Here is an overall transportational overview of the region:



The reasoning behind this particular arrangement has to do with my overall plan for emphasizing the distinct characters of each nation.  The primary difference between the two is land use.  The northern nation has scarcer land, being surrounded by mountains and natural preservation areas, and thus will have stringent land use regulations, while the southern one has far more land and when developed, will be much more suburban. 

The eastern part of the northern region will be particularly dense, and as such, Highway 10 avoids it, much like Vancouver, BC, but the Rail line goes through it.  When Highway 10 crosses into the southern region on Tile F, its location is designed such that if the challenges permit, a new east-west arterial can be built and meet up with Highway 10 on Tile I.

Now that you posted your pictures, you are not allowed to change anything anymore. We made copies and judge the originals only.

We also will not make any comments in this thread besides the judging once it is finished by Wednesday next week, but we will make useful and friendly comments in your regular thread of GRV. Points will be given 3 to 4 days after the challenge is finished and will be posted in the Pointage Sheet.
Also your points only together with an explanation and comments why we gave you these points, will be posted here at the end of this challenge.

You can start playing and build whatever you want in either tile B,E or H, but only in one of them.

First of all let us congratulate You. You have made it through the first Mayor's test.
On the picture below, circles with letters will indicate what was important in your region for this challenge. If we say we don't like or we like, it doesn't mean that it's the same for others. We are judging to our lknowledge and what would be the most logical thing to do in our opinion, remember this.

A.  Very good idea to cross the river here for both road and rail.
B.  Really not so good idea to have the road go over the mountain. Roads in mountainous terrain is always expensive, so is the maintenance of this part of the road. It would have been a lot better for the budget to have contoured the mountains.
C.  and D.  are both good idea to cross the grand river.

There could have been one more point if it wasn't for the mountain pass. Very good work though. Congratulations and good luck with the next challenge.
