Looking very good i really like it

iamgoingtoeatyou

Are you doing that crazy theme park near the Tokyo Dome? If so, I can't wait to see how you recreate it!

dmscopio

iamgoingtoeatyou: You mean the LaQua Park? Nah, I am creating something similar, an original design. it is more fun for me to have my own design, however, i draw reference from the LaQua Park.
But lately, I been working on another small project, the Disney Concert Hall in LA:

Been playing around with NURBS surface lately, and i think i will do the Guggenheim in Bilbao as well.

Wow! You are a BAT God... Do the Guggenheim of Bilbao and you'll be my hero :) Well, I have to say that I live in Bilbao, and if you need any images of the museum to make the BAT, just ask me. ;)

nice to know you are actually living in Bilbao! I do need some more reference of the building. is it possible that you can take some photo from a high building nearby the Guggenheim? i need a clear aerial view picture like this one here:

So that i can see the roof structure of the building.

Meanwhile, here is another teaser:

Hi,

This new project is really sensational. You meet very well the curves of the Guggenheim. But perhaps you will need this for textures

Hello Orange-0-

It appears that you are having a little difficulty with the white texture for your church. There is a lot of glow and you've lost all the texture detail.

One this to keep in mind with the in game white is that the Maxis buildings are not bright white. To test this you can get a screen grab of some of the Maxis white buildings and then use the color picker tool of your paint program. You will see that the brightest white buildings are usually around R=220, G=220, and B=220.  I don't recall seeing any buildings with brighter whites than RGB=220. So - when I do a bat I usually make my whites around RGB = 190 to 200.  The texture below is my painted white concrete texture with cuts. Note the RGB levels.

White is a particularly difficult thing to get right for a bat. It is most noticeable on a curved surface. No matter how dark you make your white there will always be a huge glowing area. I applied the above texture to a box with two bends.

The way to get around this is to clone a second box. Use the scale tool and make it slightly larger than the original. In the picture below you will see that I made box02 1% larger. I also made a copy of the original texture but I applied 30% opacity to it. Then UV mapped the semi opaque texture to box02. The result is that you can have a curved white surface that still retains texturing detail.

Here you go. Box02 with its semi opaque texture is wrapped around Box01. This gives me a curved white surface with little or no glare. In fact, you can control the amount of glare buy increasing or reducing the amount of opacity.

You may want to try this with your next 'white building with curved walls'.

OK, I will try tomorrow (if I had known that you need that point of view earlier I would took it yet, I just arrived from the area of the Guggenheim). Anyway, I don't know if it's possible to have a photo from a point of view like that. The museum is taller than any building around it (in three years it will be a tower near it, but is a lot of time to wait :D), but I will try taking the photo anyway...

Meanwhile, maybe you can use those:

In other order, where I can get this building of yours?

dmscopio

I notice the link of the shenzhen library and music hall is down, i will try to upload it to my site later for you to download. Thanks again for the help!

Wow, your bat of the Disney Concert Hall is just fantastic. I hope to see the Guggenheim in Bilbao, I've been there and it's a spectacular site :)

EDIT: Oh, btw, if you need aerial pictures, go to www.live.com and head to maps and head over to L.A and the concert hall and click 'birds eye view' and bam, aerial pictures from all angles :)
