while I didn't think about the rural highway, but I might try it. Thanks!   :)

You can make very nice transition from an avenue to RHW 4 using short stretches of One-Way road. The RHW hasn't sidewalks, so it looks very good surrounded by forest/meadows/farmfields. Then it can turn into an ave again entering into an industrial area  :)

Sorry so late to respond...at this time if you want sidewalk curves, then like Jan(Swamper)said, you can't have sidewalk-less curves in the same city. I will soon be attempting a t-21 approach to this problem. Adam , that's an excellent idea , I never thought about doing that!
